What do we know about selenium (Se)? The name of this chemical element comes from the ancient Greek name for the moon - Selene.
Selenium is included in the VI group of the Periodic Table along with such chemical elements as oxygen (O), sulfur (S), tellurium (Te), polonium (Po).
Replaced selenium rectifier with diode. Oddly, there was what seemed to be a factory-installed dropping resistor (that was not on the schematic) in series already with the selenium . It was dropping the voltage down a bit too much with the original selenium, however when I replaced with the diode the voltages were right on spec. Happy accident I suppose.
I also later removed the clear insulation I put on the power resistors, as I found out that it doesn't take heat all that well.
