A very old, gnarled log surrounded by snow at Upper Falls in Provo Canyon. This is one of many such logs that look almost like driftwood after being constantly pounded by falling water year after year. In the winter, the falls are slower and many of these logs dry out and show a lot of character in their cracks and splits. Scan of an 8x10 silver gelatin print on Ilford Multigrade FB. Selenium toned.

Underexposed and underdeveloped. I've increased the contrast a bit by soaking the negative in 1+19 Selenium toner.
Captured April 2016 Q3D-2 rangefinder + JUPITER-3 50mm/1.5 lens.LUCKY SHD-100 B&W film rated EI=50 and developed in ParRodinal.The negatives were selenium intensified in Kodak Rapid Se :1+2 for 10min.Notice the 'glow' caused by lack of antihalation coat!

Dark room print on Agfa Brovira grade 2, slightly toned in selenium 1+19 for 10 seconds, and Foma sepia for 6 seconds bleach and then toned to achieve some warmth.

A selenium tinted high-key monochromatic scape of the now closed Dog Beach at Quiet Waters Park. This particular stretch of land is a playground for us LE fanatics. There were so many interesting items to shoot. Unfurtunately, it is closed, with no trespassing signs posted everywhere. Here is wishing for this area to open again. It would be awesome to shoot sunsets from this stretch of beach.

Low light shooting an Olympus Trip 35 with a broken selenium meter loaded with Lomo 800. I had planned to hack or sell the Trip but it now has a new life.This is the first time I've shot such such a high speed film and the F/2.8 lens didn't let me down.
Pan tiles on part of a little farmhouse building near Pollença, Mallorca in the Balearic Islands. This is a flatbed scan of a selenium toned print, (Ilford Multigrade III RC paper, I think graded at 3 when I printed it, developed in Ilford Multigrade developer, chromate bleached and redeveloped prior to toning in home formulated selenium toner, provided by a knowledgeable chemist friend). The negative was Kodak TMax 100 ASA, developed in TMax dev, rated at 100ASA and I took the photo using a Leica M42 35mm rangefinder with standard lens (Leica Elmar 50mm f/2.8 pancake lens), back in late May 1996. Apologies for lacking the willpower to spot out all the dust and scratches from the print surface!

Selenium light meters are not known for their sensitivity to low light, but I just wanted to know, so I applied the meter readout in this post-sunset shot. Doesn't look all wrong to me.
I'm developing a lot of respect for the Tessar. It doesn't really excel at any particular thing, but on the other hand, it responded well to all light situations I have confronted it with, which is more than I can say for many much more elaborate lenses.

I have enlarged this 4x5 negative to 38x38cm with 1.8 logD for platinum prints and a softer one for playing with Kallitype. Because my scanner is only for 21x30cm, I made four scans and stitched the parts together in Photoshop.
