One of my favorite parts on Gracie. I always play with that little hair at the end of her tail.

This is converted with a Selenium tone.

Having tried a couple of lithprints, I finally managed to give Portralure a decent use. One of the most exciting toning papers I've had in my hands (thanks Marcus!).

Part 6 of the New Frontier series

If you like you can view the rest of the series here New Frontier set

As the title of this series suggests, I will use this series as my public playground for experimenting with new techniques and concepts trying to push my own limits...

Recurring subject will be long exposures.

The final part of this series. I've been experimenting a bit with different moods and compositions and also with B&W techniques. Tomorrow I'll start a new series, also with long exposures but I'm trying to add a human element into it. The mood will be a bit darker also...

A selenium tinted high-key monochromatic scape of the now closed Dog Beach at Quiet Waters Park. This particular stretch of land is a playground for us LE fanatics. There were so many interesting items to shoot. Unfurtunately, it is closed, with no trespassing signs posted everywhere. Here is wishing for this area to open again. It would be awesome to shoot sunsets from this stretch of beach.

A very old, gnarled log surrounded by snow at Upper Falls in Provo Canyon. This is one of many such logs that look almost like driftwood after being constantly pounded by falling water year after year. In the winter, the falls are slower and many of these logs dry out and show a lot of character in their cracks and splits. Scan of an 8x10 silver gelatin print on Ilford Multigrade FB.

Yellow toner was ...wrong. It looked awful. Blue toner produced a green toned print that didn't look any better. The addition of selenium produced this. Kinda cool, considering all that this print has gone through.

Zeiss Ikon IKOPHOT Rapid, a match needle selenium light meter in a leather case with a ornate chain. This thingy is from the 1950’s, but I found it at a flea market a couple of years ago. The seller had no idea what it was, she told me it belonged in a set with a camera which had been sold separately. So we gathered it had something to do with photography and as I found it to look truly curious I bought it for a couple of dollars. Googling it later revealed this in fact is a light meter.

About my Corner of Curiosities: A few years ago I bought a little box with drawers, thinking I would collect a few special bits and pieces in there. I parked this little set on top of my IKEA chest of six drawers which stands in a corner of my apartment. In time, I added more small shelfs, drawers and boxes and began to put curious items on display in all the little nooks and crannies. Quirky little things I mostly find on flea markets, but also get off the net. This corner of my home serves as inpiration, and every once in I while I walk up the IKEA dresser, put my elbows on top and rest my chin in my hands while I let my eyes wander through all these curious things. Moments such as these give spark my imagination and spurs my motivation to doodle in my journals. The collection is’nt all that special, as it’s not very easy finding fairly cheap, quirky and curious things, small enough to fit in the corner. My collection is constantly changing, if I find a new collectible, something else has to go or be moved around - as the corner now more or less is full.

Anywho, I thought I’d dedicate a photo album to this Corner of Curiosities, here on Flickr - probably for no other purpose than to tickle my own imagination :)
