India Yamaha Motor had launched sports and supersports bikes in India and now it is planning to introduce one more stunning new bike in India. As per news reports, the Japanese company intends to launch Yamaha YZF R125 in India very soon. Thanks to the overwhelming response for its existing R and FZ series bikes that force the company to launch a new supersports bike in 125cc segment. The bike was, at first, launched in the year 2008 in overseas market. Since launching the Yamaha R125, it has got several upgradations time and again.

So, in a previous session here, we had wondered if the collection of blue and yellow steel would be used to lift precast segments into place. Now we know we were correct.
At full size we can see the lifting frame is rated at 61.5 tonnes.

Known as The Royal City, it is roughly 22 km (14 mi) east of Kitchener and 70 km (43 mi) west of Downtown Toronto, at the intersection of Highway 6, Highway 7 and Wellington County Road 124. Guelph began as a settlement in the 1820s, established by John Galt, who was in Upper Canada as the first superintendent of the Canada Company. He based the headquarters, and his home, in the community. The area—much of which became Wellington County—was part of the Halton Block, a Crown reserve for the Six Nations Iroquois. Galt is generally considered Guelph's founder.
For many years, Guelph ranked at or near the bottom of Canada's crime severity list. However, the 2017 index showed a 15% increase from 2016. It had one of the country's lowest unemployment rates throughout the Great Recession. In late 2018, the Guelph Eramosa and Puslinch entity had an unemployment rate of 2.3%, which decreased to 1.9% by January 2019, the lowest of all Canadian cities. Late June to early July, 2024 I did my 4th major cycling tour. I cycled from Ottawa to London, Ontario on a convoluted route that passed by Niagara Falls. During this journey I cycled 1,876.26 km and took 21,413 photos. As with my other tours a major focus was old architecture.

"You have to hike through Pennsylvania to get to the good stuff."
A reference to the Appalachian Trail. PA is nothing spectacular as hiking goes and is mostly known for its abundant rocks. In the summer it is hot and humid and about the only thing going for PA is the halfway point of the AT where long distance hikers have a custom of eating a half-gallon of ice cream.
With the exception (mostly) of the Cochetopa Creek, which I thoroughly enjoyed hiking, this year's hike was nothing spectacular. Long waterless stretches, dirt road walking, cattle country, etc. was all about to change as I headed toward San Luis Peak and above treeline.
I took a break at the saddle in a small depression out of the wind. Another hiker was there who stashed his pack while he climbed San Luis Peak. As mentioned before, San Luis is another 14er and probably the easiest accessible one via the Colorado Trail. The saddle is at 12,612 ft and the Peak is just another 1400' in elevation gain. The 2.5 mile roundtrip would probably take several hours. Maybe another time.
After the saddle, the trail stayed above treeline and crossed a number of additional saddles. I encountered a handful of dayhikers traversing what I call 1/2 fishbowls. You can usually see the footpath on the sidehill as it 1/2 circles around between the saddles. Many dead trees were visible down the valleys which somewhat contributed to the mostly vapid, colorless environment. Nevertheless the views were astounding.
A beautiful 0.6mm long female Stethynium triclavatum parasitoid wasp of the Mymaridae family found in the birch tree in the garden. Additional pictures below can be viewed larger with a click. Note 3-segmented clava in bottom picture, and very long wing fimbria and protruding ovipositor.

The renovations at Lightwoods Park appear to be complete.

House. Late C18, re-fronted mid-C19. Brick with stucco dressings and slate
roof. A symmetrical composition of two storeys and five bays, with chamfered
quoins. The three central bays project, also with chamfered quoins, and with
a pediment. The ground floor windows have rusticated surrounds and keystones.
The first floor windows, above a cornice, are sashed, have segmental heads, and
are flanked by pilasters with triglyphs over. Each has an apron with blind
balustrade and a segmental pediment with scallop shell motif. The porch has
rusticated engaged columns, triglyph frieze, and balustrade. The doorway has
a round head. Set back to the left is a one-bay pedimented pavilion, remain-
ing from the C18 building. At the rear is a Venetian stair window with Doric
columns as mullions. The VCH gives a sketch plan and elevation of the original
house, showing the extent of the C19 alterations. They state that a brick to
the east of the porch is inscribed: "Jonathan Grundy, June 19, 1780". (VCH,
pp 101, 102).

One segment of a badly degraded mural in Hyde Park, underneath the railroad viaduct at
55th & Lake Park. Exposure to the elements and pollution has taken its toll, but large sections have been destroyed by vandals, gangbangers and taggers. I can only photograph what's left, and I have enhanced the resulting images to approximate what these murals may have looked like when they were new.
Lakeshore beach gravel in the Holocene of Minnesota, USA.
This is modern beach gravel along the northern shoreline of western Lake Superior. Most of the clasts are pebble-sized (= 4 to 64 mm). The pebbles are derived from lakeshore outcrops of basalt that are part of a lava flow-dominated succession called the North Shore Volcanic Series. This is equivalent to & the same age as the Portage Lake Volcanic Series of northern Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula (www.flickr.com/photos/jsjgeology/albums/72157632266738191). The North Shore and Portage Lake successions are ~1.1 billion years old and represent basalt lava flows, plus minor sedimentary rocks, that filled up an ancient rift valley. This old rift is the Lake Superior segment of the Mid-Continent Rift System, a tear in the ancient North American paleocontinent of Laurentia (see: minerals.usgs.gov/science/midcontinent-rift-minerals/imag...). Tectonic rifting started along this tear, exactly like the modern-day East African Rift Valley. Laurentia's Mid-Continent Rift System started and then stopped and was subsequently filled and buried. This ancient failed rift is now exposed on either side of Lake Superior in North America's Great Lakes.
The pebbles were transported and deposited by waves and longshore currents.
