The High Level Segment of the Governing Council of the Community of Democracies took place on March 5, on the occasion of the 28th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. Given the occasion, the meeting dealt intensively with topics related to human rights, and hosted three United Nations Special Rapporteurs: SR on Promoting the Rights to Freedom of Opinion and Expression, David Kaye; SR on the Situation of Human Rights Defenders Michel Forst; and SR on the Rights to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association, Maina Kiai. Special Rapporteurs presented their latest reports and insights and discussed them with Ministers and High Level Participants.
