Elevated guideway segments cast at the precast concrete facility.
Once complete, these segments will be transported to a storage area using a rail mechanism as seen in the photo.
Episyrphus Balteatus, ( Hover flies or Flower flies ),
This slender species is easily identified by the abdominal pattern, with an additional narrow black band on the 3rd and 4th segments, March - November almost everywhere; abundant in gardens.
The species sometimes migrates in swarms from continental Europe,
Hover flies are the most easily recognizable of the flies due to their often wasp-like or bee-like appearance and their ability to hover.
These superb aerial acrobats can move in all directions, including backwards, and can hold a fixed position in the air even in gusty conditions.
The adults are typically slender-bodied with black and yellow or white stripes; some are stout and hairt.
The eyes are large and in males meet on top of the head.
The wings have a characteristic false vein running down the middle ( a simple thickening of the wing membrane ) and a false margin at the edge ( the joining together of the outer wing veins ).
Despite the warning, wasp-like markings, and the bee-like appearance of many species, hover flies are harmless nectar feeders.
The larvae of a few species can be pests of cultivated bulbs.

Onésime Frébourg

Le canot de sauvetage a été construit au chantier Lemaistre de Fécamp en 1952, deuxième de la série sous le numéro SNS 008-CTT.
Il porte le nom d’un célèbre sauveteur Fécampois FIRMIN ONÉSIME FRÉBOURG (1853-1923) qui a été fait Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur par décret du 5 avril 1901 pour ses 49 sauvetages.
Le canot fut béni le 30 juillet 1952, par monseigneur Pincet, en présence :
- du commandant Durand-Gasselin, administrateur-délégué de la SCSN
- de la marraine : madame Merienne, soeur de Charles Merienne, président du comité de sauvetage.
- du parrain : Roger Deschamps, petit-fils de monsieur ONÉSIME FRÉBOURG.
Mis en service le 31 juillet 1952 il servira à Fécamp jusqu'en 1974. Il est mis en réserve de 1975 à 1977, toujours à Fécamp, avec mission de remplacement à Goury La Hague en 1977. Il a ensuite été affecté à Bayonne qu’il a rallié en début d’année 1978 et y a été en activité jusqu’en 1993. Il va à Port-Bloc durant l’été 1994.

Les ateliers Lemaistre
Après un carénage à Hendaye par décision n°12 du 27 juin 1994 le canot de sauvetage Onésime Frébourg est réformé après 42 ans de service. Il retrouve Fécamp en octobre 1995. La station en assure le gardiennage et l’entretien. Il est utilisé pour des sorties de représentation à l’exclusion de toute sortie de sauvetage. Il est remis en état par une équipe de la SNSM sous l’autorité du président monsieur Moré. Donation à l’AFDAM (Association Fécampoise pour le Développement des Activités Marine) par convention du 11 mai 2007 sans résultat pour le canot de sauvetage. L’association du Cap Fagnet prend la suite, toujours sans résultat pour le canot de sauvetage.
Le 12 novembre 2015, création de l’ASSOCIATION CANOT DE SAUVETAGE ONÉSIME FRÉBOURG qui prend en charge le canot de sauvetage et commence les rénovations sous la responsabilité du président monsieur Yannick QUÉNEL.
Opérations de sauvetage
Le canot de sauvetage ONÉSIME FRÉBOURG a participé à de nombreuses opérations de sauvetages, remorquages ainsi qu'à des taches de dépollution. Copies des archives SNSM nous ont été fournies par Monsieur BRAULT Patrice, historien de la SNSM, que nous remercions pour sa collaboration. Ces archives nous permettront de faire découvrir au public les sauvetages de l’Onésime FRÉBOURG.
D’après ces archives ne pouvant pour le moment tout retracer, car il y a des années introuvables, nous comptons actuellement 58 sorties qui commencent en 1954 et finissent en 1991 avec 92 personnes sauvées.
Les principaux patrons sur Fécamp du canot de sauvetage ONÉSIME FRÉBOURG ont été M Victor Mignot qui reçut la Croix de la Légion d’Honneur des mains de l’Amiral Harcourt, M Lemarchand Adrien, M Bourgon Charles, M Angot Charles, M Moré Claude. Sur Bayonne M Lissardy Jean, M Clemenceau Jean Louis.

Onésime Frébourg Fécamp
En 1977 modernisation du canot au CERO. Remplacement des 2 moteurs par des Renault-Couach marine type RC 14OD avec centralisation des commandes et refonte complète du roof.
Projet de restauration
Le but de l’ASSOCIATION CANOT DE SAUVETAGE ONÉSIME FRÉBOURG est de faire naviguer le canot de sauvetage dans l'état dans lequel il était lorsqu'il a quitté le service.
Moteurs :
Il faut remettre en état de fonctionnement les moteurs Renault-Couach RC 140 en fonction du coût des pièces à remplacer, pistons, segments et divers joints, ou investir dans de nouveaux moteurs. Les travaux seront dans la mesure du possible effectués par l’association, qui a des officiers mécaniciens de la marine marchande dans ses effectifs.
Les moteurs sont débarqués, mis dans un hangar pour contrôle et démontage. Il nous faut faire la liste des pièces à remplacer pour demande de devis, avant de prendre une décision.
Les caisses à gasoil en cuivre sont à nettoyer ainsi que la tuyauterie d’alimentation des moteurs en gasoil, car il y a des impuretés dedans. Vidange de ces caisses par camion pour éviter toute pollution.
Électricité :
L’électricité est à refaire en totalité, elle sera faite aux normes marines par un électricien professionnel qui fait partie de l’association.
Coque et Pont :
La coque est en bon état et ne nécessite pas pour le moment d'intervention.
Le pont n’était plus étanche, dans l’urgence nous avons mis du brai pour empêcher l'eau d'entrer dans le canot. Nous envisageons de refaire le pont en gardant l’aspect d’origine du navire, chêne et teck.

Projet d’utilisation du canot de sauvetage
L’association a pour projet de participer à toutes les manifestations maritimes de notre région afin de faire découvrir au grand public le canot, montrant le savoir-faire fécampois, dans la construction navale en particulier celui des chantiers Lemaistre. Le canot est un témoin de notre patrimoine maritime qui permet de rendre hommage au courage et a l’abnégation des différends équipages qui l’on armé et participé aux multiples sauvetages. Faire découvrir la navigation, notre patrimoine maritime, aux membres de l’ASSOCIATION CANOT DE SAUVETAGE ONÉSIME FRÉBOURG avec des sorties en mer. Participer aux animations et fêtes régionales maritimes. Si des invitations se présentent, Bretagne, côte Atlantique, nous nous ferons un plaisir d’être présents.
Dans le futur, peut-être, monter un rassemblement des canots de sauvetage Lemaistre sur Fécamp.
Les projets ne manquent pas, mais pour l’instant on se concentre sur la rénovation du canot de sauvetage ONÉSIME FRÉBOURG.
A Fécamp nous voulons faire revivre l'esprit de la construction navale pour revaloriser le savoir-faire fécampois auprès du grand public. Nous sommes très attachés à la préservation de notre patrimoine maritime, en particulier au sauvetage, et nous y consacrons beaucoup de temps et d'énergie. L'accueil favorable des collectivités locales comme du grand public nous soutient fortement. Construit à Fécamp, en service à Fécamp, restauré à Fécamp, Onésime Frébourg mérite une belle rénovation. Toute l'équipe de l'association est mobilisée pour ce magnifique projet.

This piece was just finished and is made from segmented african blackwood, purpleheart, and pau amarillo for the body the top and lower pieces are english holly and the very tiny piece on the bottom is ebony. I have included a perspective shot compared to an eraser on a pencil. The body was hollowed out and I am pretty happy with this piece although I don't like the shape of the body too much. A great way to use up some scrap pieces in the shop. This piece is about 3 and a half inches long and 1 and a half inches in diameter at the body.
Cut my first ring of 12 segments. Accuracy is not easy to achieve.
More pressure to the left, or a slight splinter against the fence, is magnified X 12 and you are a mile out in this game !
Rise (Oposite) 217mm, times width (Adjacent) 810 = .2679491 = Tan of 15degs.
My segments had a gap of ~ 1mm when constructed into a circule.
Its radious is 45mm, circum = 90 x 3.142 = 283mm div by 360 = 0.79mm per Deg.
So moving Fence down 1mm
218 x 810 = Tan of 15.0634 degs
Each seg outside length is out by ~ 0.79 / 12 = 0.065mm Or 0.083degs!
So
Moving the fence down on the LHS by 1.2 mm should compensate :-)
But then pressure against the stop must be consistent and Pressure against the Fence must be uniform, I would guess, to get repeated accuracy.

The Nikon F-801's 5-segment matrix metering (introduced in 1988) strikes a unique balance: it's remarkably intelligent for its era, analyzing the frame in zones and comparing against a database of scenarios to deliver consistently balanced exposures—even in high-contrast lighting.
This results in negatives with excellent detail across highlights, midtones, and shadows, giving scans or prints a crisp, vibrant, "HD-like" clarity that feels surprisingly modern and polished.
Yet it's not overly clinical or "surgical" like later systems (e.g., the 10-segment 3D matrix in the N80/F80 or F100). It can still occasionally overexpose bright areas or require slight compensation in extreme conditions, preserving just enough analog unpredictability to avoid looking sterile or fully digital.
It's that sweet spot—advanced enough to impress with reliability, imperfect enough to keep the soul of film intact—that gives the F-801 its distinctive, era-bridging signature.
I thought this extreme right hand side of High Falls deserved its own picture. When the water level goes down, this is the side that dries up first.

Haigh Lane, the steeply sloping home ground of Hoylandswaine Cricket Club. Located in the scenic western segment of Barnsley Borough, the ground stands at 770 feet. The Huddersfield League team are fielding during a 62-run victory over Wrenthorpe, of the Bradford League, in a quarter-final of the Heavy Woollen Cup. Swaine, put in, piled up 338 on their tiny, sloping ground. It should have been even more but the last six wickets were lost for the addition of just 37 runs. Rhubarb Triangle-based Wrenthorpe were on target at the halfway mark of their reply. They reached 150-2 after 25 overs but then slumped to 191-7 before a late rally made their margin of defeat a little more respectable.
The Heavy Woollen Cup dates from 1883 and is the oldest knockout cricket competition on the world. It is contested annually by 32 clubs, all of whose grounds must be within an 18-mile radius of Batley Town Hall. Hoylandswaine were beaten by Woodlands in the 2015 final, which was played at Ossett Cricket Club.
Match statistics: Hoylandswaine 338 off 46 overs (Michael Cranmer 127, Max Joice 99, Alex Morris 44, Chris Leaf 5-45, Greg Wood 3-57) beat Wrenthorpe 276 off 47 overs (Jordan Sleightholme 55, Darryl Hendricks 39, Jonathan Smith 38, Greg Wood 35, Ben Potter 3-58) by 62 runs. Wrenthorpe won the toss and opted to field. Admission: £1. Programme: none (the editor forgot about this cup-tie!). Attendance: 215. Mug of tea: 50p. Slice of chocolate cake: £1.25. Cricket tea (chicken curry or vegetable pasta): £4.
Hoylandswaine Cricket Club were formed in 1911 and in their inaugural year won the Penistone League championship. They switched to the Barnsley League in the Thirties and the Huddersfield League in the Seventies. During their stint in the Barnsley League, they bowled out Thurgoland's Second XI for one! One of the stronger sides in the Huddersfield League, Swaine have won the Premiership title twice (2007 and 2008) and lifted the Sykes Cup on two occasions (2013 and 2014).

Day 2 Marshall Pass Rd (Segment 16) to Sargents Mesa (Segment 16)
Woke up to rain this morning. A bit discouraging but fortunately it didn't last long and I didn't get wet. I did have to pack up a wet tent but was able to dry it during morning coffee break.
As I started hiking, I noticed light snow on the mountain tops, most noticeable was Mount Ouray. Not quite a 14er, Mount Ouray was named after Ute Chief Ouray. (Wikipedia)
Hiking wasn't too bad until heading down to mile 7.1. Very steep, rutted and rocky. It was basically a trench with rocks scattered throughout. Probably about 1 mile before and after mile 7.1, just not as steep after. I took a short break at 7.1.
Water is scarce in this segment. Saw only stream early morning then nothing until Tank Seven Creek, which was flowing well. Knowing that this night would be a dry campsite, I made dinner there and then cameled up for possibly next 2 days. Heavy but necessary. I often stop early for dinner on Colorado Trail. Campsites are usually random and not always near a water source. Tank Seven Creek had nice campsites nearby but too early to stop.
While hiking through Sargents Mesa I didn't find any suitable flat spots so I pushed a little further than planned. I ended up at the far end of the Mesa in the trees. 15.1 miles for the day. I did see a couple of hikers throughout the day.
