Day 343:

As soon as I try to make my way out of the darkness and back into the light I am unwillingly thrust right back into the darkness.

Day 242:

The only real way to describe this day:

All eyes on the calendar, another year I claim of total indifference.

To here, the days pile up with decisions to be made, I'm sure all of them were wrong.

I am grateful of second chances. Boogie was a neighbor's badly neglected dog yet they let us adopt him because Boogie had heartworm & cancer. He lived the rest of his life like a King. He gave my husband & me so much love and joy. The book is full of short stories of dogs who had a second chance in life ~ a great book. If one falls, there is always an opportunity to let go, get up, and be loved again.

...film fest...they must have won in every category they were nominated for..same fellow from England kept coming up on stage...seemed to be running out of gracious things to say...finally said he would have to pay for excess luggage on the return flight with so many award plaques .....based on Psalm 18.16-17 ("...He drew me out of deep waters...") about a child being saved from an abusive daycare center in the UK ..GOOD WORK BY Owen Kingston, Tom Cooper, Anita Wadsworth, Rhianna Culverwell, Paul Lancaster, Elizabeth Neale, Michael Wray, Kevin Ahronson, Eleanor Appleton, Ben Fensome, among others...**The 168 film fest is named such because it allows filmmakers 168 hours (7 days) to create a film based on a provided Bible verse.**

This picture is #28 in my 100 Strangers project.

I spotted Daniel waiting for the bus near Town Hall. His style was what interested me, so I went up and asked for a photo. He immediately said, "sure" with a very friendly smile. After grabbing both a landscape and portrait shot, I offered up an explanation for my unusual behaviour.

Much to my surprise, he said that he photographs strangers too! Wow, talk about unexpected! At this point, I forgot about what I was on my way to do and sat down to have a chat.

It turns out that Daniel is Russian and recently moved to Sydney from Adelaide. He works doing taxes/super and made me feel like I've been living here for a long time already. His outlook was very positive and quite refreshing.

His most interesting stranger encounter involved chasing a man on a skateboard all the way down the main street of Newtown because he had a parrot on his shoulder. Something tells me I should visit Newtown for this project.

Unfortunately, he ran off to make his bus before I could ask if he wanted a copy of the photo.

That was roughly a month ago, but I fudged the shot. It wasn't until just this past week that I noticed him waiting for the bus again (as I headed to pick up my dry cleaning again!). I immediately went over to say hello, hoping for another crack at a portrait. He recognised me right away and enthusiastically said that he had seen my gallery online. Surprise! Apparently a friend of his is a member of this very group (perhaps someone in the Sydney Meetup Thread?)!

Anyhow, I hope that you see this photo, Daniel. Thanks for letting me take your portrait. Twice.

Day 24:

I am completely exhausted today.

Most of my exhaustion comes from my worry, my fear, my anxiety that I will not come up with tomorrow's photo, that I will fall short.

Of course there are other factors that contribute to my exhaustion, but my worry about my photography is what is really getting to me right now.

I just cannot wait until I am comfortable with my camera again and full of new ideas.

I am currently in the market for a new type of lens. I think getting a new lens will inspire me to take tons of photos while experiencing what a different type of lens can do.

Day 146:

Many times I have been stuck behind such vehicles and always have I become instantly irritated, but not today. Today was much different. For some reason I was calm and since I was calm I was able to put myself into the operator of the certain vehicle's shoes. I can almost guarantee you that the operator of these type of slow moving vehicles get no joy or pleasure out of holding up traffic. They are just doing what they get paid to do for a living. They do not like it any better than the people stuck behind them. I imagine that they feel bad for holding people up, but what are they to do?

I ask you to just think before getting upset at these people.

Just remember you have a job too, it may not hold anyone up, but nonetheless it is what you get paid to do and it has to be done.

I have been far to angry lately and I need to fix that.

Somehow.

I think he won twice...but I don't know the categories..anyways..good job..he also did a behind-the-scenes documentary of the making of "second glances" (the theme of the 168 fest this year was "second chances")...based on Psalm 13.4-6 about a troubled office worker finding new life & inspiration when he spots a beautiful gal playing guitar...but at first she won't even look at him...he can't figure out why...he finally chases her down and discovers the reason....**The 168 film fest is named such because it allows filmmakers 168 hours (7 days) to create a film based on a provided Bible verse.**

..must be funny, in a rich man's world.

Christmas comes early for 105 Cadets of the North Carolina National Guard’s Tarheel Challenge Academy at their graduation ceremony at the Sampson County Agri-Exposition Center in Clinton, North Carolina, Dec. 8, 2017. Their gift was a hard earned second chance after completing 22-weeks of rigorous physical and academic training, community service and team building in residence at the academy’s Salemburg, North Carolina, campus. “We faced our fears and learned our potential,” said Cadet Logan P. Day 99:

Happy Easter!

According to the University of Florida's Center for Children's Literature and Culture, the origin of the celebration -- and the origin of the Easter Bunny -- can be traced back to 13th-century, pre-Christian Germany, when people worshiped several gods and goddesses. The Teutonic deity Eostra was the goddess of spring and fertility, and feasts were held in her honor on the Vernal Equinox. Her symbol was the rabbit because of the animal’s high reproduction rate.

Day 4:

The shower.

The place where I have my deepest thoughts.

As the scalding hot water burns my skin I let my thoughts take over. There is no holding back, no pushing thoughts deep down, just pure and honest thoughts, the thoughts my mind want to ponder.

Most of the time, during these long hot showers, I end up in tears. Tears that fall for my own life. Tears that fall for others lives. Tears that fall for the sake of the world. Tears.

These thoughts are thoughts that most would choose to ignore, yet I embrace them. I cannot ignore what is and pretend that everything is okay, when it is not. I choose to deal instead of lying and pretending. It's never easy, but these long hot showers help me through the truth of it all.

These guys were performing their athletic arts (walking on their hands, turning overhead) on the beach. When I showed up with a camera, they made it a whole show and they posed.

"God of Second Chances"

#God blesses us with #secondchances. In fact, he does so every single day! So, next time feel we’ve strayed too far away from God, think about these guys:

- #Matthew was a dodgy tax collector.

- #Peter denied #Jesus three times and hid while Jesus was on the cross.

- #Abraham denied Sarah was his wife, not just once, but twice.

- #Jacob was a first-rate cheat and played favourites with his kids.

- #Moses stuttered and ran away from murder.

- #David was an #adulterer and #murderer.

- #Elijah suffered from #depression.

Then there’s St. #Paul, writer of 13 of 27 New Testament books. When Jesus needed an apostle to the Gentiles, he picked the perfect candidate – Paul, not just A but THE #enemyofthechurch. He was a thug who dragged Jesus’s followers to #prison and even approved stoning them to death. Yet, Jesus appeared to him and goes on to fiercely preach the grace of the cross, leading to his own death.

Who says God’s people, even the most famous and celebrated, were #perfect?

Each day is yet another chance to submit to the #LordJesus and experience his unending forgiveness and grace.

#Blessed #week #folks!
