"Named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel, the Eiffel Tower is the tallest building in Paris.[1] More than 200,000,000 people have visited the tower since its construction in 1889,[2] including 6,719,200 in 2006,[3] making it the most visited paid monument in the world.[4][5] Including the 24 m (79 ft) antenna, the structure is 324 m (1,063 ft) high (since 2000), which is equivalent to about 81 levels in a conventional building.

When the tower was completed in 1889 it was the world's tallest tower — a title it retained until 1930 when New York City's Chrysler Building (319 m — 1,047 ft tall) was completed.[6] The tower is now the fifth-tallest structure in France and the tallest structure in Paris, with the second-tallest being the Tour Montparnasse (210 m — 689 ft), although that will soon be surpassed by Tour AXA (225.11 m — 738.36 ft)."

Found this guy on the steps of the Acropolis (Propylaea). His tag said "Petros, sterile, vaccinated" and had a (cell) phone number. Thinking that the dog was lost, I called the number. I was informed that Petros is an official "Athens Municipality Stray Dog" (!). I was further told that Petros is very fast and active and that he gets around.

Day 50:

The photographer who is my photographic idol just had one her photos become an album cover for a band's second album. This made me want to try and come up with some sort of album cover. This is the result.

Day 130:

Yet another example of my obsession of abandonment. I just love to see what happens when things are left behind and start to deteriorate. I also love to see what people leave behind when they do abandon someplace. It's just so fascinating. I would love to be able to see the condition of the world even as short as twenty years after the human race is no more. A beautifully abandoned deteriorating world.

Lalbaugcha Raja is the most famous Sarvajanik Ganapati, [1] kept at Lalbaug, a prominent locality in Mumbai during Ganesh Chaturti festival. The idol is kept for public display for Eleven days thereafter it is immersed on the auspicious day of Anant Chaturdashi. The pendal attracts hundreds of thousands of devotees during the festival[2] and is the center of prime attraction. There are two lines for taking blessings of the Lalbaugcha Raja - THE NAVSACHI LINE and MUKH DARSHANACHI LINE.Around 18 LAC people visit the mandal on the 1st day of ganeshutsav .It takes around 25-30 and sometimes 40 hours for THE NAVSACHI LINE and 15-20 hours for MUKH DARSHANACHI LINE to reach the ganpati stage due to the long lines ranging from 5 to 6 km. Many times MUKH DARSHANACHI LINE reaches Byculla and THE NAVSACHI LINE reaches very very far.

It is believed that this Idol of Lord Ganesha is Navsacha Ganpati (which means the fulfiller of all wishes) and hence around 1.5 million people or more visit this Ganesh Pandal daily during the 10 day Ganeshotsav festival.Soon Lalbaugcha Raja is supposed to be a pigrim place.

Since last few years, few days prior to the Ganesh Chaturthi day, Mukh Darshan Ceremony (Lalbaugcha Raja's first look and photoshoot) is organised by Lalbaug Sarvajanik Ganeshostav mandal. This year the ceremony took place on Thursday, September 5, 2013. This unveiling of Lalbaugcha Raja is covered every year by all national and regional channels.[3]

Lalbaugcha Raja is the popular Ganesh Idol of Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal. The Mandal, formerly known as Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Lalbaug[4] was founded in 1934 at Lalbaug Market.

History[edit source | editbeta]

The Mandal, formerly known as 'Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, Lalbaug' was founded in 1934,[5] because of a vow (Navas) for construction of the present Lalbaug Market at its existing place. The market place at Peru Chawl was shut down in 1932. Hence, the fishermen and vendors [ i.e. the KOLI people] who used to sit in the open place vowed to Ganesha for permanent place for their market. With the consistent efforts and support of the then local Councillor-Late Shri. Kuwarji Jethabhai Shah, Dr. V. B. Korgaonkar, Shri. Nakhawa Kokam Mama, Bhausaheb Shinde, Dr. U. A. Rao and the local residents, the landlord Rajabai Tayyabali agreed to give a plot for construction of a market. As fulfillment of their wish, the fisherman and the traders established the Ganesh Idol on 12 September 1934. The idol was dressed in the customary fashion of fisherman. Since that day onwards, this Lord Ganesh has become popular as it fulfills the wishes of devotees. The Mandal was formed in the era when the freedom struggle was at its peak.

100 pictures, #29 Machinery

Old Hemp Factory, used to work on water power. It used to make ropes and textile. Before the Second World War Edessa was called "Manchester of the east" because of it's textile industry. The Germans destroyed most of the industry in the war. After the war water power was not important anymore and the industry languished.

Listened to a lot of Shinedown tonight...

So about two years ago I was in a bad car accident, where the car flipped over several times and i didnt have my seat belt on bc i was sleeping in the back seat while the friend drove. Lets just say i just broke an ankle and thats all. I was spared and it could have been worse but it wasn't. I was given that second chance.

I wanted to add feathers to give that effect of the angels kicking me out from above. So there is a chance I will redo this.

Day 49:

Could you believe now it's right before my eyes?

I couldn't resist stopping for a few photographs of this wonderful old school. It sits in expansive grounds that highlight its early 20th C. architecture. Built as an elementary school, it has also been a high school, a magnet school, and now serves as a special public academy, offering a creative program for over-age young people who are giving secondary school another chance. Classes meet six days a week. I visited on a Saturday and found it lively. I was lucky enough to meet the principal (lower left), who took time to share with me the story of the school's present and past. I was impressed by what I saw happening here in public education. See the charming stone 'reading gnome' in the cast device, upper right.

Day 245:

Sometimes those so called "failed" photographs help you out tremendously. They will sit calmly and patiently in the back expecting never to be used, but when the so called "photographer" falls ill and can barely move and is in the last quarter of his/her 365, or in this case 366 project, those "failed" photographs come out to shine. Sure they are not even close to the perfect photograph, but they without a doubt shine and not only save the day, but the save the entire project.

Day 14:

I have a tendency to push people away.

I don't want them to know the real me.

I don't want them to know my feelings.

I don't want them close.

I don't want them to care for me.

I don't want them to worry about me.

These and many more reasons are why I have been pushing people away for years, I just find it so much better than to try and have people understand who and what I am or to try to be compassionate and help me through something they could never understand.

I will push and continue to push.

Very few people in my life have I kept constantly close and even on a few occasions, at my worst, I have even given them a slight nudge.

Best Friend,

As I have told you before, no matter what happens in our lives, no matter who comes and who goes, I will be there, in your life, loving and supporting you for all of eternity and after. So when I give you a slight nudge or the times you give me the nudge I ask for your forgiveness as I will forgive you because I know when we are a bit better, when we calm down slightly our undying friendship will remain as strong as ever.

-I will love you longer than eternity.

based on Jeremiah 18.1-4 ...produced by Brandon Chandler, Scott McLean, & Chris Ackerman,...a man in tattered clothes walks thru an old town, mexico or old west setting,...sees a kid who turns out to be him when he was young..and he re-visits some of the places where he was tormented by an abusive father..but by the amazing grace of God he is redeemed and re-born ...it was a nice little film...and Brandon, apparently, is struggling with cancer of some sort,...they mentioned him previously and prayed for him on stage at the alex theatre..he was wheezing with every breath...apparently he has dealt with cancer before...but this time they say there's no medical cure ..and he needs a miracle..(altho sometimes medicine is a miracle as well) ..so Brandon got a lot of cheers not only for the sweet film he made with his team but also for healing..God be with him as he deals with it....whether he overcomes or succumbs..God's will be done..he can be sure he will be going to a better place, one way or another...Keep the Faith Brandon,,,and good job ...**The 168 film fest is named such because it allows filmmakers 168 hours (7 days) to create a film based on a provided Bible verse.**

Day 16:

On my way home from work today all that plagued my mind was, what if I never made it all the way home? What if something were to happen? What if I were to die?

By no means am I scared of death nor do I worry about it. In fact, most of my life I have welcomed it, begged it to come take me away in the most vicious of ways, yet I am still alive... living, maybe not so much alive, but living. I know death will come to me someday and I don't weep over this, I don't dread the day, it's just nature, it will come and I am okay with it.

The reason never making it home when coming home from work, or going to work, is a thought that comes into my mind quite often is because my mother passed on her way to work.

Her disease decided the the time was now.

She did not feel right, so she slowly pulled off to the side of the road and stepped out of her vehicle. The resident in the house that was close to where she was at noticed her wondering around disoriented. He promptly called 911. An ambulance arrives, she says she felt dizzy so decided to get some fresh air. As my mother attempts to climb back into her vehicle she passes out. The medics put her into their ambulance and starts their way towards the hospital. As she comes to she tells ask the medic, "Where are we going? I need to get to work." Soon after she passes out again, for good, for eternity. Gone.

This, the reason why never making it home weaves its way through my brain often, not that I fear death, but personal experience. The worst experience.
