April 22, 2010, Scroll of Honor Dedication. Nearly 500 Clemson University graduates who died in service to their country were remembered Thursday during dedication ceremonies for the Scroll of Honor. Clemson President James Barker and selected dignitaries unveiled two purple-shrouded tiger statues as a crowd of up 1,000 applauded and stood at attention. To date 470 names are etched into the stone scroll. There are 27 names from WWI; one from the Nicaraguan campaign; 378 from WWII; 17 more from Korea; one, that of a pilot, from the Cuban missile crisis; 25 from the Vietnam War: and 19 from the Cold War era and the wars on terror. Two additional names were added just as the ceremony took place. The Clemson Corps, organized in 1999, is responsible for maintaining the Scroll of Honor records. The corps is associated with the Clemson Alumni Association and helps raise funds for the preservation of Clemson's military history and the creation of scholarships for ROTC cadets..
Parchment scroll, dating back to the 1760's. As described by Elsie Toms in her book - The Story of St Albans, on page 128.
Due to the large area of the Barony of the Far West {Japan, Korea, Guam, and sometimes China} and the small SCA population {itnierant military and teachers of English} we rely heavily on pre-made scrolls we just print out, put names on and paint. Still, I enjoy the painting.
This is a photograph from the 3rd Annual Meath Spring Half Marathon and 10KM Road Races hosted by Bohermeen AC on the 2nd March 2014 at 12:00 at Bohermeen, Ardbraccan, Navan, Co. Meath, Ireland. This year's event included a 10KM race which replaced the 5KM event held on the previous years. This event has grown quickly in popularity over the past few years with this year's entry of 700 beating the previous race numbers of 680. This half marathon event is perfectly placed in the Irish running calendar as it provides runners of all levels and abilities an opportunity to test the half marathon distance in preparation for a Spring Marathon or as the first serious running goal of the New Year. Bohermeen AC is steeped in Irish athletics history since 1927 and it is this experience and exceptional community spirit and volunteering which has made this event today so successful. The very heavy rain that fell on the 10KM race and the begining of the Half Marathon did nothing to dampen the spirits of the participants. In fact, despite a head wind at certain parts of the course, this was a perfect day for road racing.
Our full set of photographs from today's event are available on Flickr at the following link http://www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157641717197563/. This set of photographs is mostly of the Half Marathon race but there are some from the 10KM event.

The Satellite Navigation Coordinates to Bohermeen are [53.650882,-6.77989] and is accessible using the M3, N2 and N52
The routing for the 2014 event has changed slightly from previous year. In 2014 the race starts about 100m away from the Bohermeen Club Race HQ [See Google StreetView in the direction of the imagery goo.gl/maps/rtj1X] and the race proceeds down the road towards Navan. Just before the 1st mile the race takes a right turn [see Google Streetview goo.gl/maps/iGrR0] which brings runners on the route of the famous Patrick Bell 5KM Road Race route held at Bohermeen every summer. Then the route turns slightly eastwards and this brings the race along a beautiful stretch of rural countryside road. This connects runners with the main loop [see Google StreetView goo.gl/maps/gLI1l] where the race follows the N51 towards Navan. The race must now complete this loop (which passes through the start area and past the finish) and then a full loop again before finishing in the Athletics track. The only hills to speak of in this course are on the the stretch where the race route crosses the M3 motorway (see Google Streetview - as of March 2014 their imagery is a little out of date for the M3 goo.gl/maps/tcdJX). The only major climb on the course must be tackled twice as the road rises up over the M3 Motorway. This comes at about the 5M and 11.5 Mile mark in the race.

If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

This is a photograph from the 4th and final round of the Mullingar Road League which was held in Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland on Wednesday 28th May 2014 at 20:00. This was the final race in the 2014 series. A music festival had been held in the grounds of Belvedere House on the previous weekend and there was concerns that the race tonight would have to be moved outside the gardens. However the ground-staff and Mullingar Harriers worked hard to ensure that the race could go ahead and follow it's normal route. The race follows the roads and trails around Belvedere and is a very testing 5KM route. The race is promoted by Mullingar Harriers for the Pat Finnerty Memorial Cup. Competitors need to run 3 races out of the 4 races in May (any order) to be considered in the overall placing in categories at the conclusion of the league. Over 350 people took part in tonight's event. The weather was perfectly summery with beautiful warm sunshine with little or no breeze. Perfect running conditions. The presentations for the end of the league and a vast array of refreshments were provided afterwards in the Cafe. Runners were able to stay around and chat in the evening sunshine. The Mullingar Road League 2014 will go down as another success in the history of this great series.

Craftivister taggar kläder under Fashion Week I Stockholm

The mini scroll messages in swedish:
1
3.
Skönheten ligger inte bara i betraktarens ögon...
Den vävs in i själva tyget. Våra kläder kan aldrig vara verkligt vackra om de gömmer fulheten i att arbetarna exploateras.
Engagera dig i #FashionRevolution och kolla om dina värderingar är invävda i dina kläder.

Stockholm Craftivists secret scrolls in Fashion Week
On Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th August during Stockholm Fashion Week, people are encouraged to go to HV Galleri in Stockholm to join craftivist Sarah Corbett and others to lovingly handwrite messages onto beautiful paper and wrap them delicately in ribbon to place in clothes pockets in shops, fashion show seats and other secret places for people to find. Will you find on in your pocket?
Craftivist Sarah Corbett is in Stockholm due to her current exhibition Gentle Protest at HV Gallery, during the time of the exhibition she is running workshops and events. In time for Stockholm Fashion Week Sarah is moving her mini scrolls out on the streets: The idea behind the intriguing pretty mini scrolls is to encourage people to think about who made our clothes, help raise awareness of the true cost of fashion, show the world that change is possible and celebrate all those creating a more sustainable future of the fashion industry.
Sarah Corbett is the founder of the Craftivist Collective and said: “We love the beauty and creativity that comes from fashion. We love the fact that we can express ourselves through clothes and feel confident in what wear. But we don’t want to be indifferent about the ugly side of the fashion industry. It’s wrong to think that we don’t have any power to improve the ugly side of fashion. Please join us in celebrating our love of fashion and strive for a more sustainable fashion industry. fighting for an industry. Wouldn’t it be brilliant if SFW 2016 was a show of only exploitation-free clothes? Let’s work together to make that reality one stitch at a time”
This craftivism project (activism through craft) is also to support Fashion Revolution - a global movement who believe in a fashion industry which values people, the environment, creativity and profits in equal measure and has a mission to bring everyone together to help make this happen.
“Fashion Week gathers the entire industry , designers , buyers , stylists and pr agencies during a few hectic days. The media attention is massive and it the perfect opportunity to promote a more sustainable and better world. Sara Corbett has previously protested during London Fashion Week with embroidered message in small cross-stitch that affected the dialogue in the British fashion industry. It is my hope that Stockholm's fashion elite also takes part of Sarah Corbett Gentle Protest,” says Lotta Ahlvar president of the Association of textile arts and craft and former CEO of the Swedish Fashion Council.
For more information about craftivism don’t miss the discussion between author of the book Gerrillaslöjd, yarnbombing, DIY and the handmade revolution, Frida Arnqvist Engström and craftivist Sarah Corbett in the exhibition at HV Gallery Thursday 27th at 18.00. 1.
If clothes could talk...
What tales might they tell? Stories of how they were made with love, joy & care? Or sadness, tragedy & heartbreak?
What would your clothes say to you?
@Fash_Rev
2.
What’s your fashion statement?
“Clothes maketh the person” - that’s quite a responsiblity isn’t it? :s
If we are what we wear then shouldn’t we try to make sure that our clothes are made by garment workers who get paid well & treated with dignity & the planet is not harmed during the making of our clothes?
@Fash_Rev
3.
Beauty is not just in the eye of the beholder....
It is woven into the very fabric of the cloth. Our clothes can never be truly beautiful if they hide the ugliness of worker exploitation.
Join the #FashionRevolution & find out if your values are threaded through your clothes x

Due to the large area of the Barony of the Far West {Japan, Korea, Guam, and sometimes China} and the small SCA population {itnierant military and teachers of English} we rely heavily on pre-made scrolls we just print out, put names on and paint. Still, I enjoy the painting.

Parchment scroll, dating back to the 1760's. As described by Elsie Toms in her book - The Story of St Albans, on page 128.
This is a photograph from the annual BHAA Government Services/Social Protection Group's 5 Mile Road Race took place on Tuesday 27th May 2013 at 20:00 in Dunboyne, Co. Meath, Ireland. The course is a fast flat course which begins on the Dunboyne-Maynooth Road between the two entrances to Dunboyne Castle Estate. The race then proceeds in an anti-clockwise direction back to the Dunboyne Athletic Club on the Rooske Road in Dunboyne. The race reaches higher standards with every passing year. Paul Gorey and his team of volunteers must be given great credit for putting on such a wonderful race event. Thanks are also extended to Dunboyne Athletic Club, the BHAA, and the local community who all make this possible.
This photograph is part of a large set of photographs taken at the finish line area of the race. There are also some races of the buildup and the start of the race. The full set is available at www.flickr.com/photos/peterm7/sets/72157644466844507/
Overall Race Summary
Participants: There were approximately 500 participants .
Weather: A bright sunny evening with little breeze
Course: This course is fully left handed with very little in the way of inclines. Good road surface. These are nice narrow country roads with shelter provided by mature hedgerows. This year the race finished with 3/4 of a lap of the Dunboyne AC track.
Refreshments: Lots and lots as is the tradition with BHAA Events - served outside the scouts hall at the track.

You can download the photographic image here direct to your computer or device. This version is the low resolution web-quality image. How to download will vary slight from device to device and from browser to browser. However - look for a symbol with three dots 'ooo' or the link to 'View/Download' all sizes. When you click on either of these you will be presented with the option to download the image. Remember just doing a right-click and "save target as" will not work on Flickr.
I want get full resolution, print-quality, copies of these photographs?
If you just need these photographs for online usage then they can be used directly once you respect their Creative Commons license and provide a link back to our Flickr set if you use them. For offline usage and printing all of the photographs posted here on this Flickr set are available free, at no cost, at full image resolution.

If you feel that the photograph(s) you request are good enough that you would consider paying for their purchase from other photographic providers or in other circumstances we would suggest that you can provide a donation to any of the great charities in Ireland who do work for Cancer Care or Cancer Research in Ireland.
We use Creative Commons Licensing for these photographs
We use the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License for all our photographs here in this photograph set. What does this mean in reality?
The explaination is very simple.
Attribution- anyone using our photographs gives us an appropriate credit for it. This ensures that people aren't taking our photographs and passing them off as their own. This usually just mean putting a link to our photographs somewhere on your website, blog, or Facebook where other people can see it.
ShareAlike – anyone can use these photographs, and make changes if they like, or incorporate them into a bigger project, but they must make those changes available back to the community under the same terms.
Creative Commons aims to encourage creative sharing. See some examples of Creative Commons photographs on Flickr: www.flickr.com/creativecommons/
I want to tell people about these great photographs!
Great! Thank you! The best link to spread the word around is probably http://www.flickr.com/peterm7/sets
Parchment scroll, dating back to the 1740's. As described by Elsie Toms in her book - The Story of St Albans, on page 128.
When I met with Nishi and Kris this past February, and asked them to describe "their style" they said: modern, urban, "funky bohemian" - and they wanted a cake to reflect their unique qualities.
Alas... one of my FAVORITE cakes to have made!
Chocolate fondant is piped with apple green scrolling inspired by their invitations, with an offset lower tier bouquet of orchids and roses.
The cake was a displayed in an amazingly beautiful room decorated by Calee of www.calleeslilies.net in San Jose. The table she provided for the cake to be displayed on was perfect and got a front and center spot right next to the bride/groom and bridal party tables.
Flavor: "Mexican Hot Chocolate" - Marble cake with Cayenne and Cinnamon, Milk Chocolate custard, Caramel and White Chocolate Truffle.
Clients: Nishi and Kris, married June 7, 2008 at Canyonview in San Ramon, CA
This pillow is based on a bus scroll that listed destinations along the Oakridge bus line in Vancouver. Vancouver’s public transit system completed its transition from streetcars to buses, “from rails to rubber” by 1955. There was public enthusiasm for the new electric trolley buses that passengers found quieter and cleaner than the well-worn streetcars. In the 1980s, when other cities were eliminating them, BC Transit renewed its commitment to the quiet pollution-free efficiency of trolley buses.. This scroll was in use about 1975 to 1985.

We're thinking out of the box - or, in this case, out of the gift shop. In an intitiative that goes beyond the traditional approach of cultural institutions of hosting a gift shop on location, the MOV has created a model that works directly with local retailers to both stock and produce items inspired by the MOV collection.

I bought this AMAZING black haori today! My friend sells kimono and she's had this piece on hold for me for quite awhile. She told me she had to fend off other rabid customers because it is a very impressive piece! I finally picked it up today and am very pleased with my purchase. :)

Copyright Advisory
The original image has no indicated copyright but is believed published before 1905. Technical trivia
The original image had a much lighter left image than right. Each frame was scanned independently, fitting useful density to the window with a curves adjustment. This approach eliminates the sepia toning of the original but seems to enhance overall contrast. Image manipulations and gif generation performed with StereoPhotoMaker, a freeware program by Masuji Suto & David Sykes.
