For the day, when America, will be a nation of intellect and compassion.
Thanks for visiting my photostream
Today was so sunny and lovely. The plan is to put the sun in a jar and save it for a rainy day. Sound good? Good. :)
This morning I had SAT's...round two. BLAH! I hate sitting in the same place for five hours! My brain turned to mush by section ten. Guess we'll see how that one turns out in about 18 days. ;) Oh and today I finally ordered a remote and an awesome tripod (thanks to the help of chriscosta77). I can't wait for them to get here so I can finally start doing some decent selfies!
I'm going to the lake tonight with a few of my best friends and spending the day there tomorrow. I'll be sure to get some pictures. :) Happy Saturday everybody!
explored!

Saving Myself 2014
“You think I'm perfect and I am safe and, in your head, I can do anything... but I can’t save you, I can only save myself..."
Was riding with my son in the car today. He was eating a bag of candy in the backseat. He says out of the blue, "I'm saving what remains" and it just struck me as a wonderful title for an image. He bought a bag of candy while I bought a bouquet of peonies. I like my purchase better.
Prambanan is one of 1007 Official UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
By a quick count, I've visited 93 of them.
Here is the complete list: whc.unesco.org/en/list/

This Monster Snapper had stopped in the middle of the road. A group of us helped encourage it to move on before it ate a car or became turtle soup

Background: Got a little lazy so I just downloaded the background from Google image and then added the clock and flying hearts :).
A reminder for folks living in the US that it will be daylight saving time this weekend, so don't forget to spring your clock forward by 1 hour. That means we will all lose an hour of sleep....which I really hate :(
Have a great Friday and weekend ahead dear friends!

My theme of deforestation is the next one in my environmental series Footprints.
With my previous photo “Leaving the Grid Behind” I discussed an individuals carbon footprint. I didn't want to come across as preachy, I just wanted to make someone stop and think twice even for a moment.
Well, the same goes for this topic. I sometimes just feel so sad as I drive along a familiar route to oneday find it has been clearcut in preparation for a new subdivision. Urban sprawl has been happening for hundreds of years for varying reasons but again with our exploding population we are at an alltime high. The effects of it are devastating to our planet. Imagine, 36 football fields of forest are lost to us every minute around the globe. That is a staggering number!
It’s not just development that has our forests being destroyed, it’s agriculture, unsustainable logging and degradation due to climate change. There is something called carbon sink which is basically the forest soaking up the carbon dioxide that would normally stay in our atmosphere and cause further climate change. They estimate that 15% of greenhouse gas emissions are the result of deforestation.
In addition to this, there is a disruption of water cycles, increased soil erosion and disrupted biodiversity and livelihoods.

On a creative note, I loved shooting this photo. I found a field that had recently been clearcut and I knew I had to get back there quickly to get the shot. I have an amazing new model that I have been working with, Sarah Ruest, and she was more than willing to get really muddy with me. Thanks Sarah!
Take the time to do something green today no matter how big or little!
At the Outdoor Lab school near Mount Evans, Colorado
Recent budget cuts have lead to the suspension of the Outdoor Laboratory Schools in Jefferson County, Colorado. The program has been around for more than 50 years. I have had the privilege of both attending when I was a sixth grader and also teaching classes at the school while my little brother attended. My dad even went to the school when he was a kid. It is a Jefferson Country tradition that kids have been able to experience for years. Outdoor Lab is an incredibly important program, especially for the kids who attend who have not spent much time up in this beautiful place that we live in. I have both witnessed and experienced the good that this program can do. However, in order to keep the school up and running, they need private funding, and lots of it.
Please take the time to go to the website listed above, watch the news story on the program, and donate some money. Any amount helps to keep the school going!
...not quite on the first day of Standard Time. But aren't the colours amazing?

Sauna with S.

Anteckningar:
Sauna plans with Seraphine were altered when the Letsworth boy threw himself in the lake. Luckily I was already swimming. Arthur refused medical attention after I dragged him out of the freezing water, but ended up defrosting himself in the sauna as he sat with me, Sera and Jamie.
I want a new lens guys.
This was actually such a hard picture to take. I'm AWFUL at shooting subjects from above, let alone myself.
Both of my hands were suppose to be in this but holy crap it's so hard holding loads of change and pushing your remote button. Haha
Had this idea for awhile. The composition for this was greatly inspired by Billeh Ratsphangthong's photo " Dreams Can't Understand What I See." Go check it out!

Whiteford Point Lighthouse is located off the coast Whiteford Sands, on the Gower Peninsula, South Wales. It is an unusual cast-iron lighthouse built in 1865. It is the only wave-swept cast-iron tower of this size in Britain and believed Europe. The tower is 44 feet (13 m) high and stands just above low-water level.
I had a very pleasant stroll along the seafront this morning. Not to many people about and it was warm enough to leave my coat at home.
I still have my camera set to mono and have also had a play in LR and PS.
while sitting on a sofa. It's not so difficult after all and it certainly doesn't need superpowers!
Here I am, warm, well fed, healthy, sitting and relaxing doing nothing. I have nothing to complain of.
There are many other people not as fortunate, people whose job is to go out and deliver my food, health professionals who risk their lives to care for the sick, the sick who may die without any family visitors, the family who wait at home not knowing whether their loved ones will survive.
Compared to them, my task is trivial. It's the least I can do to help them by keeping out of the way. Absolutely, totally out of physical contact.
