"I just know that every man I kill, the farther away from home I feel."

Today marks the 74th Anniversary of D-Day, and this year marks the 20th Anniversary of Saving Private Ryan. For this occasion, I thought it would be fun to revert back to my days in the LEGO WWII community and make Captain Miller from the film.

This guy was a lot of fun to make. He has painted boots, leggings, belt, field jacket, undershirt, cuffs, and the Rangers patch. The vest and holster are made from cloth and was then painted. The head isn't perfect, but it does its job. The stubble and brows were painted, and the hair was sculpted.

The helmet is a BrickArms M1 Pot Helmet with added straps, painted Captain Bars, and the 2nd Rangers insignia on the back.

He's armed with a painted BrickArms M1A1 Thompson submachine gun.

What do you guys think? Let me know!

Day 312

This photo is so I can look back and remember (plus I'm tired, been working hard!). This is my view from the bedroom window. It is a lovely view and I will miss it. I've been cleaning and moving small stuff to the new/old place all week. I'm getting excited!! Tonight is my last night here. I'll be moving the furniture and be completely moved on Tuesday!! Then I can relax, give my back a break, and enjoy a different view :-)

any excuse to get next to Jessica Alba :)

After losing GP9R 1751 to a main bearing failure the previous week, MP15AC GATX 326 has thankfully been brought in to solve the G and U's locomotive issues, albiet temporarily. Its quite refreshing to run a decent piece of power for a change. 8/4/2016

"It was really nice of you to invite Charcoal to live with us, but where is he going to sleep?

"With you in your bed."

"Umm, OK. I don't want to be rude or anything, but is that smell of his going to go away?"

"Phillip, shhhh he may hear you."

"His left ear is burnt off...I am assuming he can't."

"That's right.....well, probably not. Just make him sleep on your right side...your right nostril doesn't work anyway."

"Duh Marble, but I can still smell!"

"And he can still hear you."

"Oh, sorry Charcoal."

This is a before and after of the kinds of photos I'm working on at the moment. These photos were shot in semi-darkness with a Sony ILCEO ⍺6500, which being a cropped sensor camera tends to be somewhat noisy. DXO PhotoLab 4 using DeepPRIME cleans up most of the noise and other tweaks in DXO bring up the values to a better level. I then transfer the file to Photoshop where I sharpen the image using Topaz AI Sharpen and otherwise color correct with the tools in Photoshop. It pays to shoot in raw, folks.

Feel free to zoom in on the dark upper half and compare the noise with that of the lower image.

Writing a new Chapter in the History of Photography - IMPOSSIBLE INSTANT FILM (for Polaroid cameras)

New York City, March 22, 2010.

After 17 months of research and development, The Impossible Project announced that it succeeded in its task of re-producing a new analog Instant Film for traditional Polaroid cameras.

Containing more than 30 newly developed components, Impossible today introduced a new, monochrome Instant Film - the PX 100 and PX 600 Silver Shade - and is therewith saving millions of perfectly functioning Polaroid cameras from becoming obsolete (as Polaroid discontinued its instant film

production early in 2008).

Impossible has beyond that started collaborations with international photographers,

who were invited to work with the new film material and therewith created a base

for The Impossible Collection – a growing archive of contemporary Instant Photography

artworks. Furthermore, the supporters of The Impossible Project recently

placed a binding offer to purchase the International Polaroid Collection, located

in the Musée de l‘Elysée, Lausanne. Impossible‘s intention is not only to preserve

and protect this unique collection from being sold in parts, but also to re-open and

expand it by providing the new Impossible film materials to contemporary artists.

A grand Impossible Project‘s Space, hosting a shop as well as a gallery, will open on

April 30, 2010 at 425 Broadway in New York City – celebrating the magic and the

bright future that analog Instant Photography is now facing.

PX 100 and PX 600 Films will be available online at www.the-impossible-project.com

in a limited, First Flush Edition from Thursday, March 25th onwards, and shortly

thereafter at selected premium retail partners all over the world.

In summer 2010, Impossible plans to present its first PX Color Film.
