Brownie Sampler
This tray of brownies was created by Bakers Man for a celebration where I work. "Lines" are always interesting in photos, especially when its food! I only ate one...(Ha!)
The cursive letter "A a" is hand embroidered and rests on machine stitched notebook paper-inspired lines. All this cuteness is done on a beautiful natural cotton and the other side is fabric I designed and had printed by Spoonflower on a wonderful linen/cotton blend. The lining is red polka dot cotton and the zipper is black. This pouch also features a brown ribbon handle.
These 3 bold fabrics work great together!
This zipper pouch is my own pattern, wider at the base makes it roomier inside. It measures 6" wide and 5" high.
I had the hardest time seeing the pattern based on both the illustration and photo in the book... So I went with higher contrast fabrics.
This sampler was stitched as a gift for my parents when they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary and was my first endeavor into hardanger and pulled thread embroidery. The roses embellishing the heart at the top are created with ribbon embroidery. This sampler is not for the faint of heart! I needed the patient guidance of my local cross stitch shop to help me make the first cut after having spent many hours stitching. Still makes my palms sweat to think about it!
Sampler's only around at Cristmas time. Image from Seventy Years of the Garden Factory by Warwick Johnston. 2008. Book in my collection.
For my sampler blanket - the first knitting project I started, but not the first I've finished. I've been working on it for a year and a half, and have only knit up half of the yarn. Plymouth Yarn's Encore 25% wool 75% acrylic.
I'm not so sure I really like the yarn, now that I've knit with wool/alpaca blends and Noro... but I do like that I've been able to grow and challenge my knitting skills by making each set of squares an excuse to learn a new pattern.
Wedding Sampler made in 2009. Chart adapted from one printed in "Cross Stitch Crazy" magazine. The finished product is always a tiny bit larger than an 8x10" frame. Stitched on 14count aida and adapted according to the personal details of the couple.
This sampler is an Irish Shamrock sampler. I stitched it while our youngest daughter was very much into Irish music -- she plays Irish flute. It features a sterling silver shamrock charm hanging in the center of the heart. I loved the design by the Sweetheart Tree.
