My first "real" quilt, made during a fantastic 9-week beginner's class at my LQS. I'm lost selecting fabrics, but I did my very best with workmanship. My fabric plan can be seen in the rail fences: one water-drop batik in each blue, green, and yellow; one freckle in blue, green, and yellow; and one color+white for each. It's a total mess color-wise, but it is durably constructed and *most* of the points are where they're supposed to be. I learned a LOT in this class.

A few more blocks quilted from my Hip to be Square/free motion sampler quilt. Blogged at colormequilty.blogspot.com/
Last year, I started several projects at the beginning of the year. One was a combination of the Craftsy BOM from 2012, and Amy Gibson's Sugar Block Club. It was my intention to make a queen sized sampler quilt. I finally caught up with some new projects, and so decided to get back to my Sampler quilt. I had 21 blocks, and decided I needed 30, so these are the other 9. Some are from the original project, and a few are blocks that I liked and decided to do rather than paper piece, or other things that I haven't enjoyed that much. I plan to do sashing and cornerstones and borders, so I'm not sure how far I'll get before Bonnie's 2014 mystery. My house is needing attention, and I MUST make that a priority.

The rather morbid sentiment of this sampler was meant as ‘momento mori’, a reminder that we are all mortal.

This sampler quilt was started at a quilting course in 1980. I'd made most of the blocks when we had to pack up the house and move countries. The pieces had been packed away ever since. With my interest in quilting recently reinvigorated, I decided to finally look at it again and finished it in February 2009. Better twenty-nine years late than never!
