I needed just one more square for such a long time! Finally, I got it quilted by Pam, it looks great!
Here are two more color versions of the layered floral. I combined basic and half drop versions with both dark and light backgrounds in one swatch to save money. I've already printed four or five of them in an attempt to get colors I like. Changed them all this time except a couple of greens. I also had some dark yellow flowers, and some light in the dark background version, but they show no apparent difference.
Still not happy! I don't know what's wrong. I've picked from my chart, and tried not to get red/blues and green/blues together, but, again, it just didn't work! The light sides of the bluebells on the light background have a red/violet tint that doesn't work with the blue background. Think I'll try making them solid in the darkest of the blues.
The stranded top row looks fine and sharp, The perle gives a dense appearance with a shiny soft look, whilst the wool appears coarse and open.
Above the herringbone is a row of couched fancy thread, and above that is a row of tulip stitch, interspersed with dragonfly beads - a part of week 2.
Theme is Nautical/Sea related and the colors I'm using are Navy, Lt Pink, Dark Gold, Antique White, and BlueGray. I'm loving the format (one small square (or in my case "shape") a day)!!
this one had me choked up a little. Such a lovely tribute to the memory of four(!) infant children of Benjamin and Mary Knight
This water sampler is lowered into the ocean and then the sampling bottles around the outside are capped one at a time to collect water samples as the apparatus is pulled slowly upward through the water column.

This is a sampler that took me a year to piece. Most of the time I had to work on it while lying on my back because of a back problem I was having.
This is a sampler worked by Sophia Avers aged 10 in 1846. Sophia used to live in Benson in Oxfordshire. The text reads 'The rising morn cannot assure that we shall end the day, for death may stand without the door to call our souls away'. These words are also in Hymn 2:8 (Hosanna, with a cheerful sound) and versions of these are popular on epitaphs on gravestones.
This sampler is currently on display in the Middlemarch section of our History Gallery.
