Die denken jetzt, dass ich denke, dass ihr Namen mich an das Provinzkaff aus dem sie stammen erinnert - mich erinnert das aber leider an nix.
She was rerooted in the same color as Style Mantra Eden.. I chose this color because it is a perfect match with her eyebrows. She is modeling two different jewelry sets handmade by me...
The Ludovisi Gaul (also Galatian Suicide, Suicide of a Gaul, or more accurately Gaul Killing Himself and His Wife) in the Palazzo Altemps in Rome is an oversized Docimaean marble statue group of a standing naked male figure in the act of stabbing himself in the neck with a short sword while supporting a dying woman on his left arm. The two figures are Gauls (or Galatians), a Celtic people of Asia Minor (not France!), and are generally considered to have been part of the same group as the Dying Gaul, which is now in the Capitoline Museum in Rome. (The Kneeling Youthful Gaul in the Louvre, and others, might have been part of a much larger group originally erected in Pergamon.)
These sculptures are Roman copies of the original Greek bronzes by Epigonos originally commissioned by King Attaus I to celebrate his victory over the Gauls in 240 BC. They are identified as Gauls by the clothes, wavy hair, mustache, the weapons on the base, and the custom of Galatian chieftains to bring wives to the battle. The location of their discovery supported the notion that the marble sculptures were made for Julius Caesar in memory of his victory over the Gauls, this time the Celtic people of the West (France / Asterix). However, current thinking places the marble works a century or so after the death of Caesar.
The sculpture was lightly restored using Carrara marble. The only major new parts are the four hands and lower arms, as well as parts of the fluttering cloak.
The Palazzo Altemps in Rome is part of the Museo Nazionale Romano (National Roman Museums) and is used to display around 150 quality sculptures from antiquity. Highlights of the museum include the Altemps, Boncompagni Ludivisi, and Mattei collections such as the Ludovisi Gaul, the Ludovisi Throne, a seated Ares, exceptional sarcophagi, colossal heads, and magnificent further sculptures from antiquity that were restored to various degrees, especially in the baroque period. The museum is absolutely worth visiting and included in combination tickets with the Palazzo Massimo in Rome.

You see, on a day like this.

I almost titled this "another sushi wednesday," but clearly this is not a Wednesday. Our usual sushi night last night was taken over by hamburgers, which was then replaced by a dinner out at Contigo. So Steve made sushi tonight instead: California rolls, salmon rolls, and salmon sashimi. Between our fish monger no longer having frozen king crab legs and Bell's in Noe Valley closing, it had been a while since we had had them for our California rolls. Luckily Safeway has them, because dungeness crab, while local, doesn't have quite the same flavor.
Went back to the same store on the way in to work and didn't see any more Blue Heaven.
I did spot some Red Wing dinnerware. Tampico, Ebb Tide, and a Town & Country bowl designed by Eva Zeisal.
(All for $5 bucks.)

Same wreath, same door, same nail, same boy as this picture... just a year later and about five inches taller.
