"You know, a heart can be broken, but it keeps on beating, just the same."

Sint Nicholaskerk is the most seen and at the same time overlooked church in Amsterdam as well as being one its most recent constructions, no one can miss this iconic structure upon arrival to the city walking from Centraal Station your eye is immediately drawn to it at 58 m in height it towers over the city skyline.
This Roman Catholic Church was designed by Architect Adrianus Bleijs and is a nod to the past combining elements of neo-Baroque and neo-Renaissance styles, completed in 1887 it was made a minor Basilica in 2012.
The church is dedicated to the 4th century charitable patron saint of children that became our Santa Claus as well as the patron saint of sailors and prostitutes, another winning combination.
In the Netherlands Santa Claus is known as Sinterklaas and a feast has been celebrated for over 700 years in his name and adopted in the early part of 20th century the tradition of leaving small gifts in children’s shoes was practiced on Dec 6th which has evolved now to become a Dec 5th evening tradition of gathering of family and friends to exchange gifts and laughter.
While Dutch Sinterklaas celebrations are mainly for the children its adult component is an annual grievance poem written to the recipient that must rhyme and be read out loud by the subject at the evening party all in good fun but beware you may get as good as you give.
I took this on Sept 10th, 2017 with my D750 and Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens at 58mm 15 sec f/16 ISO100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , Luminar and DXO

Same place as the preceding shot but about ten minutes later. The ice had just about melted but left the sparkling drops of water so I took a shot as nothing to lose...
Skippers Road has some rather hairy parts including this area where there is a shear drop down to the Shotover river. An impressive view that was asking for a panorama. This is ~>180 degrees so yes that is the same road on both sides.
Photoshop is exceptional at merging photos, these were taken hand held so pretty impressed to get this. I did fill in some of the gaps around the edges.
Thanks to Rich and Shaz for taking us on the mad mission.

About the same size as a Robin. Frequently sits on exposed perches. Adult male Stonechats have an all black head, with an obvious white collar on the neck. The underparts are a deep orange-brown, while the back and mantle are streaked brown and black. The rump is brown with black streaks. The tail is black. In flight, shows a small white patch at the base of the wing. Rarely, male Stonechats have a thin white supercilium, though never as extensive as on a Whinchat. Adult females are similar to male Stonechats, but have the black on the head and back replaced with dark brown. Juveniles are rather grey with with fine black streaking all over. First-winter Stonechats appear like a pale version of the adult female, the head being beige-brown.

The same location — autumn 2013 (an HDRI shot from 3 exposures).
To be honest, I like my Hektor variant better, especially since it was created with far less technical effort and is closer to photography in the classical sense.

I had a brilliant afternoon on a big low tide, chasing patterns, and trying to trap the sky in the sand. The reflections weren't great as there was so much small weed and debris about, but the sand waves and ripples were wonderful. later in the day I spotted a Portuguese man of war washed up. Same direction by Hoobastank is perfect, as the sand seemed to be echoing the cliff strata.
Same Downtown Dubai viewpoint as the prior shot but this one in the morning. The air was still hazy and very humid.
GPS is the exact spot of the shot.

Same spot handheld waiting for the clouds to roll over the Argus Range from 15 miles away. The light was rapidly changing.
taken on the same day as www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/40361665933/in/datepo.... It was a long time ago that I used my drone, and I wanted to go to the south part of the Biesbosch to see if I could make an additional image of another part of the Noordwaard. It would make a nice addition to www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/42514739985/in/datepo....
The weather was great, there was excellent light, but when coming back home, there was not a single shot of the part that I made a picture of that was worth showing. All too empty and flat.
Luckily I also turned the drone around straight into the sun, and there was the depth that i found thanks to the large shadows of the low hanging sun and the trees giving the shadows.
And another nice addition is the haze in the distance, and again the extremely clear images of DJI mavic.
A lesson learned i guess, making drone shots can be very difficult.

Same village, same street, same spot!
Finiki -- Kàrpathos --- Greece
Finiki is a coastal settlemennt, built by the local fishermen.
Until 1900 Finiki was the main commercial port of Karpathos. The village is situated in a large natural bay, which means a well protected marina for the smaller boats.

Same day and still early morning - 08h30, about half an hour later than yesterday's post at sunrise. Although sunrise is over by now, it is still early morning light which kept me going for another half hour.
I spent three days around Vestrahorn, allowing me to capture this iconic site under a variety of weather conditions, both in the early mornings and late afternoons. The whole series is at www.flickr.com/photos/132192297@N04/albums/72157677866574087.
