Still January 3, 2014, but at about 3:15 pm. The snow seems to have ended, for this storm, & the sun is out. Tomorrow is supposed to be clear & in the 20s F. I love the shadows on the snow! Can you see the Cardinal at the safflower seed feeder, Blue Jay on the apple tree, &, I think, a Titmouse on the suet feeder?
Sets off under the M3 motorway then struggles up to Oliver's Battery on the way into Winchester.
To the right of the bus can be seen the low viaduct which carried the Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway over the watermeadows to the south of Winchester. This was between Winchester Chesil, Winchester's other railway station and Shawford Jct, where it joined the mainline from Waterloo to Southampton.
This cross country route carried a lot of freight to and from Southampton Docks during WW2. However when the war finished a lot of its strategic importance was lost and it lived a slow, lingering death until being closed around 1965. Tha viaduct is a listed structure and therefore cannot be demolished.
but looking back along the footpath. The busy A1071 runs a little way behind the trees, the faint sound of passing traffic ever present in the background.

I have shot same place before, but with the kit len. This one is using the SLR MAGIC with aperture fully opened. While I was using a%%, 35mm is my favorite focal length. After I took the foto lesson, SEL50F18 seems better. However, it is only for shooting model. I don't have the chance to try it outside.

Full series is on Photostream as some groups restrict upload numbers, there are 8 monochrome variants and one colour using the new FLAT profile.
My Monochrome,T-Max,Portra Mono, B&W Portrait,Tri-X,in camera monochrome, in camera monochrome*( which went too dark so added same profile but with +1ev then one FLAT colour.
Lens was the Nikkor 24mm f2.8 AFD giving 35mm equivalent, auto iso, A Priority, single point autofocus on the hands.

As I was standing down by the bike, it was a quick change by this bull. He was sniffing the air and then all of a sudden he comes around the tree and seemed to be at full run right where I was standing. I took a step back and you can tell my pictures are not the sharpest, but I continued shooting. At the last minute he turned. I think that maybe he was running after the other female that went the opposite direction. I have to say it was a heart stopping moment, but I was determined to capture a photo.

the Chilko Lake crossing is so fast in calm water. sun is nice, but lack of wind is the best!
the color of the lake is truly amazing. its a captivating glacial runoff teal. nice to see how clear the lake is too, not too many power boats up here, ahem. problem is its as cold as it is clear.
it would have been great to have a dip when we got back to the campsite - but then it started snowing, lol.
Chilko Lake seems to suck the clouds in a bit or create its own low pressure system somehow. there were a number of times up on ridges where we could see dark clouds hanging around the lake while we were totally sunny.
