The AVR Extra Job is finally on the move again after interchanging traffic with Norfolk Southern at Island Avenue. Today's consist is made up of a handsome pair of maroon SD40-2R's. Miraculously (and surprisingly) the sun came out for our photos, after a morning of torrential downpours. I am sure Ian will remember this day well, for better or worse - but in my opinion shooting this train made the day much better!

I made this as a kitchen towel, but it turns out to also be charming as a table runner! I hand stitched around some of the pears to secure the two sides together. I just love the way it turned out, don't you? I blogged about this at www.bcharmer.blogspot.com

Here is the table runner so far partner! Hopefully I will finish it today and be able to make something else cute with the leftover HST's :)

The Rail Runner pulled in from Albuquerque just as the snow flurries subsided and the sun came back out in force, for a moment, yet the dark dramatic sky prevailed and frost is in the forecast for tonight.

At mile 7 at 8:00 this fellow was almost a full minute ahead of runner #2. I wonder how he did at the end.
