The expression and light are magical. Tough call today!

This light is bounced off the base of the fireplace cam left. Again, the D40 shows off its 1/500 flash sync speed killing the sunny rear window.

I had literally milliseconds to decide weather I take this shot or not. I would like a better result but some times you get as much. New Orleans river side.

Virginia Rail

Summer Lake Wildlife Area, OR

A Virginia Rail alerts its chick of a potential predator lurking along the bank. Soon after this shot, the rail and its chick raced out of the area squabbling the whole way and I caught a glimpse of why – a mink was lurking along the bank in the shadows.

Rails have physical adaptations to help them move quickly through the blades of nearly impenetrable sedges and reeds along the edges of a marsh, as well running across or diving into water if needed. These adaptations include a laterally compressed body, long toes, flexible vertebrae, and wings that aid in diving under water. As a group, rails have the highest ratio of leg muscles to flight muscles of any bird which may explain their propensity to walk or run instead of flying.

East Greenland Dog Sled Expedition

Travelling with Inuit hunters over the frozen fjords of East Greenland.

...passing Bowling, noticed that the painter was having an "off day" when doing the name on one side :D

If it weren't for it's odd sounding coo-coo sound call, I would have not known it was nearby. Once it spotted me, it left its lookout perch atop a small tree.

Interesting facts about Road Runners:

1. Many kinds of birds exhibit obvious contrasting physical characteristics between the sexes besides the sexual organs themselves, a phenomenon known as sexual dimorphism. The greater roadrunner is not such a bird: Males and females look extremely similar.

2. Road Runners can run 42km/h or 26mph.

3. They eat insects, spiders and centipedes, rodents, small mammals, and reptiles, including rattle snakes.

4. They live about 7-8 years in the wild. 5. Although not the preferred prey of coyotes, coyotes do eat Road Runners if they can catch one. ;-)

Thrilled to be the Audubon 2018 Photography Awards Amateur Honorable Mention. Thanks for all of the kind comments and faves over the last year!

Just a little build for Blade Runner 2049, I'm really excited for the movie Blade Runner was a amazing movie. I hope the new one can live up to the old one.

They were stopping for no one so I did..

There can be only one! The Helsinki Roosters (6-0) are now the only undefeated team in Vaahteraliiga, after they beat the Hämeenlinna Huskies (4-1) 8 - 35 on June 19th at Kaurialan kenttä, in Hämeenlinna, Finland. Here's Huskies' Roman Runner making a nice high-flying catch during the game.

Liberties Fun Run 2025

A flash of blue and bare legs and this hardy runner jogs by under the cool dark green gaze of the giant Mountain Ash and tree ferns on a wet, overcast winters day. Sherbrooke Forest, Dandenong Ranges

Nothing like an evening jog... I haven't done that since my much younger days but still, if I concentrate I can vaguely remember what it was like ;))

... but a inspirent atmo on the way along the Seine

Over the years I have taken tons of images at the back of the house specifically in our garden. I think this is the first time I have taken from the front of our home. The other Sunday about 6,000 runners came down the road near the beginning of the Hull half marathon . I thought I would take a photo as it was such an unusual event . I took a lot of shots which were mostly dreadful luckily this one seemed to work. I particularly liked the expression on runner number 10446. I hope she finished the course

THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT TO MY STREAM.

I WOULD BE VERY GRATEFUL IF YOU COULD NOT FAVE A PHOTO

WITHOUT ALSO LEAVING A COMMENT .

Another capture from the marathon yesterday.
