There can be only one! The Helsinki Roosters (6-0) are now the only undefeated team in Vaahteraliiga, after they beat the Hämeenlinna Huskies (4-1) 8 - 35 on June 19th at Kaurialan kenttä, in Hämeenlinna, Finland. Here's Huskies' Roman Runner making a nice high-flying catch during the game.
Decided to scratch another shot off my bucket list and get a good hike in as well. Decided on shooting the westbound Z at the Galt line change, from the classic angle. A shot I've attempted multiple times before only to stare at empty rails all day.
Trouble was afoot from the start. Turned on my scanner as I started my hike to hear mechanical working with a train in emergency with DPU issues in Clover Creek Canyon. But the DS also mentioned the Z was nearing the UT/NV border.
An eastbound had passed me earlier, and after a few hours was asking for a signal. I knew from the timing and his location that he'd had to make a meet and that my train was on the way. The DS informed him there was a train in distress ahead of him on the main and to stay put.
After a couple hours I heard the rumble of a train coming through the canyon, and bagged my shot. Scanner chatter indicated that the train in distress combined with a train behind had basically shut down the railroad, and there was no point in hoping for another westbound. I hiked back to my vehicle and called it a day.
My other choice for Macro Mondays...Card. I actually like this one better than the one I posted to the group but thought the group might not accept it since it's hard to see that it's four cards, not just a group of numbers.
Went for an early morning stroll.

Nothing like an evening jog... I haven't done that since my much younger days but still, if I concentrate I can vaguely remember what it was like ;))

She is a force, and we only do this when she has a destination. Otherwise its good-bye Rosie!!
Red Runner Retreat
~~~~~
A cloudy night at an old cafe and gas station along historic Route 66, Mojave Desert. This structure had burned on the same evening as the Goffs General Store, likely due to arson. Volunteers had cleaned up much of the area and even repainted part of the historic "retreat" sign. This structure was the former cafe. After two long years, my night photography friends and I got together for an eight-night trip to Nevada and California. This was a 1856-mile night photography safari with Tim Little, Mike Cooper, and George Loo, and George the monkey. Illuminated during the exposure by a full moon trying to break through the clouds and a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 light painting device. This photo will most likely appear in my third history/night photography book I'm working on now. Thank you.
I shot the local softball league finals the other night. We should have a few in Sunday's paper.
Cliff's Meat Market's Lucy Stephenson (cq) makes a mad dash for third while Chapel Hill Air's Diane Koenigshafer (cq) waits for the throw at second base during the rirst game of the hard-fought double-header softball finals at Carrboro's Hank Anderson Park on Tuesday evening. Cliff's Meat Market went on to win both games, taking the championship in Carrboro Parks and Recreation's Spring Adult Co-Rec Softball league.
CSX GP38-2 2677 was leading a westbound Rock Runner off of the Alexandria Extension at Riverdale to head for West Virginia in 2002.
Built as Louisville and Nashville 6026 in 1979, this EMD is still active on the CSX roster as of 2024.
I saved the best for last. Well you can stand on the tracks and get run over by the train to get the Sun ball dead center of the track. But I'm Pretty sure this worked ok. In the 3 min's it took the train to pass the Sun had set, But I'm ok with that as well. High shutter speed and Low F stop & ISO400 give the photo the Dark orange affect
Running on a classified arc drive system this large interceptor/fighter is often used as an escort to protect larger space pirate treasure freighter's while in transport.
Made a larger starfighter then usual and it came out looking like a suntron space pirate transport escort fighter - so that's exactly what it is - nothing else.
