To match the color scheme of the last uploaded photos I chose this 2011 shot from California. Walking down the beach to the Restaurant "Cliff House" in San Francisco I saw this runner - the only other person at this part of the beach at that time. Cliff house was excellent by the way. Fantastic food and a view from your table over the Pacific Ocean.

Yesterday I made myself a gift and bought a new camera. I just needed a new instruction book during my morning coffee :-)
So I went to my very familiar places and made some shots. I think the "continuous-shot-mode" works ok.
My buddy and I used to run the perimeter of a golf course in South Eastern Washington state and the summer wheat harvest would fill the air with dust and make these incredible sunsets. Nikkormat FTN, Nikkor 50mm, Kodachrome 25 film, handheld. Taken 1980.

I had literally milliseconds to decide weather I take this shot or not. I would like a better result but some times you get as much. New Orleans river side.

If it weren't for it's odd sounding coo-coo sound call, I would have not known it was nearby. Once it spotted me, it left its lookout perch atop a small tree.
Interesting facts about Road Runners:
1. Many kinds of birds exhibit obvious contrasting physical characteristics between the sexes besides the sexual organs themselves, a phenomenon known as sexual dimorphism. The greater roadrunner is not such a bird: Males and females look extremely similar.
2. Road Runners can run 42km/h or 26mph.
3. They eat insects, spiders and centipedes, rodents, small mammals, and reptiles, including rattle snakes.
4. They live about 7-8 years in the wild. 5. Although not the preferred prey of coyotes, coyotes do eat Road Runners if they can catch one. ;-)
Made a quick dash out to Hood River in hopes of catching a sunset of Mt Hood. It was a fairly cloudy day, but had lots of patches of clear sky giving me high hopes that the fast moving clouds would reveal the mountain just in time for a couple photo’s. Unfortunately, the clouds stuck to Mt Hood like glue and engulfed her totally from view, dashing my high hopes! so I grabbed a quick barn shot on the way out of town as a consolation photo.
On a side note I watched the movie “127 hours” (based on a true story about a climber that becomes trapped under a boulder while canyoneering alone near Moab, Utah and resorts to desperate measures in order to survive) this weekend, which is a great reminder to always leave notes or tell people where you are going when heading out for some hiking / photography fun, something I rarely have done, but this movie really opens your eyes on a how things can turn for the worse in a split second!
