RT 1678, of North Street (Romford) garage (NS) it would seem has just arrived at or is just about to leave the stand in, IIRC, Argyle Road, Ilford. Whatever, it will eventually turn left into York Road, for a long time the layover point for buses from the north terminating at Ilford station.
For many years the 139 ran from Gants Hill station to Dagenham Dock, but in 1975 was extended to Ilford station and diverted away from Eastern Avenue between the Barley Lane and Whalebone Lane junctions to the Rose Lane Estate. Once an entirely Seven Kings (AP) route, NS worked Monday-Friday services from 1972.
To commemorate 50 years since the end of crew operation at Edgware garage, RT 2177 operated on route 292 (the last crew route) on Saturday 15 July 2023. I'm a bit younger than the bus, but I have to say the RT was in better condition and running more smoothly than me!
They are original blinds, from the last bus in 1973.

Three months after the previous photo, RT 3324 now a Bromley based vehicle is caught shortly after arriving in Downe on the 146. Sunday 6th April 1975. 2J-9.
In April 2009, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the withdrawal of the last RT type buses from London, the 'London Bus Co.' registered several routes for one day only in the rural hinterland of Romford that were formerly operated by this type of bus well into the 1970's. Nearly all the buses used were old London RTs that stiil have current PCV licences, meaning that they can carry fare paying passengers. Seen in Romford, this is RT 3062, one of the distinctive immediate postwar batch that were bodied by Saunders of Beaumaris, North Wales. Behind is a much rarer Cravens bodied RT owned by Ensign Bus, of Rainham - they were helping out 'London Bus' for the day. There are still large numbers of roadworthy RTs about - a testament to their rugged build quality, 55 years after the last were built.
As all OO scale modellers should know the EFE RT was the first mass-produced bus model in this scale and spawned a huge market. I was given this example and not being a London Transport collector I decided to convert it into an open-topper and add it to the fleet. EFE's own open-topper is somewhat unrealistic with no upper deck windows or handrails so my conversion has retained the front and rear window frames. KYY 964 is part of the Quicksilver heritage fleet and is used for wedding hires and the like.
Back at Richmond for RF 644, RT 196 was still active in the BHR fleet. Now it resides in Switzerland.
Strange to think that 32 years later I'd be working in the same building as the guy hagning out of the front window with the camera.
Walking up towards home from Clapham North Station often gave the opportunity to get something where Clapham park Road and Bedford Road met, like this rarity on the 35. The fenced off houses have since been listed and restored.
Heading for the delights of Downe, RT 1538 (TB) pulls away from the Keston 'Fox' stop on route 146. Omo on this route with BL vehicles occurred seventeen days later. Wednesday 5th April 1978. 4C-1A.
