14th July 1978 was the last day of RTs on route 140, and this then left only three garages operating the class, Catford, Bromley and Barking. 28 RTs were scheduled at Harrow Weald for the 140 on Monday to Friday. RT 3298 (HD) stops in Yeading Lane, Northholt on a short working to Hayes station. Thursday 3rd October 1974. 2C-9.
RT 3232 almost recreating a sight familier many years ago when London Transport and Thames Valley services called or terminated at Slough Station.RT 3232 was taking part in the Reading Buses Green Line 702 event.
RT 1678, of North Street (Romford) garage (NS) it would seem has just arrived at or is just about to leave the stand in, IIRC, Argyle Road, Ilford. Whatever, it will eventually turn left into York Road, for a long time the layover point for buses from the north terminating at Ilford station.
For many years the 139 ran from Gants Hill station to Dagenham Dock, but in 1975 was extended to Ilford station and diverted away from Eastern Avenue between the Barley Lane and Whalebone Lane junctions to the Rose Lane Estate. Once an entirely Seven Kings (AP) route, NS worked Monday-Friday services from 1972.

RT 2329 masquerading as RT 3607. A stock number was needed, so one was made up, it will be changed soon.
RT 2329 was parked at La Place de La Republique in Paris. One of 3 RTs hired by TimeOut France to act as Information points for the Nuit Blanche event 5/10/13
I think the number of people who saw off the RMs 26 years later was much greater, but the RT symbolised the real end of LT's supremacy in vehicle engineering, just in numbers.
Country route 401 from Upper Belvedere to Sevenoaks ran through some picturesque locations south of Dartford, especially Eynsford and Otford. Seen stopping opposite the village pond at Otford on an unknown date, is RT 3434 (SJ) bearing an advert advising 'Don't drink and cuss, take the bus'. In the background an RF on the 404 from Shoreham Village waits to follow.
This superbly restored bus, delivered in 1940 and restored to it's original wartime condition, is owned by Ensign of Purfleet. It is fully licenced as a public commercial vehicle. It is seen here in the unlikely location of Coryton Oil Refinery on a privately organised trip. London Transport served this point until 1968. It was the furthest east that LT ever got, though the buses were green Country ones rather than red Central ones.
