Little video of a group of Oyestercatchers doing their courtship routine. A lot of them seem to nest in quiet meadows instead of coastal beach's, perhaps too many dog walkers there!
Sometimes we eat not because we are hungry, it's just part of the daily routine...

It was a cold winter morning when biscuit accompanied me on my routine early walk. He made it all that much warmer.
I often see Blackbirds and Robins sunbathing but I think this is the first time I have seen a Chiffchaff, or for that matter a warbler of any kind, sunbathing. It was regularly sunbathing in my back garden throughout yesterday's heat. According to the BTO sunbathing is used by some birds as part of their routine feather maintenance. They find a quiet sunny spot then spread their wings and tail and fluff up their head and body feathers too. This Chiffchaff also tilted its head to one side and opened its bill too. It is thought that using the sun in this way does two things; It helps the preen oil to spread across the feathers and drives parasites out from within the plumage. The uropygial gland that produces the preen oil is just above the rump where that little bald patch is visible. This produces an oil which is distributed by the bird to condition all the plumage, assisting with feather flexibility, waterproofing and anti-parasitic effects.
We have moved and this was our first morning walk. The cats settled straight away so I was happy letting them out, we had a walk around and then it was straight back into unpacking.
Hopefully will try and catch up with you all and get into my flickr routine once I have settled properly. Still have to go back and clean up other property and collect horses which will happen this weekend.
Squirt is fitting in really well by the way and will add some photos soon.

As I photographed this bench from various angles I spotted a dog walker and was able to capture the two together. The dog clearly knows the route and leads the way leading me to believe that this is a routine that doesn't change much. That perhaps the bench is never used by this person. How do routines prevent us from getting the most out of life. Is the man really there with his dog or is he thinking about something else? The practice of mindfulness is about totally being in the moment. Isn't that why we do photography?

This week during a routine TV episode binge watch patrol, noticed 36C in a stock footage shot on Ep 16 season 2 of The FBI. 65-74. First thought was a chuckle in that the wanted commie was on board one of ATSF streamliners. Funny, account the escape route was NYC to Quebec. After several stock shots, 36C was one of the trains. Also many of the same stock footages show up on The Fugitive 63-67. Another Quinn-Martin Production along with Cannon,Barnaby Jones.Dr Kimble was always escaping in the back of trucks,on busses or trains. SP or ATSF. The 2 part finale part 1, without out giving anything away, the one arm man has a large headstart on an SP 6-unit hotshot and Kimble now in custody with Lt. Gerard heading back to Stafford,IN, on an ATSF streamliner. Useless trivia: in 1967 with no VCR's and an important TWINS game, a desision had to be made. Stay home after sitting on pins&needles for 4 years, or go to the game. Solution, they stopped the game for ten minutes and flashed the show results on the big scoreboard. Part 2 Tuesday Sept 5,1967...the day the running stopped. This shot 8/68 LAUPT. San Diegan.
