Reading has always been an important part of my day. Sometimes, the reading is connected with the writing I do to earn a living. The company that publishes the two books in this photo pays me on a per-project basis to write digests of cases and articles to update the books. I work from home.
PS: It would have been more honest, perhaps, to have shown the trashy novels I read often in lieu of watching television (which I dislike), but I couldn't resist the flashy red, black, and gold of these bindings.
Here's another picture of young monks at Paro Dzong in Bhutan. The daily routine of young monks in Bhutan is highly structured and emphasizes academic and spiritual development.
Young monks typically start their day early in the morning, before dawn. They wake up and begin with a series of prayers and meditation practices. After the morning prayers, they attend classes where they study Buddhist philosophy, scripture, and other subjects. Throughout the day, young monks also engage in a variety of activities such as cleaning the monastery, performing rituals, and participating in religious ceremonies.
Discipline, self-control, and respect for others are emphasized in the daily routine of young monks. In addition to their religious education, young monks also participate in physical activities like playing traditional sports and games. However, the amount of time allocated for such activities may vary depending on the monastery, and it is generally limited - Paro Dzong in Paro, Bhutan

Route 114 in Eversfield Gardens, Mill Hill.
This is the third time 1577 has appeared on the route, and happily I've now got a nicer shot than before!
As I photographed this bench from various angles I spotted a dog walker and was able to capture the two together. The dog clearly knows the route and leads the way leading me to believe that this is a routine that doesn't change much. That perhaps the bench is never used by this person. How do routines prevent us from getting the most out of life. Is the man really there with his dog or is he thinking about something else? The practice of mindfulness is about totally being in the moment. Isn't that why we do photography?

Not quite daily but an important part of my Monday routine is being a Beaver Scout leader. They keep me young and looking into different aspects of life.
I am part of Norio's routine in the sense he has to sit on my lap several times a day for affection and warmth. Which raises a question: when did my head get so shiny?
As much as I've had these thoughts from time to time, I am grateful that I have a washer and dryer of my own and don't need to go to a laundromat.

My daily routine always seems to involve the river in some way, much like the city of London itself. Whether I'm crossing it on the river boat (captured above in the light trails) to get to work, or running along the Thames path at the weekend, the river somehow manages to find a way impact my day to day life.

On most mornings I have a routine, doing the same things I did the morning before. Once in a while, I take photos instead.
I'm a creature of habit, and if I don't put my keys in the same place, I'd spend half my life looking for them. Habits and routines go hand in hand and can be good, or not so good. But you get my drift.
It's a little like having an autopilot in our car. It allows us to do one thing while doing another. Again, nothing wrong with that unless we forget where we are going.
I guess my point is that it might be a good idea to step outside our comfort zone now and again to see where we are. For me, that means getting out to take photos. For you, it would be something completely different, but just as important.
