It's easy to understand why the Liberty Belle and the Rivers of America are favorites among photographers. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Oh to be a duck. But... to be a duck at Disneyland, now that is the life. Relaxing on the Rivers of America, waiting for tourists and AP locals to throw some food your way. Yes my friends, that is the life of a...

The Rivers of America hold not only the Sailing Ship Columbia but the Mark Twain and the canoes which can only be found at Disneyland in the U.S..

The Mark Twain maneuvers the narrow passage between Tom Sawyer’s island and main land Disneyland on a crisp clear morning. Its these backwaters and far end of the island that are slated to change beginning in January. This peaceful view may be gone forever soon. While I am excited to see what Star Wars Land will be, I’m saddened by the likely loss of this part of the river.

Another shot of one of the wild birds found throughout Walt Disney World. This Great Egret is normally found along the Rivers of America in the Magic Kingdom's Frontierland.

The Great Egret is a large bird with all-white plumage that can reach one meter in height, weigh up to 950 grams (2.1 lb) and a wingspan of 165 to 215 cm. It is thus only slightly smaller than the Great Blue or Grey Heron (A. cinerea). Apart from size, the Great Egret can be distinguished from other white egrets by its yellow bill and black legs and feet, though the bill may become darker and the lower legs lighter in the breeding season. In breeding plumage, delicate ornamental feathers are borne on the back. Males and females are identical in appearance; juveniles look like non-breeding adults. It is a common species, usually easily seen. It has a slow flight, with its neck retracted. This is characteristic of herons and bitterns, and distinguishes them from storks, cranes, ibises, and spoonbills, which extend their necks in flight.

The Great Egret is not normally a vocal bird; at breeding colonies, however, it often gives a loud croaking cuk cuk cuk.

Day 1 of the Black & White Challenge. I was nominated by Eddison Esteban. I have chosen a black and white version of the previous color and HDR version of Columbia to illustrate that converting a photo to B&W is not as simple as removing the color saturation. For me particularly, my photos tend to be more "artistic" than what is usual, having many adjustments to light, texture and color that brings them beyond a "snapshot". Each scene must be evaluated and adjusted to suit, regardless of color. For this image, I used a single image from the bracket of 5 used in the color version. I found after experimenting with this image that other methods of B&W conversion, such as Nik Silver Effects 2 did not render a version I was happy with, so I chose to make the B&W conversion exclusively using Camera RAW in Photoshop CC. After opening the converted image in CC, some other adjustments were made to correct lighting and contrast using layers. My goal was to keep the image obviously a night scene and maintain the moodiness of the overcast sky without blowing out the detail in the stern lights and shore lighting...

What a great part of the Halloween experience at Disneyland! And what a shame the Rivers of America will be closed next year.
