Barrio del Born. Barcelona.
El Palau Dalmases se encuentra en la popular calle Montcada de Barcelona, repleta de palacios góticos. Es un palacio señorial del siglo XVII fruto de la reforma de un edificio gótico anterior, del cual quedan algunos elementos como la capilla del siglo XV, con bóveda estrellada, y relieves de ángeles músicos rodeando la clave, donde hay una epifanía.
La fachada sigue la línea del gótico catalán, muy sencilla. Lo más interesante es el patio barroco y su escalinata con columnas salomónicas que sostienen los arcos rampantes. La escalinata tiene un friso que representa el rapto de Europa y el carro de Neptuno.
La estrecha calle Montcada, en el popular barrio del Born,alberga un sinfín de palacios ocultos tras porticones de madera. Unos albergan diferentes museos. como el de Picasso, el de las culturas del mundo,etc, otro como este, el Palacio Dalmases, alberga un local de copas y espectaculo flamenco, solo visible si entras

Fumiaki Takano a ensuite inventé, en lien avec le grand maître japonais un très beau projet circulaire, enserrant l'œuvre de Shodo Suzuki, en multipliant par trois la surface des miroir d'eau dans lesquelles se reflètent les nuages.
Represented by corset and crinoline it is a retro look at the same time modern with newspaper prints. This would be the piece that Elyse Jolie would wear during French fashion week when she was asked to run by a famous brand.

The works representing mythological figures.
Drawing on information from the excavation and stylistic comparisons, the pavement has been dated to the first half or middle of the 2nd century AD. A deeper examination of the pavement during its lifting and restoration allowed for an understanding of the construction techniques and the successive phases of installation of its different segments. While the ensemble was realised in situ, in opus tessellatum, the circular medallion, created in opus vermiculatum using miniscule elements, was composed within a workshop upon a terracotta base (the emblema technique) and then inserted into a space left empty in the centre of the shield. The border decorated with a guilloche was added at a third stage in order to camouflage the join between the shield and the emblema. By identifying the material used for the medallion and the guilloche, we can say that the creation of the panel and its insertion were carried out by the same team.

The Crucifixion is at the centre of the altarpiece. Christ is represented as dying on the cross. The Blessed Virgin and Saint John stand on either side of the cross, while Mary Magdalene kneels at the foot. This “Calvary” stands on a small altar as a witness of the unity that exists between the sacrifice of the Cross and that of the Mass.
The way to heavenly bliss
The visual composition directed upwards toward the vault of the church indicates the way to eternal happiness in heaven, an ascent amid angels and stars against a deep blue background. This ascent, as a symbol of life, is traced in the sacrifice of Christ and in the Mass.
Statues of the prophets Isaiah and Daniel, carved by the sculptor Louis-Philippe Hébert in 1882, appear on the right and left sides of the altarpiece.
Over the choir stalls on the right and left sides are six polychrome (painted) statues.
First on the right is Saint Paul, with a sword of his martyrdom in Rome, where he was beheaded. Next are two evangelists and their respective symbols: Matthew, with a winged male figure, and Luke, with his winged ox.
To the left of the altar stands Saint Peter with his keys, and the rooster, recalling Peter’s betrayal of Jesus, his master and friend on the morning of His suffering and death. Then the other two evangelists: John, holding a chalice symbolizing his love for the Eucharist, with the eagle, a sign of his far-seeing gospel, and Mark with his winged lion.

The libraries of the Giorgio Cini Foundation have over 300,000 volumes and represent an extraordinary tool for study and research in the fields of history, art history, literature, music, theater, orientalism. The collections kept on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore are highly specialized and traditionally linked to the activities of the Institutes and Centers in which the scientific activity of the Foundation is divided. The spaces dedicated to the use of the library patrimony are organized around the New Manica Lunga, which, together with the seventeenth-century Library designed by Baldassare Longhena and intended as a reading room, represents the most favorable place for concentration and study. The New Manica Lunga represents the ideal “square” of“Vittore Branca ” International Center for Studies of Italian Civilization, a residential center of humanities where Italian and foreign scholars can spend a research period in the libraries of the Giorgio Cini Foundation.
The book collections of the Cini Foundation include groups on the history of Venice , literature , music , theater and melodrama , on the relations between Venice and the East and between Venice and Europe . The most significant collection, however, is the one dedicated to the history of art , which includes over 150,000 volumes and collections of periodicals with around 800 titles, of which more than 200 are current ones.
This represents a return to a project I'd been working on intermittently for a while - and then somehow lost sight of. By no means finished, eleven of the twelve rectangles here are out-of- camera jpegs. The twelfth is was a minimally adjust raw file out of the TG6. When I started, the idea was to take a single shot under the water every time I swam, and collect them together into an album of colours. Now I have made this - I think I will start again - and save the photos in the order I take them to make a daily record of the colour of the water I swim in, whether it is fresh or salty, clear or murky, sunny or overcast.

In architecture a corbel is a structural piece of stone, wood or metal jutting from a wall to carry a superincumbent weight, often very decorative.
These here in the Gothic Hall of the City Hall in Brugge, are likely to be Late Gothic corbels and all of which are different.

They represent the first few years of my career. I chose making tiny size because it's easier to cast and if I made mistake, I would not waste much material. At that time, I was just graduated, didn't have much money and my father was against me. It's hard and tough, but I had nothing to lose.
Now the condition is much better, but I am worrying that maybe just one slip, I might loose everything. Hope not. :p

L’Antiquité représente pour le peintre Hubert Robert un cadre familier. Il illustre ici l’intérieur d’une basilique romaine : ruines grandioses d’une basilique à la voûte ornée de caissons et à la colonnade corinthienne, qui sert d’étable à un troupeau. La lumière pénètre par le trou de la voûte effondrée et au premier plan, une zone d’ombre, colline de décombres au sommet de laquelle se détache une vache, accentue cet effet remarquable de perspective. Affectionnant tout particulièrement le thème de la galerie, il sublime ces vestiges en tirant parti des dégradations du temps et en les amplifiant. Avec sa touche légère et esquissée, il anime ces ruines d’une façon qui lui est très personnelle en intégrant des personnages s’appropriant très naturellement le lieu.

Villa Ortiz (Estación Coronel Mom) (más conocido como Coronel Mom, o simplemente Mom) es una localidad del Partido de Alberti, Provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Cuenta con 815 habitantes (INDEC, 2010), lo que representa un descenso del 5% frente a los 857 habitantes (INDEC, 2001) del censo anterior.
Coronel Mom es una estación ferroviaria del Ferrocarril Domingo Faustino Sarmiento de la Red Ferroviaria Argentina, en el ramal que une las estaciones de Suipacha y Bayauca. o presta servicios de pasajeros. Sus vías están a cargos de la empresa Trenes Argentinos Cargas,sin embargo las vías se encuentran sin uso y en estado de abandono.
Recibía los servicios provenientes de Once con destino a Lincoln, General Villegas y Realicó. No posee servicios de pasajeros desde 1994.
El tren que transformaba lo cotidiano en mágico

Como tantos, mi pueblo surgió a la vera del ferrocarril y por consecuencia directa del paso del mismo. Corría el año 1907 y el ramal, que luego recibió el nombre de Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, comenzaba a extenderse desde Capital Federal hacia el oeste de la provincia de Buenos Aires y al establecerse la estación, que años más tarde se iba a llamar Coronel Mom, un puñado de casas comenzaron a levantarse alrededor de la misma.
Esta puede ser la historia de innumerables poblados de todo el país, que al igual que mi pueblo, Villa Ortiz .en honor a Alberto Ortiz, propietario de las tierras donde se erigió el mismo., se conformaron a partir del paso del primer tren. Y fue tanta la importancia del tren como motor de vida para las pequeñas poblaciones que Villa Ortiz, también como muchos pueblos del interior, es en realidad, mucho más conocido en la zona, la provincia y por que no el país, con el nombre de Coronel Mom, precisamente la denominación de su estación ferroviaria.
Resulta casi imposible de imaginar lo que los primeros trenes, allá por principios del siglo pasado, provocaban en las sensaciones o sentimientos de la gente. Enormes moles de hierro y humo que con sus sonidos hacían temblar la tierra y seguramente a más de algún desprevenido espectador.
Sí, espectador, porque durante tantísimos años el tren, el simple hecho de observar su paso, era una de las citas obligadas de mis abuelos, por no decir una de las pocas diversiones que podía entregarles un pueblo demasiado pequeño para tantas cosas.
Y esta sencilla acción que puede parecer no implicar muchos matices a su alrededor, tiene en cambio una o varias explicaciones.
No se trataba pura y exclusivamente de una diversión, más allá de que sí lo era, sino que el tren arribaba los viernes por la noche, procedente de Buenos Aires, y volvía a pasar los domingos por la tarde retornando hacía la capital de nuestro país. Lo cual significaba que irremediablemente los viernes llegaban familiares o amigos para disfrutar durante todo el fin de semana de la tranquilidad que podía ofrecerles este pueblo.
Todos, esa gran parte de los habitantes de Villa Ortiz, que concurrían cada viernes y cada domingo a la estación de trenes, vestían sus mejores ropas, porque se trataba indudablemente de un gran acontecimiento social.
También, debo narrarles, que los motivos y los fines que movían a cada segmento de la población a concurrir a observar la llegada del ferrocarril no eran los mismos, más allá, insisto, de que era un denominador común para todos el tomarlo como una diversión.
Por lo tanto, para las señoras mayores, que son un poco más proclives a los comentarios, se trataba de ir para enterarse y ver qué familias recibían visitas. Por su parte, los señores mayores iban para acompañar a sus esposas, pero más de una vez veían descender del tren a alguna novia de su juventud o a aquel amigo que tantos años hacía que había abandonado el pueblo, obviamente, una u otra situación provocaba un sentimiento de nostalgia irrefutable en ellos.
Y los jóvenes, los que no pasaban los veinte y algo de años, concurrían porque si llegaban parientes de alguna de las familias de la localidad, seguramente también lo hacía alguna bella chica que tal vez, a la vuelta de la vida y después de algún guiño del destino, podía ser la futura madre de sus hijos. Cuántas parejas se formaron ciertamente a partir del flechazo de esa primera mirada que se dio en el andén de la estación.
Pero la otra cara de la moneda, para muchos, era el tren del domingo porque se trataba de esa maldita máquina que llegaba para llevarse, y quién sabe hasta cuando, a la novia, o al novio, o a algún nieto, o en fin, a un ser querido que iba a extrañarse bastante.
Pero así como el progreso trajo innumerables factores positivos también impuso algunos que fueron lo contrario. Cada vez hubo mejores caminos y rutas, además de vehículos cada vez más sofisticados, por lo tanto, el viajar en tren pasó a ser algo demasiado lento y hasta incómodo, y como consecuencia, poco rentable para las empresas ferroviarias.
Y así llegó ese nefasto día en que pasó por la localidad el último tren de pasajeros. Un día que seguramente nuestros abuelos nunca imaginaron que llegaría; cómo podían hacerlo si el ferrocarril era todo o casi todo para muchos de ellos.
Pero llegó y cuando el último tren dejó la estación y comenzó a marcharse fue como que con él también se marchó una parte grande, importante y en cierto modo legendaria de la historia pasada del pueblo. Tal vez suene demasiado exagerado pero el último tren casi firmó la partida de defunción de este pueblo, es que luego en forma lenta pero inexorable los habitantes fueron siendo cada vez menos.
En mi caso, sólo llegué a vivir los últimos años de este medio de transporte que tan ligado está al desarrollo de innumerables pueblos del interior del país. De todos modos, me atrevo a afirmar que el tren de pasajeros le daba otra vida a mi Villa Ortiz, por eso cada vez que hago referencia al tema es imposible que no me invada la nostalgia y se me escape alguna que otra lágrima, fundamentalmente por mis padres y mis abuelos, ya que fueron ellos los que tras la partida del último tren tuvieron que aceptar con resignación que sus hijos comenzaran a marcharse en búsqueda de un futuro mejor…

The Green Man is a legendary being primarily interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of new growth that occurs every spring. The Green Man is most commonly depicted in a sculpture, or other representation of a face which is made of, or completely surrounded by, leaves.
The Green Man motif has many variations. Branches or vines may sprout from the mouth, nostrils, or other parts of the face, and these shoots may bear flowers or fruit. Found in many cultures from many ages around the world, the Green Man is often related to natural vegetation deities. Often used as decorative architectural ornaments, Green Men are frequently found in carvings on both secular and ecclesiastical buildings. "The Green Man" is also a popular name for English public houses, and various interpretations of the name appear on inn signs, which sometimes show a full figure rather than just the face.
Some speculate that the mythology of the Green Man developed independently in the traditions of separate ancient cultures and evolved into the wide variety of examples found throughout history.
Usually referred to in works on architecture as foliate heads or foliate masks, carvings of the Green Man may take many forms, naturalistic or decorative. The simplest depict a man's face peering out of dense foliage. Some may have leaves for hair, perhaps with a leafy beard. Often leaves or leafy shoots are shown growing from his open mouth and sometimes even from the nose and eyes as well. In the most abstract examples, the carving at first glance appears to be merely stylised foliage, with the facial element only becoming apparent on closer examination. The face is almost always male; green women are rare.
Lady Raglan applied the term "Green Man" to this type of architectural feature in her 1939 article "The Green Man in Church Architecture" in The Folklore Journal. It is thought that her interest stemmed from carvings at St. Jerome's Church in Llangwm, Monmouthshire.
The Green Man appears in many forms, with the three most common types categorized as:
the Foliate Head: completely covered in green leaves
the Disgorging Head: spews vegetation from its mouth
the Bloodsucker Head: sprouts vegetation from all facial orifices (e.g. tear ducts, nostrils, mouth and ears)
In his A Little Book of The Green Man, as well as his website, Mike Harding gives examples of green man figures from Lebanon and Iraq dated to the 2nd century. Similar figures exist in Borneo, Nepal, and India.
The tradition of the Green Man being carved onto Christian churches exists across Europe, including examples such as the Seven Green Men of Nicosia carved into the facade of the thirteenth century St Nicholas Church in Cyprus. Harding references a foliate head from an 8th-century Jain temple in Rajasthan.
There are Romanesque foliate heads in 11th century Templar churches in Jerusalem. Harding tentatively suggests that the symbol may have originated in Asia Minor and been brought to Europe by travelling stone carvers.
From the Renaissance onwards, elaborate variations on the Green Man theme, often with animal heads rather than human faces, appear in many media other than carvings (including manuscripts, metalwork, bookplates, and stained glass). They seem to have been used for purely decorative effect rather than reflecting any deeply held belief. A Swiss engraver, Numa Guyot, created a bookplate depicting a Green Man in exquisite detail. It was completed circa 1887.
In Britain, the image of the Green Man enjoyed a revival in the 19th century, becoming popular with architects during the Gothic revival and the Arts and Crafts era, when it appeared as a decorative motif in and on many buildings, both religious and secular. American architects took up the motif around the same time. The Green Man travelled with the Europeans as they colonized the world. Many variations can be found in Neo-gothic Victorian architecture. He was very popular amongst Australian stonemasons and can be found on many secular and sacred buildings including an example on Broadway, Sydney
Superficially the Green Man would appear to be pagan, perhaps a fertility figure or a nature spirit, similar to the woodwose (the wild man of the woods), and yet he frequently appears, carved in wood or stone in churches, chapels, abbeys and cathedrals, where examples can be found dating through to the 20th century.
Mirador Guise and Ayose, represent Ayose King of Jandía and Guise King of Maxorata.They are 4.5m tall.
Fuerteventura, known by its inhabitants as Erbania, upon the arrival of the European conquerors in 1402, led by the Normans Jean de Bethencourt and Gadifer de La Salle, was divided into two kingdoms separated by the isthmus of La Pared: Maxorata, to the north, and Jandía to the south on the peninsula of the same name.Everyone photographs them from the front with the wall of a mountain in the background, I preferred to look in the direction that the statues were looking. , Fuerteventura, Las Palmas, Canary Islands.

Inês de Castro está representada com a expressão tranquila, rodeada por anjos e coroada de rainha. A mão direita toca na ponta do colar que lhe cai do peito e a mão esquerda, enluvada, segura a outra luva. Os temas representados no túmulo são: nos frontais a infância de Cristo e a Paixão de Cristo e, nos faciais, o Calvário e o Juízo Final. Neste túmulo salienta-se um dos faciais, que representa o Juízo Final. Pensa-se que D. Pedro, com a representação desta cena dramática da religião cristã, quis mostrar a todos (inclusive a seus pais e aos assassinos) que ele e Inês tinham um lugar no Paraíso e que quem os fizera sofrer tanto podia ter a certeza que iria entrar pela bocarra de Levitão representada no canto superior direito do facial. Podemos observar também a figura de Cristo entronizado, e a Virgem e os Apóstolos que à sua direita rezam. Em baixo estão representados os mortos que se levantam das suas sepulturas para serem julgados. Os túmulos de D.Pedro e de D.Inês são de estilo gótico e feitos em calcário da região de Coimbra. A localização primitiva dos túmulos era lado a lado. No séc.XX voltaram a ser colocados frente a frente estando o túmulo de D. Inês no braço norte do transepto e o túmulo de D. Pedro I no braço sul, de tal modo a que quando ressuscitarem se levantem e vejam um ao outro.
