I chose this simple image because Water and life are represented in it. The water so precious on earth, essential to life, and this group of flamingos still called "flamboyance" The shot was taken in the Camargue (France ), lying on the ground. It is the only place in Europe where these animals breed.
They populate the marshes and ponds by feeding on small molluscs, crustaceans, insects, larvae, algae contained in the mud. A shrimp artemia salina, give them their pink color.
Due to global warming, the sea level is rising. Storms will become more numerous? The Camargue will one day be threatened?
With imagination, if pink flamingos could speak, they might seem to be saying this to us: "Let's all act together against global warming to help limit the harmful impacts on biodiversity and preserve the wonders of the Earth!"

Du fait du réchauffement climatique ,le niveau de la mer augmente ..les tempêtes vont devenir plus nombreuses ?la Camargue un jour menacée ?
Avec de l'imagination ,si les flamants roses avaient la parole ils sembleraient peut être nous dire ceci :" agissons tous ensemble contre le réchauffement climatique pour permettre de limiter les impacts néfastes sur la biodiversité et préserver les merveilles de la Terre !"

La foto representa la portada principal vista desde dentro de la ciudad palatina o La Ciudad Brillante de Medina Azahara. En sueños vi venir por ese camino idealizado las personas o personajes del segundo milenio que eran recibidos con grandes fiestas y boato por el Califa. Como la belleza es efímera solo duró este esplendor una docena de años . La envidia la arruino y ha estado olvidada. Los cordobeses queremos que la Unesco vea en estas ruinas lo que pensamos y lo que significa aunque sea por poco tiempo la ciudad mas importante del mundo.

* El Castillo de Medellín comenzó siendo un campamento romano en 74 d.C. En el siglo XIII se convirtió en una fortaleza medieval. Después de la reconquista del castillo en el año 1234 por Fernando III el Santo, perteneció a varios dueños durante el siglo XIV. El castillo lo reconstruyó el rey Enrique II, en el año 1357, si bien no alcanzó su forma definitiva hasta la segunda mitad del siglo XV. Entre los años 1475 y 1479, tomó parte a favor de Juana la Beltraneja al igual que la mayoría de la nobleza extremeña.
Se encuentra emplazado sobre una colina junto al río Guadiana. Fue declarado monumento histórico artístico y bien de interés cultural en 1931.

For me this photo is representing a lot of how I'm feeling right now. No matter if I'm reading a newspaper, watching TV ore just looking at my surroundings and the people in it. I'm feeling like that snail that is moving unstoppable to a point were it’s not going any further. I think the snail isn't aware of that, but unfortunately I am. Everyone can have its own thoughts now and I'm closing like William Shakespeare did once in Hamlet: “The rest is silence".
Dieses Bild representiert viel von dem, was gerade in mir vor sich geht, egal ob ich Zeitungsartikel lese, den Fernseher einschalte oder einfach nur mein Umfeld und die Menschen darin beobachte. Ich fühle mich wie diese Schnecke die sich unaufhaltsam auf einen Punkt zubewegt, an dem es offensichtlich nicht mehr weiter geht. Ich denke, die Schnecke ist sich dessen nicht bewusst, ich bin es mir unglücklicher Weise schon. Weitere Gedanken darf sich jeder selbst machen und ich schließe wie einst William Shakespeare in Hamlet: "Der Rest ist Schweigen".

Autel comportant un bas-relief central représentant la Cène, encadrée par quatre colonnettes. Tabernacle dont la porte centrale est en onyx. Retable composé de deux niches comportant des hauts-reliefs représentant des scènes de la vie de saint Martin (dont la Charité de saint Martin à gauche), couronnées par une arcature gothique ajourée. Aux extrémités du retable, des niches étroites à dais abritent des statues de saint Pierre et saint Paul. Au-dessus de l'exposition, au centre, une autre niche à dais surmontée d'une flèche, abrité un Christ bénissant. De part et d'autre, dans de plus petites niches, des statues d'anges. Sur l'autel, six chandeliers en bronze doré et sur le tabernacle, une croix d'autel en bronze doré.

Le Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, commandé par le maréchal de Richelieu, gouverneur de Guyenne, et édifié par l'architecte Victor Louis, a été inauguré le 7 avril 1780 avec la représentation de l'Athalie de Jean Racine.
Classé monument historique en 1899[1], réminiscence de l'Antiquité par son péristyle, l'ouvrage de 88 mètres sur 47 de style néo-classique, s'inscrit dans l'opulent urbanisme bordelais hérité du siècle des Lumières.
Il abrite une salle de spectacle d'un millier de places, exemple parfait de théâtre à l'italienne.
Après plus de deux cents ans d'usages divers ou de transformations successives de ses salles comme de son environnement, il a retrouvé, à la fois sa décoration intérieure bleue, or et marbre blanc d'origine à l'occasion de sa dernière restauration en 1991 et sa perspective de temple des muses avec l'aménagement de la place de la Comédie et du cours du Chapeau-Rouge en 2006.
Le Grand Théâtre est aujourd'hui le siège de l'Opéra national de Bordeaux qui y programme sa saison lyrique et les représentations du Ballet de l'Opéra. Il accueillait également les concerts symphoniques de l'Orchestre national Bordeaux Aquitaine avant l'ouverture de l'Auditorium de Bordeaux en 2013.

This image represents an unexpected sight. Exploring areas near Kanab, Utah, we were on our way to Old Paria, which was billed as a ghost town with a wooden structure which would make for a wonderful foreground against the striated hills behind. We read that the structure was actually built as a movie prop and was used in westerns, including The Outlaw Josey Wales. Supposedly, it was damaged and moved to higher ground nearby to protect it from floods. We found, or rather didn't find the structure, which we're pretty sure no longer exists. At least we couldn't find it, and it wasn't for lack of trying. We were rewarded, however, with this view along the way. Luckily, the area had been dusted with snow that morning, adding a delightful frosting to the hills and gullies and the remnants of the snowstorm in the sky.

It was built because of the Ibero-american Exhibition of 1929, held in Seville. Its creator was Aníbal González. He mixed a style inspired by the Renaissance with typical elements from the city: exposed brick, ceramics and wrought iron (worked by Domingo Prida). Its floor plan is semicircular. It is dominated by 2 towers, one on each side of the enclosed area, which frame the central building where the main rooms are. Between the two towers runs a network of galleries with an arcade of semicircular arches leading to exits in different parts of the square, where a fountain stands.
HMM the theme for today, 6/10, is childhood toys. this little jointed doll represents me and my quest to get some decent sleep (spring/summer cold with hacky cough). her head, much more nicely coiffed than my bedhead, is about 7/8th inch.
EN: A photo representing the summer. While witing for the train I layed down in the grass with eyes up into the endless blue of the sky and by listening to the endless twittering of the Skylark. The sun couldn't have been standing higher above the scenery than now, but train RB 5927 although looked pretty when it arrived from Poland to Tantow, the first german station stop.
DE: Ein Foto, das für mich wie kaum ein anderes den Sommer repräsentiert. Beim Warten auf den Zug konnte man im Gras liegen. Der Blick fiel in eine endlose blaue Weite. Dazu der unendliche Gesang der Feldlerche, die hoch über den Feldern stand. Ok, die Sonne hätte an diesem Sommermittag auch kaum höher stehen können, aber RB 5927 machte sich zwischen den goldenen Kornfeldern trotzdem gut, wie er sich von Polen her dem ersten deutschen Bahnhof Tantow nähert.

Theme: Treasured
I know, I know, it's not a ring or a broach or some other sentimental piece of jewellery. It's not my daughter's first pair of shoes or my son's favourite childhood cuddly toy... nope, none of those. It's a bloody camera. But it represents so much more to me personally. I love precise functional no frills engineering and this camera could be the dictionary definition for those traits. It's also representative of a personal journey I've been on over the past 18 months where I've started to collect vintage lenses and film cameras. I buy and sell other vintage cameras without too much sentiment but I won't part with this one.

Toda la parte baja del edificio es de piedra caliza blanca y la superior de ladrillo visto y piedra caliza.
En el interior una impresionante escalera, desarrollada en dos vertientes y cubierta por una cúpula decorada por Ángel Andrade y Samuel Luna. En sus galerías, como exposición permanente, destaca la obra de Andrade junto a otros pintores y escultores de la provincia.

Mouette rieuse (beaucoup plus commune). En période de reproduction, la Mouette mélanocéphale possède une tête noire, le contour de l’oeil blanc et le bec rouge. En hiver, la tête devient presque entièrement blanche si ce n’est un bandeau grisâtre en arrière de l’œil. En toute saison, le dos et le dessus des ailes sont gris clair, les rémiges, tout comme le dessous du corps, sont blanc pur.Migratrice partielle, elle hiverne essentiellement sur les côtes atlantiques et méditerranéennes.La Mouette mélanocéphale ne se reproduit en France que depuis 1965 (Camargue). Cet oiseau est en fait originaire de la Mer Noire, mais depuis les années 1940, ses populations se sont déplacées vers l’ouest de l’Europe.On observe également de la nidification sur quelques étangs. Ces îles sont généralement couvertes de plantes herbacées et sont suffisamment éloignées du bord pour éviter toute prédation terrestre.
Noter la finesse de la représentation du plumage. Le bas de l'image manque un peu de netteté du fait que la crypte est peu lumineuse et oblige à avoir une grande ouverture (f1.8) d'ou une faible profondeur de champ.

Las esculturas zoomorfas representando totos y cerdos fueron en origen una manifestación simbólica del pueblo pre-romano de los vettones, habitantes de las actuales provincias de Ávila, Salamanca, Cáceres y parte de la de Toledo al menos desde el siglo V a.c. hasta la conquista romana, hacia el 136-133 a.c.
Los Toros de Guisando no se hallaban ligados a un castro pre-romano, como en otros casos conocidos, sino a una antigua ruta de comunicación ya existente en tiempo romano. En esta época se realiza la inscripción latina del primer toro, que dice "LONGINUS PRISCO - CALAET Q PATRI F C" ("Longino se encargó de hacer (este monumento) para su padre Prisco, de los Calaéticos"). Ello indica que pudieron ser reaprovechados en el siglo I-II a partir de las tallas anteriores o incluso esculpidas expresamente para constituir un monumento romano de carácter funerario y/o conmemorativo.
La vistosidad de los toros debió hacer que en tiempo medieval fueran incorporados a la venta Juradera como algo pintoresco, formando parte de ella.
Isla representa una serie de playas que al Este muestra el pueblo y las playas de Noja, al Norte el pueblo de Arnuero, donde se ubica el Ayuntamiento y al Oeste encontramos el Cabo de Ajo. Las playas que contemplamos en la imagen pertenecen al Barrio de Quejo, hasta llegar al cabo del mismo nombre.
Todos estos espacios muestran muy bien su diferente aspecto según las horas de la marea. En este imagen nos hallamos en la bajamar, con unas arenas limpísimas y unas aguas que reflejan la montaña del fondo.
Instalaciones hoteleras como la que contemplamos en el centro de la imagen acreditan una gran presencia de turistas y visitantes de segundas residencias. Podemos asegurar que en diez años toda la hostelería de la zona ha crecido exponencialmente.

L’œuvre représente un homme en attitude frontale. Ses bras musclés évoquent sa puissance.
Ses mains sont jointes dans un geste de prière. Son bonnet à large rebord indique qu’il s’agit d’un roi. Cette statue est l’une des nombreuses représentations du souverain, Guidéa, seigneur de Lagash, ancienne cité-Etat sumérienne. Il se fait ici représenter en orant, en attitude de prière éternelle devant les dieux de Lagash. Ce portrait idéalisé donne une image de souverain pieux. Une vingtaine de ces sculptures nous sont parvenues en grande partie conservées au musée du Louvre. Si cette statue est anépigraphe (sans inscription), d’autres portent une inscription portant son nom.

La Plaza España et son pavillon, Parque Maria Luisa, Séville (Sevilla), Andalousie, Espagne.
Ce pavillon néo-Renaissance en hémicycle est décoré d'azulejos et délimité par deux tours symétriques représentant les souverains catholiques Isabelle et Ferdinand, les 4 ponts symbolisent les 4 royaumes (Navarre, León, Castille et Aragon) et les céramiques illustrent les 58 provinces espagnoles.
Le Parque Maria Luisa¸ parc public le plus célèbre de la ville, est constitué des anciens jardins du Palacio de San Talmo. Ils furent offerts à la ville en 1893 par l'infante Marie Louise Fernande de Bourbon (duchesse de Montpensier) pour faire un parc et accueillir en 1929 l'Exposition ibéro-américaine qui donna naissance à la plaza España, la place la plus majestueuse et symbolique de l’histoire d’Espagne, et la plaza América, qui participent à l'atmosphère théâtrale du parc.
L'infante d'Espagne Louise-Fernande, dit Maria Luisa, est la fille cadette du roi Ferdinand VII (1784-1833) et de sa quatrième épouse Marie-Christine de Bourbon (1806-1878), princesse des Deux-Siciles. En 1846, elle épouse Antoine d'Orléans (1824-1890), prince français et duc de Montpensier, le dernier enfant du roi des Français Louis-Philippe Ier (1773-1850) et de son épouse Marie-Amélie de Bourbon (1782-1866), princesse des Deux-Siciles.

The Corvette represents America’s first true sports car. Until the early 1960s a sports car usually meant a foreign import. Now a cult car in its own right, the Corvette was introduced in 1953 as the first serried-built production car to have a fibreglass body.
Initial sales, however, were disappointing, so much so that manufacture was almost abandoned in 1955. Subsequent redesigns and upgrading saved the marque.
This 1960 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is on display in Haynes Motor Museum.

Las Alondras y todos los representantes de su familia los alaudidos, son cada día mas escasos,
Habitantes de espacios abiertos, sufren como otras tantas especies de aves, la explotación intensiva de muchos pastizales.
Campos de cultivo de cereales de crecimiento rápido que se siegan antes de que las aves puedan haber terminado su ciclo reproductor y rociados de herbicidas y pesticidas que envenenan a sus presas, la verdad es que no lo tienen fácil para sobrevivir.
Sin embargo, bastan que en esos cultivos intensivos, se dejen pequeñas parcelas de terrenos sin sembrar, donde crezcan las mal llamadas malas hierbas y no se echen tantos pesticidas y herbicidas a los cultivos, que al final también nosotros los terminamos ingiriendo y acumulando en nuestros tejidos, para que las alondras y demás aves habitantes de estos espacios, pudiesen criar y alimentarse.
¿Estaremos dispuestos a ello?.
En algunos lugares se hace con resultados muy buenos en lo referente a los aguiluchos cenizos y pálidos,
Ojala esa sensibilidad cada vez este mas presente, pero tengo muchas dudas de ello.

This picture represents and interesting event in this chick’s life history. Up to this point, at least during the time I was lucky enough to be watching, the most Junior would do was peck at his food. He relied upon Mom to tear up the prey and feed it to him. They demonstrated a very close bond, lots of Mom preening her pride and joy and sometimes Junior preening Mom. This shot was taken close to sunset. Mom took the foot shown in her beak, a body part Junior in the past seemed to relish, and flew to a nearby branch. From there she made a call I hadn’t heard before. It was explained to me by Karen, a woman also watching, that Mom was attempting to entice Junior to make the short flight from the nest branch to where she was perched with the tasty tidbit. I hadn’t seen the chick attempt to fly but his feathers had grown in a lot and it would not have surprised me to see a short flight. Unfortunately, I can’t get back to the nest until after Junior will have fled the coup but hope he or she has a bright future and will not move too far from the neighborhood. (Bubo virginianus). (Sony a1ii, 400mm lens, f/3.2, 1/2000 second, ISO 3200).
And to represent the meaning of things, that represent the true reality, not external aspects!
Sadly not anymore for the LTB is a non-profit diy Arts, Music & Community venue - we’re a showcase for Coventry’s grassroots culture!
The premises were originally built in 1910 as prestigious showrooms for The Rover Company - and have had various uses since then. A Food Office for collecting ration stamps and council hq during wartime, then (following a major facelift in 1955) several department store occupations - then, most recently, The Litten Tree Pub.
Now under demolishment and redevelopment is planned, with the building set to be replaced as part of the City Centre South residential scheme - Coventry City Council has however granted us ‘meanwhile use’ foc, until 10/1/25.
It was a wonderful privilege for me, to go through this building, with the Coventry Photography Group and share with them their loss of this very fine community venue building, in which many of their photos were on display there and I was glad to provide some of my photos to a photographer (Bill Savage) who is writing a book and making a publication of this place; Titled: Shooting the Photographer!

Le Cisne Branco est un voilier brésilien exerçant des fonctions diplomatiques et de relations publiques. Sa mission est de représenter le pays dans les événements nautiques nationaux et internationaux. Il est également utilisé comme navire-école.
Il a été commandé par la Marine pour les célébrations du 500e anniversaire de la Découverte du Brésil et a permis de participer à la traversée commémorative de l'Atlantique avec un voilier.
Il a été construit aux Pays-Bas et a un navire jumeau, le Stad Amsterdam, naviguant sous le pavillon des Pays-Bas.

This represents the reason I return to the arboretum-places of wide open skies, so relaxing, and places dense with foliage...make a picnic under shade trees, or out where you can lean back, listening to all the bird songs, or sometimes honks that sound like a foghorn...So it isn't that clear, but I like it anyway!

This image represents one of the first photographs taken after nearly two months of not even picking up my camera. This is also my first upload here on flickr in over two months. It's been even longer since I've had the time to comment on everyone's photostreams. Now that life is settling down into a more manageable pace, I hope to begin catching up with all of you.
I titled this image Old Faithful because no matter the season, this creek always has good flow. On the day I shot this I had checked on a few other creeks and found them very dry and finally decided to go here - I knew there would be water and I knew the late afternoon light would be sweet.
