To save fingers and thumbs from being jammed, when replacing battery, hook a couple plastic zip ties to the terminals to assist lifting. Makes the job easier. Once the battery is in place simply snip off the zip ties with a pair of sidecutters.

About the State House Annex
The “new” annex to the State House was built between 1902-1906 to replace two 19th century annexes that were poorly built and inadequate in size. The Baltimore architects Baldwin & Pennington designed and supervised the construction of the new annex, which houses both the Senate and the House of Delegates.
Both chambers feature unusual black and gold marble in tribute to the colors of the Maryland flag, as well as skylights by the studio of Louis Comfort Tiffany. The doors of this annex that lead out to State Circle are actually the back doors of the State House but are now the main entrance for visitors. The doors are of cast bronze and the Maryland seal is featured in the roundels.
Another feature of the annex is the grand staircase to the second floor. On the landing is the monumental painting of Washington Resigning His Commission painted in 1859 by Edwin White.
The walls in the Annex are lined with Italian marble. The black and white alternating tile floors in the new annex were selected to match the 1881 tiles in the original portion. The fossils in the black marble date back 450 million years.

Built in 1941-1943, this Art Deco-style factory was designed by architect John Henri Deeken for the Strietmann Biscuit Company as a factory to produce baked goods. It replaced the earlier Strietmann Factory in Over-the-Rhine, which was initially built in 1899 and had been expanded multiple times, but no longer was well-suited for more modern methods of production and had limited space to expand, which became an increasing issue after Strietmann’s acquisition in 1927 by the United Biscuit Company. The building is clad in buff brick and extends 1,450 feet to the rear, with roof monitors featuring gabled roofs, clad in corrugated metal and large expanses of windows, with the sides and rear of the building featuring brick pilasters and large window bays, most infilled with brick, and a concrete base. The most architecturally significant portion of the building is the highly detailed front office wing at the building’s west end, which is clad in the same materials as the rest of the building, but features recessed brick reveals that accentuate the horizontality of the building and visually highlight the window bays on the front facade, bays flanked by pilasters with decorative aluminum spandrel panels featuring bushels of wheat between the first and second floor windows at the corners of the building, with the bay on the building’s north facade having been obscured due to a newer addition on the north side, decorative brickwork at the parapet, which is topped with a stone cap, stone caps on the pilasters, stone sills, and a taller entrance tower with a Kellogg’s sign mounted atop the roof, below which there is a low-slope roof enclosed by a parapet with a multi-tier stone cap, pilasters below the corners of the roof, an Art Deco-style minimalist clock face over the second-story windows, decorative cast aluminum screens heavily utilizing a wheat motif that looks a bit like a stylized “K” at the three narrow second-story windows, a front door flanked by two fluted curved walls clad in stone, with the aluminum double door and transom featuring more of the same cast aluminum screens as above, utilizing the same wheat motif, and a set of concrete front steps flanked by two stone bases that are presently occupied by decorative urn planters. Inside the original front entrance to the building is a very intact historic Art Deco lobby with an original chandelier, twin staircases with cast aluminum railings featuring panels with the same wheat motif as the outside, a terrazzo floor with decorative inlays, a wooden Art Deco-style cabinet, and polished marble paneling and wainscoting. The building is one of the finest examples of Art Deco in the Greater Cincinnati area, and is an excellent example of the style as applied to an industrial facility, along with Deeken’s other significant work, the former Coca-Cola Bottling Plant in Cincinnati, which is a building that is of equal design quality and significance.
The new drywall is up with outlets cut in for the accent lighting. I also patched the hole in the ceiling where they used to have one light and replaced it with four can lights.

We were lucky enough to be given a summer house meant for a skip. The roof was rotten and needed to be replaced as was some of the timber on the sides, and all the glass was broken. We wanted to create a Beach House Style Summer House giving us a place to catch the last of the evening sun.
The roof, to include a new veranda, was replaced with recycled shed material and the rotten wood cut out of the sides and replaced with reclaimed wood. The glass was replaced with a recycled greenhouse glass and then it was all given a new paint job with the paint and the 2" x 2" roof timbers and felt being the only money we had to spend on the job all coming in under £100
We felt that a deck would bring the project to life and was created using the long pallets and our new pallet dismantling tool, then sanding and treating with deck stain to give a fantastic finish.
As we had no furniture we created three new benches made from pallet crates and again sanding and painting to give a smooth finish.
Even the mirror, which was built to sell on our website was brought in and hung and looks so beautiful may well now be kept!
The next stage and finishing touch is to put a pallet floor in and of course, a wood burning stove to get rid of the offcuts!
