Sometimes I like a little kid. It doesn't take a lot to excite me and I'm so excited to have gotten these shots today. On my way home from the grocery store, I pass a pretty pond and always check it to see if there may good reflection shot. Today there was so I stopped. To my delight there were four Eastern Blue Birds playing in the drive I pulled into. Usually when I see blue birds and try to photograph them, I'm so excited I start shaking and the pics are blurry. This little fellow is wet and the water is green from surrounding evergreens. I don't know that I've ever seen them in November.

We for a little walk out near one of the local ponds and Mr. M spotted this heart shape. He felt it was the perfect photo of the day.

The last of this series of reflection shots. I think this one is the most impressionistic of the five, you can almost see the brush strokes!.
(Even at 1/200 sec I didn't stop the leaf completely...gives some idea how fast the water was flowing.)

Meeting a friend downtown for lunch so I stopped to take some reflection shots in the store windows and doors. I love doors!

This snowy egret was feeding in the shallows here and the water was still, setting me up for some decent reflection shots.
With all the big issues around the world I thought this would a great time to post a reflection shot. I know events are painful for many people already and I fear the pain will spread. It is a good time to think about our priorities and ensure we have our lives aligned with those.
This is a shot of the sky reflecting on the hood of my car.

Hope everyones week is going well
Taken at the General Foods Building in Kankakee, Illinois. Built in 1936 and closed in 1998, this eight-story building was full of unique things to see. Heavy rain from the days prior had created large pools of water that made for some killer reflection shots and the constantly changing weather added an assortment of looks that usually take days to capture.
Special thanks to ACERE who now operates the facility and is nice enough to let people like me into see this unique piece of history.
Studio 26 Reflections Submission. I've always like Jasper's mustache. And it's featured nicely in this reflection shot. He sometimes uses the closet door mirror to check on us.
A cheesy reflection shot captures a number of passengers seeking guidance on where to head next from the overhead monitors. Makes a change from everyone looking at phones.
I do love reflection shots and mannequins and adore when they come together in an unusual way inside a shot. Who could have foreseen that this seated mannequin would end up with headlights for eyes? Not me--I definitely got lucky here!
This shot that was taken a little while back on Madison Ave. at night. It's one of my least favorite places during the daytime, but one of my favorite places to visit and photograph at night.
I'm realizing that stores must have access to more than one type of mannequin. It's not a question of fashion, as one can have the featureless variety next door to the more humanoid, which we see here. No one has infinite storage space, so I imagine many of the mannequins are rented out for the duration of the window display in question. (I'd have to be there a lot more often to see what kind of mannequins each store uses to see if there are radical differences from one weekly or monthly window display to the next.)
The mannequin's headlight eyes do give her an "otherly" look. Something's not quite right... Is she looking at us or through us? She is definitely eerie-looking--uncanny, as well. Her gaze is disquieting, as if she were a character in a horror film. Her pose is odd as well, particularly her left foot--as if she were about to spring to her feet, and jump through the window...
I think it's the combination of her gaze and her pose that gives her the spooky allure.

For six word story.
The dam at the Johnsonville Mill Pond. I already posted a photo of the walkway as seen from pond level. Here is the dam and the walkway just above it. Interesting that the walkway looked white in the other shot but appears unpainted in this one.
Reflections are always on list of pictures to take and this is one example. I have so few reflection shots of the Black-bellied Whistling Duck that I keep looking for them. EXP

Using Deborah's earlier suggestion with yet another New Jersey pond reflection shot. This one has more debris in the water--looks like birds?
....you'll just have to take my word for it. Or you could take a look at it in a different position on a black background somewhere to the right of this one!!!! It is fascinating to see what different colours do to an original colour.
That's me done processing for the night once I've annotated the one on the black background.
Anyone fed up with these reflection shots yet? It may not make any difference even if you are!!! LOL
In the window of a beauty aid store, there were several mannequin heads with wigs, a kind of low-key, non-scary Halloween display, suggesting more 'refined' kinds of costumes.
Across the street, the windows of an apartment building created a network or pattern spreading across the mannequin's face and 'hair.' Between these two worlds is the tree at the left, as well as signposts along the street, etc.
I was struck by the incongruity of the combined elements, which also included street sign, a tree, street banners and store signs, among other things. It was late afternoon on an overcast day, so there was no sunlight to create extreme lighting effects: here, the light is uniformly grey--perfect for reflection shots.

The Arno river originates on Mount Falterona in the Casentino area of the Apennines, and takes initially a southward curve. The river turns to the west near Arezzo passing through Florence, Empoli and Pisa, flowing into the Tyrrhenian Sea at Marina di Pisa. (wikipedia)
I caught this sunset reflection shot on the Arno River in Florence during our trip to Italy last fall. It is a very peaceful river at sunset.

This was the tail end of a metro on the left side. I have another shot that shows a full metro, but that seemed too busy. I will put it up if anybody's interested.

CP 9830 and CSX 3374 accelerate through Plymouth with plenty of clear track after sitting at Humbolt for 20 minutes for an eastbound to get out of the way. Also notice the reflection off the swamp, with not much wind and hardly any clouds the reflection was perfect. Shoutout to the engineer for giving a few blasts of the P3 air horn!

It's been a long time since I spent any quality time here at the place which gave birth to my bird passion. I drove by several times during the summer, but only saw the swans. Yesterday I saw this gray heron so I parked and came back.
It was in the upper 90s and humid. Thankfully little wind. I like reflection shots, so I don't like wind. There was blue sky with a lot of puffy white clouds. A great day! A great egret flew in as well. No sign of my little egret friend, hope he's well. I had to leave just after noon to teach a class an hour drive away in traffic. Afterwards I returned here. But, on the way I got stopped at a train crossing, looked out to my right and saw some cattle egrets on my right. I grabbed my camera and got off a few shots and then pulled into a Brazillian supermarket parking area on my left and took some more shots. A great day. Looks like the same kind of weather today so it's time to get going. A bit of a late start for me.
Too much wind today for a reflection shot, but I keep trying. Still, a nice Fall day and it's fun to veer from the formula. (I still owe the owner the fall shot in the same format as the other seasons, but this one is proving difficult. Too much wind and by the time the colors really change, the leaves will all be down.). Summer shot is shown below.
That day we decided to head out and check the ArtScience Museum for the "Planet or Plastics?" exhibit, despite the gloomy weather. Definitely worth the trip and we were able to snap this shot right after the visit.
Definitely one of my favourite spots here in the Lion city, with all those dramatic clouds and mirroring reflections!

This single feather was too large for a reflection shot, but I really wanted to see how this black feather on a black background would look. This eighteen shot stack focus image was processed using Nik Silver Efex.
Just about squeezed this in. A 3-car class 172 DMU crosses the Worcester Railway Bridge with the 06.59 Birmingham New Street - Hereford. A slight breeze meant the ripples on the River Severn wouldn't provide the perfect reflection shot.

Not many people were out due to the rain. So it was nice to see a few lone cyclists around which led to this partial reflection shot with the cityscape behind.
This was shot during a rainy period (early January) in Singapore.
This is one great spot to get some crazy reflection shots during Illuminations if the weather is cooperative. Thankfully, we had a great New Year's Eve and with no wind, it was almost perfectly still water.
