sun + snow = puddle + reflections + bokeh

i first saw similar things on blueteeth's stream, who's much much better at these (but has no snow to work with) so if you like to see more and better ones, go check out his stream, there was a whole series of amazing reflection shots!

Well this was a difficult challenge - or at least I made it difficult for myself with the subject I chose! I do not recommend trying to take a macro reflection shot of a 9mm Swarovski crystal star! This is the best shot out of the many I attempted! Happy macro Monday everyone!

Liverpool Docklands provide some great reflection shots and they are different each time. The stiller the better really

this bridge shot was taken in march when it was still raining quite a bit in san francisco.. this image is one of my early visions of a reflection shot here.. enjoy!

This is the classic reflection shot of Sedona's Cathedral Rock from back in time when it wasn't overgrown with foliage and overrun with people!

processed this reflection shot of Chicago's skyline as a single file pseudo HDR and did a little bit of perspective correction and came out with this final image...you'll notice that there is a guy in the frame comping a reflection shot of the city as well...that's my buddy Andy (j@celicious) who is also a flickrholic like me...hope everyone had a great weekend...pls. Wednesday was very cloudy and I decided to go to Venice Beach since it had the quickest drive at that time of day. Finally had a chance during an interesting sky and low tide to take reflection shots. Probably the best sunset I've ever seen as it changed constantly until the last bit of light faded away. I mixed in long and short exposures and fortunately was able to get the settings right and the woman in focus before she moved and the moment was gone.

I got to the middle lake and was hoping for calm weather for some reflection shots but sadly not, but it is such a nice place to be, this was the beginning of my day i then decided to climb wind ridge on what can only be described as a very windy day.

Figured I would try the reflection shot at CP Pitt again, this time with Amtrak 42, the eastbound Pennsylvanian. Thankfully the driver of the pickup truck noticed what I was doing before splashing through the puddle!

A puddle resting amongst mossy rocks helped create a reflection shot of the treeline.

I had a nice reflection shot I was going to use for this week but then I got this fun catch of Minty and her buddy Leo at the beach. Minty is an active girl and I want her album to reflect that.

We will try for a reflection shot for next week. Leo's mom is going to Poland to see her mom and we probably won't see her buddy for a few weeks. I gotta get the action shots while I can. Leo is usually first to the ball when we throw it out in the water but Minty loves to steal it from him as the both swim to the shoreline.

As you can see, Minty enjoys being the one being chased and Leo is always happy to be the chaser. I would rather they play that game at the beach as I am always afraid Minty will run into a tree when they play in the woods! She is always turning around to watch Leo chase her.

Double Reflections !! Shot in a Storedisplay Rue Legendre - Paris 75017 -

This is the wide angle version of a shot I posted a few weeks back called "muted reflections".. Forgot I had this one and thought it was worth posting.

Shot during a holiday to the Cotes D'Azur in France in April 2024.

66126 can be seen at the first clay of the day down to Fowey Docks crossing the Rover Fowey at Lostwithiel. I'd messed up the reflection shot here they day before and decided to return on this morning as it was nice and still. Several minutes before the train arrived a couple of Mallards appeared and started circling around. Luckily my excellent impression of a duck seemed to grab Daffy's attention and dragged him away from the reflection of the bridge just in time. I'd smiled to myself thinking a job well done but upon looking up there was a chap eyeing me with suspicion from the opposite bank. A nod of the head and a cheery 'Good Morning' and I beat a hasty retreat before he called in the men in white coats.

Simple reflection shot, I really like the light in this image

Mt Shuksan is one of the most photographed and iconic peaks in Washington's North Cascade Range. Its rugged, glaciated peak rises abruptly above its surroundings making for an awe-inspiring view. The classic photograph of it is from Picture Lake near the end of the Mt. Baker Scenic Byway. Unfortunately, the breeze just wouldn't relent during my time there so I didn't get the opportunity for a reflection shot in the lake. So instead, I opted to use some of the wildflowers in bloom as my foreground interest for the shot. Luckily, an approaching storm was throwing clouds into the area, which made for a beautiful sunrise.

This is a reflection shot in the Pass of Brander where Loch Awe flows into the River Awe, this is the river. The shot was supposed to be an abstract image.

As part of Reflect London they've covered large parts of Covent Garden in mirrors which makes for some interesting reflection shots, if you like that kind of thing!

The hairy legs in the center of the shot belong to yours truly!

This is my newest picture for the 365 project and the new theme "Reflections".

Just a quick window reflection shot, day 312 done and dusted.

Happy weekend for everybody.

Shot with my X100's, processed in Aperture using VSCO Film Pack 02.

Another morning reflection shot from a couple of weeks ago. At times the reflection was just perfect. As I waited for first light I spent my time worrying that each gust of wind would be the end of that perfect mirror. This little section was separated from the lake so it was quick to recover from wind.

I shot this at Boony Doon Beach Davenport. A group of shutterbugs got together the pan was to do a sunset and some night photography. I saw some water and thought I could use it to get some reflection shots, I borrowed a lady that was with one of the photographers and asked her to help with the shot. She agreed and this is what I captured.

I went to Bilbao last week for a significant Birthday treat, as I'd always wanted to see the famous Guggenheim museum. I was lucky enough to stay in a hotel directly opposite it and to to see it every morning from the 7th floor terrace whilst having the hotel breakfast!

This reflections shot was taken from the outside of the building, a mixture of lines, angles, glass and metal.

Peter was aboard his Class 116 at Birmingham Moor Street but could not resist the reflection shot!

The picture shows the large running in board as well as the signals and a platform mounted water crane, clearly disused. The goods yard is still in use and a pair of British Railways trailers are visible. The guard is climbing into the brake section, the signal is off and it is time to go.

I cannot straighten this any more without loosing the reflected Running in board.

Along with the stunning winter looks, Rain and I took a few moments to grab a warm beverage at a local coffee shop and made use of the lovely atmosphere and light from the big windows looking out onto the street. I especially love the reflection shots - hard to get focus and balance the subject and reflection but we got a couple shots that turned out amazing. All shot with natural/ambient light. More to come

I was just playing around with reflection shots again... I took some more with the apple and straw with Reece that I love, I will post them later, so cute! I got this summer dress over the weekend, I can't believe all the summer clothes are out already, we are still knee deep in SNOW! but I couldn't resist..:)

Weathered Reflections steady rain on this old weathered wood piece creates interesting reflections, shot in North Carolina.

My passion. Our passions come easy to us however others like my landscapes, reflection shots etc so much better than my passion shots. These guys. Never have I put more work into a growing series than these and have my work less liked than with these. But continue, I will, with wherever my passion brings me. There is nothing like a labor of love. And although I do love to share my passion, it is not important to me if it is not the passion of others or if others like my other work netter. Of course I can still.do it, however the passion is no longer there ... Blessings 🙏

Back in October it was announced that the City Centre Motel on Main Street had finally been sold. The new owners didn't waste any time and the place closed back around Remembrance Day on November 11th. Luckily the outdoor lights are still on so I was able to wander around in the parking lot and get some shots I'd been meaning to take. This reflection shot is a bit of a happy accident as I never really poked around the place when the motel was actually open!

The galactic centre of the Milky Way is still visible at this time of year and the goal was to get a reflection shot of it. It didn't work out as well as hoped for this time but I will keep trying!

Another reflection shot of a skyscraper in downtown Boston off the water in Boston Harbor. You can see the grain problems pretty clearly in this one, but I like the geometry enough to post it anyhow.

Severe thunderstorms pounded southern Minnesota on the evening of July 11th resulting in several severe thunderstorm warnings and a few tornado warnings to go with them. One such tornado warning popped up over Mankato as John Fladung and I were in town waiting on the RCP&E to depart west.

We chose to seek shelter in the lower level of a parking ramp in the downtown area to allow the storm to blow through. Minutes prior to the arrival of the storm's leading edge the three time a week local headed west towards the UP/CP junction on the west side of town. After the torrential rain and winds let up we took off west in search of the train. It didn't take long to catch up as they were slowed at Judson for a three-way meet with 470 and the New Ulm local job. Unfortunately, traffic was light on this day resulting in a measly 11 car train.

We were greeted with a short break in the clouds before a weaker second round of storms moved in from the northwest. The break

resulted in just enough time for this reflection shot from a water logged ditch as the train approached Sleepy Eye, MN from the east.

This rainy reflection shot was taken during the tube strike.

A quiet evening at Mount Vestrahorn in Iceland. The tide was on its way out but I managed to capture the only reflection shot I could. The clouds were interesting in that they diffused the light and allowed for some nice color range from left to right. I darkened the edges of the frame which forces the eye more into the scene. I know it's not the best composition but like how the two sides and spectrum of color draw the eye back and forth.

It's been raining quite a bit in London recently, so I attempted to turn this negative into a positive. Rain can have a dramatic effect on a scene. This is a rainy reflection shot of City Hall and Tower bridge with it's Olympic Rings!

just a reflection shot of the view from one of the hotel rooms in the Aqua Building from the balcony...captured this during the Open House Chicago tours and it was a lot of fun...

This photograph is a zoom in into one of the "harbors" of Diablo Lake just to the right of my "Broken Tree" photograph. The partly cloudy sky and the still wind created a perfect setting for a reflection shot of the conifer forest and clouds with blue sky upon the turquoise water.

Late evening reflection shot. The harsh sun light had gone just the right condition for the photo.

Thank you for viewing.

The rapids were pretty dry so i focused on a reflection shot.

I shot this as the morning light came up from the east. There was a fresh rain in the early morning and I had been planning reflection shots of the Lincoln for some time now.

Some amazing morning light in the district if you can plan and wait for it.

I love to photograph loons. They are fantastically beautiful birds. Early morning reflection shot.

Macro Monday has done it again! It inspired a friend (seen in the over processed cup of coffee) and I to roam around looking for good reflection shots. It made for a very fun morning.
