They replaced a tradition style fountain a few years ago with one of those water features with the jets of water that people like to run though! It was tempting during the hot hours, but I'm far too sensible!! At this moment the jets weren't going and it occurred to me I might be able to get a good reflection shot!
Another reflection shot this week, in response to the word 'Borders' given to me by Southampton uni.
I would like to thank everyone for their positive comments to my reflection/borders work, its nice to see that people like your work.
This shot is of a glass table that was wet from the rain, the reflection of the tree really stood out to me, I wanted those out of focus parts to add depth and the feel that you was bordering on into a different world.
Fountains Abbey, N Yorkshire.
It was too windy on this the first evening to get any reflection shots in the river, so I concentrated on catching the lighting from here, with the bonus that it was clear and starry! What you don't get to experience with a photograph, is the wonderful sound of Gregorian Chant that is played in the ruins.

Mary’s Peak is just west of Corvallis and is the highest peak in the Oregon coast range. All the recent rains caused the flooding that made this reflection shot possible. Nice evening out there, including circling hawks and one of the biggest damn snakes I’ve ever almost stepped on!
There's plenty more scope for interesting reflection shots in the reflective exterior of Grand Central so I hope to return at some point later this year to take some more.
Hopefully their attitude towards people taking photos inside will be more enlightened by then.......

Yes, a stretch for the topic. But what else is a palindrome if not a reflection?
Shot with Rolleiflex 3.5T medium format TLR on Ilford Delta 400 film . Developed in Sprint chemistry, pushed +2 stops. Negative scanned on Epson V600 scanner. Post-processing in Photoshop.
Saw this huge Xmas tree at the local mall earlier in the week and thought it might be good for a reflection shot. Seasonal too. It is Spring going on Summer here hence the short sleeves and the very bright sunshine.
Decided to beat the heat and head up to the Uinta Mountains east of Salt Lake City, thankfully the clouds cleared out so I could get some shots of the Milky Way. This is Moosehorn Lake, first time I've shot at this lake, it was nice and quiet since the campground there was closed for some reason.
This is a panorama of 21 images, 3 rows of 7, one for the sky, one for the land, and one for the reflections. All shots taken with my NIkon D600 and Rokinon 24mm f1.4 lens on an iOptron Skytracker mount (turned on for the sky and reflection shots). The sky shots are 2.5 minute exposures at ISO 400 and f2, the land shots are 2.5 minute exposures at ISO 800 and f1.8, the reflection shots are 1 minute exposures at ISO 1600 and f1.8.
The rows were stitched individually and then each row merged in Photoshop.
Unfortunately it took so long to take all the pictures the clouds had shifted from the left/low horizon for the sky shots into the middle of the lake for the reflection shots. All well, can't control nature.
A bit of an oddity, but one of a series of reflection shots over on today's blog post: bit.ly/H2Hhxu Happy weekend everybody!
While waiting for the Turn to finish picking up a unit on the south end of town, the sun popped out for a few minutes allowing this reflection shot of the remote C430 used to switch the sand unloading facility. The rains earlier were good for something--creating a nice reflection pond.
A square format crop from my previous upload of reflections in a Bangkok skyscraper.
Since my first visit to Thailand back in 2002 it was very noticeable how many new skyscrapers there were in Bangkok. Whereas before a few stood out now the skyline is full of highrise buildings. Consequently there were plenty of reflection shots like this to be taken.

From Wikipedia : "While most of Bangkok's streets are fronted by vernacular shophouses, the largely unrestricted building frenzy of the 1980s has transformed the city into an urban jungle of skyscrapers and high rises exhibiting contrasting and clashing styles. There are 581 skyscrapers over 90 metres (300 feet) tall in the city. Bangkok was ranked as the world's 8th tallest city in 2016."

Today's Union Pacific MIR job is hustling across the Mississippi River with a short train in tow. They're using somewhat unusual power today with a snoot nose SD40N instead of a much more typical GP unit.
The river was great this morning for a reflection shot.
8 Tallet by night. This residential and commercial building is located in southern Copenhagen. The shape is in the form of a loop/figure of 8. By night there are super opportunities for reflection shots. Getting here is easy. Take the Metro M1 to Vestamager, and then it’s a 5min walk.

Another reflection shot from Dana Meadows in Yosemite NP, CA. I almost missed this cloud while shooting in the opposite direction toward Mammoth Peak.

Got out for a walk at lunchtime last week to try and get some reflections shots, here is one of them
Thanks everyone for the suportive comments, they are appreciated, and I am back clicking and enjoying flickr and my friends on here :)
Montrose Harbor had some rain puddles this particular night which I used to my advantage in getting this nice reflection shot of the city's skyline...the glow of the city reflected onto the clouds just added some cool drama to this image I think...to get this shot, I simply set my camera to expose for 10 seconds on time delay to give me time to press the shutter and set the camera on the ground and avoid any camera shakes and hope to get a nice result...with some luck, this was my first try and liked how this came out....pls.View On Black

In the early morning hours of June 3rd, 2020, Norfolk Southern train 310 (Elkhart, IN - Binghamton, NY) derailed in the town of Hunt, NY, just east of Letchworth State Park. Approximately 12 cars from the middle of the train, mostly autoracks, came off the tracks. In the early afternoon, a powerset of NS 4277 (GE AC44C6M) and NS 9401 (GE C44-9W) were dispatched from Buffalo to pick up the west half of 310's train. After coupling to the cut of cars in Hunt, the crew carefully inspected the train before they proceeded west to Buffalo. The train is seen here utilizing the passing siding in Rock Glen to rearrange some of the freight cars on the head end. A heavy rainstorm had just made its way through this area, providing for a nice reflection shot in a lineside puddle.

This was composed to demonstrate four different ways of taking a shot, but turned out to also be a good reflection shot of Jim!

It's a bit darker than I wanted on the conversion, but I just love this reflection shot from my engagement shoot on Saturday evening. It was the first time I'd picked up a camera since I started feeling seasick - looking through the viewfinder has been making me feel claustrophobic - I think it was worth it. I'm hoping to get through a lot of processing this week that has been waiting for me to feel better; we'll see, I guess!
Thanks for the continued visits and comments! I know I'm quite delinquent here!

Participated in a short photowalk at the old Jaffa Port, part of that was a visit to the ship repair yard, lucky for us it was after lots of rain so we had some great reflection shots.
I adopted the HDR for this one.
3 exposures, tonemapped in Photomatix and processed in Photoshop.
Hope you like it.

The original plan was to take a shot from the east bluff, but that would entail four trips to the car to carry ~150 pounds of camera gear out, and then back in the dark. While thinking it over, the wind died and the water on the Sheyenne Rver became as smooth as a woman's behind. That's pretty unusual in the Dakotas! So, I went for the reflection shot. The trestle is 150 ft. high and ~225 yards away so there were some challenges to overcome. And about 10,000 mosquitoes! Flash: x3 White Lightning X3200 with long throw reflectors. I believe this is the first time this big trestle has been flash photo'd at night, at least about 500 feet of it. F. J. Haynes would have loved this!
Return to Pemaquid - Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, Bristol, Maine
Back from Jeff Clow's Maine Lighthouse and Coast Tour and I have started to look at the photos that I was able to shoot. Other than some stormy weather on the first afternoon, we were blessed with nice weather, although it was a bit cold and windy. Over the next week or two, I will be posting from the trip.
To the surprise of anyone who has been with me in Maine, my first photo is of my favorite lighthouse, Pemaquid Point Light and its famous puddle reflection. Many people have asked if that puddle is real and did I Photoshop a reflection in it. I can state unequivocally that the puddle is there year round (or at least over the course of my 15+ visits). The puddle may be bigger or smaller on each visit depending on the weather. The better question to ask is "Was the wind blowing?" That question is easily answered in that, if there is any decent wind, there will be no reflection. Our group visited the puddle in the late afternoon and the wind was pretty steady. While we got some reflections, the ripples made it barely recognizable. Fortunately, we visited Pemaquid on our last day at sunrise. After shooting from the front and the other side, some of us revisited the puddle, even though the wind was blowing. With a little patience, the wind died off periodically in order to get some still reflection shots.
Double Trouble
An afternoon storm created some great puddles for some reflection shots of these F-5Ns
After we were finished with chasing the Gas local to Thompson falls we got info that two eastbounds would be running during sunset from Sandpoint. Samuel wanting to shoot the reflection shot in Trout Creek the entire week took over the wheel and thwarted us west in the hope of beating the trains and finding the location in the small amount of daylight we had. When we pulled up to the small road down to the lakeside the scene could not have been more spectacular. They weren't the last shots of the trip but proved to be the climax to a trip that had many challenging ups and downs. This area of the MRL is high on my list to rediscover on future trips.

Some heavy rain in London yesterday afternoon, which resulted in some large puddles such as this one in Copperfield Street, Southwark. This encouraged me to crouch down low, or as low as I can get, to get this reflection shot. I like the way the yellow and red doors provide a highlight to the scene.
With my favourite puddle on platform 4 having been replenished by the recent rain, it was time to have another go at the 'reflection shot' this evening at Cardiff Central. A GWR IET unit - which has just arrived from London Paddington is seen waiting to depart to nearby Brickyard sidings.
Another reflection shot from the Leslie Spit Marina. I've said it before and I'll say it again...the colour out there, at dusk, was deelish.
Well I was trying to get back in the hang of street photography. It was close but not perfect, I had always wanted to catch a reflection shot maybe next time it will ALL come together!
The wind died down and the ducks held still long enough for me to get a fairly decent reflection shot. What a good looking couple.

When I first started traveling for photography, my fear of missing out strongly influenced my decisions. I often pushed myself to capture images I had envisioned, even when the conditions weren't right for the style of photography I wanted to pursue.
On our first day in Anchorage, we decided to explore Turnagain Arm and drove along the coast road, hoping for some sunset magic. Although the scenery was stunning, the ideal light I had anticipated did not materialize. It was low tide, and barely any water in the inlet prevented me from capturing the reflection shot I had envisioned since we began our drive.
Eventually, we turned back and headed home, but as we pulled into a parking lot, I got lucky. The parking lot jutted into the inlet and contained a small amount of water, creating perfect, mirror-like reflections of the massive mountains across the inlet. I had originally planned to return for sunrise the next day, but after seeing the weather report predicting gale-force winds and a sharp drop in temperature, I hesitated. Nonetheless, I decided to go for the sunrise anyway, and the wind was incredibly fierce. This experience introduced me to the unpredictable weather we would face in the coming days.
Next in line for the application of fleet livery at White Bus was 73 YX70OHU, one of six newly-delivered ADL Enviro200 MMC buses.
Credit goes to Lewis Nagle for spotting the reflection shots - thanks Lewis!!
I was creeping up nice and slow when a black labrador charged up from behind me and ruined my shot! This is my result. I was lookng to get some reflection shots of about 30-40 of these guys on the waters edge. Instead some gulls in flight, which has turned out alright considering the rushed effort!

I got a chance to play with the new Z5ii today and got this fun reflection shot.. Neat camera delivering impressive files, but ergonomically not for me.
Thank you, Nikon & Foto Koch for the opportunity!
