Gurudongmar Lake one of the highest lakes in the world situated at 17100 feet above sea level in Sikkim, India in the north eastern part of India. This was shot during my 2009 trip to the lake. It was an out of the world experience to travel to this part of the world where there is no vegetation, air thinner than one can breathe in, snow, and inhospitable terrain with unpredictable weather as common in all high altitude places, but irrespective of all the hazards the view was breathtaking. The blueness is natural and preserved to give the original feel to the picture.
Another weekend, another trip to the Uinta mountains to escape the heat. This time we went to Christmas Meadows, a place that has become extremely popular in recent years with campers and hikers. Also popular this year, the swarms of mosquitos out to get our blood! We had one clearish night with calm water along the river bends, we setup and got some good reflection shots before more thing clouds moved in and made the sky a bit too hazy to shoot. Lots of cabins and campfires along the river, provided some interesting lights long the hillside. All in all another fun trip!
8 exposures went into this image, all shot with a Nikon Z7 and Sigma Art 40mm on a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer mini tracking mount. Sky exposures are 1.5 minutes at ISO 800 and f1.8, foreground exposures are 1.5 minutes at ISO 800 and f1.4, water exposures are 45 seconds at ISO 3200 and f1.4.
It was such a sunny day that I got carried away with reflection shots in the wet sand. Late in the afternoon the cliffs took on a beautiful golden colour, and every patch of water seemed on fire.

Here is another oldie scanned from a slide. This is just outside of Cantwell, Alaska. I was on my way to the park and stopped for a few quick scenic shots. As it turned out they were the best pictures of that trip. I have been kicking myself ever since for not staying and spending more time working the scene.
The fall color peaks and only lasts for about a week in early September.

CM: The aim of this image was to create an abstract reflection shot that was abstract enough without being too obscure. The reason I like abstracts, is that they tend to hold my interest longer as I explore the detail and sometimes try to work out what it is (although that's not always important if there's beautiful patterns/texture)
The Arch of the Milky extends high into the night sky above what appears to be a nuclear bomb going off in the distance. Actually that's just the light pollution dome of Salt Lake City, roughly 100 miles away. We were hoping to get some nice reflection shots off the flooded salt flats west of the city, but a near constant breeze prevented any smooth water from forming. Instead we were treated to incredible airglow and what turned out to by some very faint aurora showing up in the north sky. If you look above the horizon on the left in this image you can see some of the pinks and oranges from that Aurora, as well as Andromeda rising above the horizon. All in all a gorgeous night from a picturesque place.

In Carlisle Eddie Holden constantly tormented me, and others, about getting the ultimate cheesy reflection shot. Unfortunately, this was the best I could manage.
As I set up for a calm lake surface reflection shot, the breeze came up and gave me this chaos of rippling refraction patterns instead.
RAW file edited in View NX2, JPEG additional edits to sharpness, vibrancy, clarity and tone mapping in Corel Paintshop Pro X7.
Wanted to post more shots of the female Phalarope from my prior trip before I get to more files from my recent trip. WE had soft light that morning as two females flew into the partially flooded road. The light came out, but so did some crazy drivers that flushed them before we could get that killer morning light water reflection shot. These came very close to us as we laid in one spot. Next year I'll be targeting them again. :)

Here is another sunset shot, this time from the beautiful Trillium Lake in Oregon with a great reflection of the mighty Mt Hood. For some reason I forgot to process this earlier, so I wanted to post before it fell off my radar again.
This shot was taken on a July morning so days were hot but there was still some fog up in the mountains before sunrise. There were a bunch of ducks nearby, playing along the shoreline and thus removing any hope of me having any chance of the perfect reflection shot.
It is an awesome experience to spend an early morning here watching the reflection of the sunning mountain the way morning light reflects off snow and granite. Thanks for visiting have a nice weekend..
I had been planning on shooting here all year, wanted to go up and get some shots of the Milky Way over wildflowers, but I was too busy earlier in the year and most of the wildflowers were gone. The Bear River really calms down at night which makes reflections perfect...except for when the beavers get tired of you and start slapping their tails in the water. Really dark skies here, on my way up a large wildfire had erupted about 40 miles to the west of here and I had to drive through the intense smoke. Wasn't sure the skies would clear up, thankfully the winds out of the north pushed most of the smoke straight south.
10 shots for this one, 4 for the sky, 4 for the foreground, and 2 for the reflections. Sky shots were 3 minutes, ISO 800, and f2.5. Foreground shots were 3 minutes, ISO 800, f1.4. Reflection shots were 45 seconds, ISO 1600, f1.4. All were taken with my Nikon D600 and Rokinon 24mm f1.4 lens on a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer tracking mount.

As I'm travelling to Sussex today, I thought I'd put a couple of shots of a recent night down the coast! This was a high tide reflection shot, of the salt marsh area where the river Ogmore reaches the sea. It always fills with water on a spring tide. I love reflections! Roll river roll , is a beautiful song by Ricard Hawley, and is perfect!
Had a walk out to the beach @ Titchwell just over an hour after high tide. Beach was still wet & this Sanderling came exploring away from the tide line, enabling some reflection shots. He looked at everything but I liked him investigating the Mussel shell. Winter visitors to our shores as they breed in high Arctic area
This reflection shot highlights the lovely arches you can see from the district and circle line platforms. This is the second version of this shot, the first had a moving train so hid the wonderful arch reflections

Heavy fog and early morning light along the Hudson River, near the Saratoga Battlefields, Saratoga, NY. Twenty minutes before the tree reflection shots...a completely different scene. The fog grew so heavy at one point I couldn't even take a picture as there was not enough to focus on.

I never did the reflection shot during the challenge because we were away and so busy at that time. I finally did one yesterday and with a little help from Deep Dream Generator I kind of like it. I put the a mirror on the floor and just waited for Minty to explore. She didn't disappoint me.

Sumpter Valley Railroad's 1920-vintage ALCO Mikado #19 charges south on the main line, headed for the yards at McEwen, OR, passing one of the many dredge pools along the present-day line between Sumpter and McEwen. This particular location, near the Hawley Spur Switch, about 1.5 miles west of McEwen, is famous for its fall reflection shots and is a regular stop on the line's "Fall Photo Trains." With the temperature hovering around 20F in this frame however, the pool is ice and snow-covered this day, but the dramatic, steamy plume from the locomotive and the snow-cap on the Elkhorn Mountains in the background still make this one of the best photo spots on the railroad, regardless of season.
More cliche'd reflection shots - such beautiful reflections and colours in still waters - a photo freak like myself just couldn't help it..puddles in london are never this big..or colourful.
Traveled to a darker part of Essex to do some night photography. Didn't go quite to plan. Part I wanted to go for reflection shots shut at dusk, the weather said clear..... Took 3 hours of waiting until the clouds dispersed. When they did, I changed my plan and shot this. Was worth the trip for me in the end.
This Semi was foraging all alone on the flats when I took this reflection shot. The light was a little strong late in the morning but I like the comp on this one.

Last night was one of those "huge risk huge reward" trips. I had been planning on going up to Smith and Morehouse Reservoir to do some Milky Way shooting, but the long winter and crap weather timed with the snow level hadn't made it possible until this weekend. Of course we had a nasty storm come through Utah this week and yesterday it was supposed to clear out, but the cloud cover over the Uintas was still very heavy. In fact when I got up to Smith and Morehouse it was snowing! So I scouted the shots I wanted to take and then went to sleep under thick clouds. Woke up 3 hours later around midnight to perfectly clear skies and got to work....
This is my first shot with the Sigma Art 50mm lens, all I can say is DDAAYYAAMMMNN. This lens is incredible, I'm going to love shooting with it. Altogether 12 exposures went into this shot, all taken back to back with my Nikon D800E and Sigma Art 50mm on a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer tracking mount. Sky shots are 2.5 minute exposures at f2.8 and ISO 800, foreground shots are 2.5 minute exposures at f1.4 and ISO 1600, reflection shots 30 second exposures at ISO 3200 and f1.4.
This is from yesterdays snow shoot~I drive by this beauty often and have always thought about snapping a photo. It was especially pretty with the snow dollops adorning my favorite part of the car. Only 200 days to go, almost half way, it's a long, long haul, so a reflection shot here and there is a relief!!
When I was in London last September I realised there is now a path along the Thames on the opposite side from the Shard. Previously I think I'm right in saying there were only small isolated bits but now it's been joined up and opened to the public. Consequently there were lots of new opportunities to get reflections shots such as this one.

9/6/2021 - A Quartet of GECX Dash 8's sit on the NS/GE Interchange awaiting pickup. They were originally going to the Buffalo & Pittsburgh Railroad, but now I believe they are going somewhere else now. The last one or the 4 was the C&O Sticker for CSX. Managed to get somewhat of a decent reflection shot. Wish the puddle was bigger lol
Today the archives take me back to last summer to a beautiful blue bird day up at mount Rainier. I had the pleasure of taking Tosin AKA TIA International Photography up to the park for his first visit. We kinda got skunked on the atmospherics, but it was a beautiful day to be out in nature for a hike. We saw a couple bears up on the high ridges and lots of great scenery. This is a view of Rainier from the spray park area, full of flowers and tiny little pools that make for beautiful reflection shots, here is one

Apologies for another Reflection shot. But not much happening on the Wildlife front and so little wind nothing else to photograph
This image is another shot from the Lot Valley in central France. The Hamlet of Larganol is out the edge of the River Lot I often had to drive past it on the way to the shops at Cajarc. I noticed on this particular morning the conditions were just right for a reflection shot. For once I can say I am pretty satisfied with how this photograph worked out.
Last post from me for a few days, we are making a short visit to Cambridge next week. Mary’s cousin is doing her degree at the University there and we thought she deserved taking out to dinner. I have not been to Cambridge for twenty years so it will be good to see the town again. Catch up with you all later in the week.
