I had no idea what a Hurdy-Gurdy looked like until seeing this one.

While on Goat Island, which is part of Niagara Falls State Park, I decided to stop along the upper rapids that go to the American side of the falls.

Details: Nikon D40, 18-55mm Nikkor kit lens, Hoya R72 infrared filter, 4 second exposure at f/10. Post processing involved channel swapping and a laundry list of other stuff, in Photoshop.

Grabbed my tripod and walked around Grand Rapids to test out Nik Software's new HDR Efex Pro. I love it.

Explored 10/10/10!

Kodak Compur-Rapids.

It had a fixed focal length and fully manual. You hadto estimate the subject distance as the viewfinder only aided with framing the subject. Exposure settings required applying the sunny 16 guide, or using an external light meter.

Thanks to Charlie Harag.

This Sound of Lights competition is a magnet for my camera. As I was returning home after a rainy evening on a tennis court, I made a detour to Remic Rapids just to catch the end of Switzerland`s fireworks and got a few quick shots.

My favorite shooting place is back again on flickr. The waterfalls at the old mill in Kvarnbo. This time in black and white and focus on the water and a branch with ice on.

This is the place near #Begadewadi, Pune in the rocky bed of Indrayani river where nature shows its artistic by #carving the #posture of a bull with rapidly #flowing water. One can find many such postures in the #rock there. Just take your creative mind and eye with you !

Blakeney Rapids Day 2

Sunday morning at Kapeenkoski Rapids, Laukaa - Aanekoski, Finland.

Air temperature -20*C, water temperature "ice cold".

This was a great part of our trip to Jamaica as we spent 2 1/2 hours on this bamboo raft floating down the Rio Grande towards the Caribbean sea and St Margarets Bay. There were many deep and very peaceful parts of the river as well as various rapids like these. It is quite amazing that these rafts can negotiate the shallowest of rapids yet be very stable in deep water too. View LARGE to see the rafts in front of us and how shallow the river was at this point.
