Taken in 2003 at the 50th anniversary ball weekend for Welbeck College.
The rails stretched from the kitchens to the dining room when the house was in full formal use and were for moving food quickly. Or so we were told when we were students there.
Rails, like solicitors, seems to be unpopular here. Rubyists: if you listen to what Hyde Pier says you will keep off Rails.

Macro rails are good for precise movement of camera and for focusing with macro lenses, with shallow DOF. Excellent for MP-E
The rails I ride to work every day.
The logs are put there when trucks have to drive over them for construction. There has been a lot of construction on these rails in the past few years.
THE way to get downtown Chicago from out west where I live. And of course... back.
And while I'm not a daily downtown commuter... I've spent many hours riding these rails back from a photo day in the city... 'chimping' all the way home. =)

Normally I find wax figures and mannequins kind of creepy up close, but this poor guy just looks sad to me. The lines and wrinkles etched in his face and the downcast eyes tell a story of a hard life moving from place to place without a spot to really call home.
