These are for my final major project. It was suggested that I repeated the 2 final designs over and over. this was for two reasons. One its was to get to know the design well, and the other was because to get to know the wood tool, and to get the most out of it.
So I have done each design 6 times. these will be connected with cable ties.
Pyrography Classes take place at the Chingford Horticultural Society Hall, Wednesday evenings 7:30-9:30pm.
Dave has turned this beautiful Russian style spindle from Red Oak. He has also burn etched an oak leaf motif around the spindle. We also made the accompanying earthenware support bowl.
1 3/4" x 2 1/2" wooden egg, woodburned and painted to look like a Skylander video character. Epoxy clay used to make the hammer, helmet ridge and gems.

2008 pyrography on pine. colored with acrylic paint and marker. Sorry for the quality of the photo, I fixed it as much as I could.
This Clock is done in the form of a Ceolophysis. A small dinosaur who's fossil remains intrigued me. After woodburning the image I then took a Dremmel Moto-tool and routered out a relief pattern around the fossil to give it that 3-D form. A little burning to touch up the project and then I set in the clock movement and face.
Mara completed her book for the #BrooklynSketchbookProject. She is mailing it away to be part of the Brooklyn Art Library! Each page is pyrography on paper with watercolor.
Walnut and tiger maple are the woods chosen by Dave for this beautiful spindle. He has used pyrography (burn etching) to adorn the notched 2 1/2 inch walnut whorl with his signature leaf motif. The overall length of the tiger maple shaft, including the brass hook, is 10 inches and the weight is 1.1 ounce.
