2015, 60x70 cm, graphite, oil, oil pastels on canvas. Work for the project "Art belongs to the Nation". We received anonymous letters from people we have never met and had to paint their portraits based on the information they provided. The girl I painted collects things with teddy bears and considers them her lucky charms.
Statement about the portfolio.
This mini-portfolio is a preview of what I have learned to do practically and creatively over the last 9 years. Artworks presented have been created in a time span of the last three years.
I do not have big experience in textile techniques but I have learned the basics of many other art mediums. Only a little part of them are in this portfolio. I do not consider these to be the best works I have made, but they are one of the most interesting ones, regarding to the process and creative ideas behind them. The works that I chose are also the ones that I simply like regardless of opinions from my teachers. My most often inspiration is nature, especially bugs and plants. One of my biggest personal projects was making bags with bug designs. My goal was to make something from second-hand materials, which in this case are used curtains. I sewed the bags with a sewing machine and made the bug designs by hand in a stencil technique. I am continuing this project by making bracelets from old belts in pyrography. The biggest work I have done over the years is examining and portraying nature. This includes such things as landscapes, still life, the human figure, body parts and architecture. The works are usually done in pencil or oil paints but I have also made quick studies in ink, watercolor, markers, charcoal and pens. I like experimenting with different materials, techniques and combine them.
