Wooden egg decorated in a rosemale style; a gift for my grandmother, whose favorite flower is the red rose.
Andean/Peruvian style bottom whorl drop spindle. The pyrography is an authentic Pre-Columbian design.
I handcrafted this 4 ½ inch spool knitter out of Cedar wood and fancied it up with pyrography artwork. I really like to use cedar for pyro-art because it burns easy and smells good while I am working on it. It has 4 framed stations, each with a different framed motif of artwork and it comes with a carved bone needle.
This is my western themed classical guitar of which I've woodburned (pyrography). Which took probably altogether about 32 hours. The top picture is the front and the bottom is the back and the bottom there is white acrylic paint to outline the writing. I'd like to also add that I have sanded all the varnish and stain off it.

This gourd won second place in the Gourd Artist's Guild 4th annual World Wide Web Gourd Show in 2005, in the woodburning category. :)
I sketched the main elements of this design onto the gourd freehand and then using my burning tool, stippled everything you see. There are no complete lines on this piece. The entire design is comprised of tiny burnt dots. The entire piece took over 1300 hours to complete.
The pictures here on flickr show this gourd completed before I applied the varnish.

Walnut and tiger maple are the woods chosen by Dave for this beautiful spindle. He has used pyrography (burn etching) to adorn the notched 2 1/2 inch walnut whorl with his signature leaf motif. The overall length of the tiger maple shaft, including the brass hook, is 10 inches and the weight is 1.1 ounce.
