In de afgelopen vier maanden is het volgens mij bij elkaar nog geen week zonnig weer geweest. Dus toen vandaag het zonnetje scheen ben ik direct met de camera naar buiten getogen. En geloof me, het was gewoon druk op straat met mensen die ook allemaal onder hun steen vandaan kwamen.
In afwachting van de Coevorden Shuttle passeerde deze combinatie van twee SNG4's. Beide hadden nog hun blauwe neusje, en de kans dat je ze zo treft is vandaag statistisch gezien nog slechts 25%. Bijna de helft van alle SNG's (48%) rijdt al met een gele neus rond, dus de blauwtjes gaan dit jaar waarschijnlijk uitsterven.
Daarom nog even een gewone foto van wat straks helemaal niet meer zo gewoon gaat zijn.

I took this as a partial remake of a photo I did a while back and I think I'm happy with how it turned out!
GTWs zijn af en toe te vinden in Putten. Voor gaat het om de Blauwnet kleuren maar deze keer niet. Het waren de GTWs uit het Noorden samen met 303 in de oude kleurstelling.

Put the Canon FD 28mm 3.5 SC lens that is stuck at f3.5 on a reverse macro ring on the Canon 5D Mark II and took it out to get some shots of snowflakes on my mitten.

I put this in my kitchen. I thought it turned out nice & it looks like it was painted on. It is actually a wall transfer that can be ordered. Of course it's not nearly as nice as some of the wall murals scarley flickr.com/photos/14887728@N04/ does, but the next best thing for those of us that aren't quite as artistic as she is.

Every year someone puts a stick in the ice with a flag on it. This particular day it was really cold and windy. All I could see was this sticking out of the ice. Each day it faces the bitter cold and the elements of Mother Nature. I’m sure it has good days and bad days just like we do. But each day it’s still standing tall. At end of year it’s usually still there. It’s a symbol of strength that no matter what storm we face you just have to push through. Doesn’t matter who you are or what you are about. Just remember. There’s no giving up. You just have to keep on going.
Here is the second in the series for A Christmas Story, there is lots of material to work within this movie. My crafting skills are really being put to the test with this time-consuming project. Lily did not balance well with the boots on and her head is constantly tipped back so it's hard to see her eyes. We were supposed to have a white Christmas but the snow never arrived so I just took advantage of the lovely back-light from the setting sun. My daughter whipped together the cute scarf.
Zo komt er weken niets bijzonders, en zo heb je twee onaangekondigde bijzonderheden op één dag. Na de graantrein van vanmorgen kreeg ik zojuist een heads-up (waarvoor dank) over de Green City Trip trein die over de Veluwelijn zou rijden. Dus ik snel met mijn camera naar het station, bleek dat het licht zo ongeveer uit was. De camera moest naar ISO 3200 worden opgeschroefd om nog enigszins een stilstaand beeld te kunnen maken. De trein reed namelijk op reguliere dienstregelingssnelheid door het station. Met wat kunst en vliegwerk heb ik toch nog deze foto kunnen maken....
UPDATE: De trein is net voorbij Putten gestrand, in de buurt van Ermelo.
Yet another storm put on a spectacular lightshow for us here a few nights ago. This is only a small selection of the lightning shots I captured in a 30 minute period while I left the camera on interval shooting. Some have had more work in lightroom than others.
This is my 5th visit to this part of India and even though I've spent many months here in total and see these lightshows regularly, I never get sick of them.

Sinds een jaartje is de 61030 een vaste gast in Putten. Meestal rond 14:30 uur maakt deze trein een korte stop op het zijspoor om de intercity aan zich voorbij te laten. Heel vaak is het een kort keteltreintje, soms met slechts twee of vier wagentjes. Vandaag was het een uitzonderlijk lange trein (voor 61030 begrippen) en werd deze getrokken door een Vectron. In de meeste gevallen wordt echter een 189'er ingezet.
Op de foto weer eens een ander overzicht van Putten, met op de voorgrond het huis van de vroegere stationschef van Putten, en op de achtergrond het station, de fietsenstalling, de traverse en de twee parkeerplaatsen. Rechts is nog het stootjuk te zien wat daar in 2007 is geplaatst, toen het goederenemplacementje van Putten werd gesaneerd.
Het is voorbij voordat je het weet: Het tijdperk van de SNG's met blauwe neuzen. Hier passeert stel 2352 station Putten. Het is één van de laatste 44 blauwkoppies in Nederland. Over enkele maanden zijn ze uitgestorven.
Yip Cider on Kingston Penninsula in New Brunswick has some very good ciders to enjoy. They even have an adult slushy.
Dankzij een welkome heads-up pakte ik zojuist dit setje lokken. Ik was echt nét wakker en last het berichtje dat binnen enkele minuten deze trein voorbij zou rijden. Nog voor ik me kon aankleden zag ik ze al passeren. Gelukkig draaiden ze het zijspoor op waardoor ik ze met gepaste spoed kon inhalen. Met een te grote lens op de camera spoedde ik me naar de Beekweg, waar ik precies op tijd arriveerde voor het maken van deze foto. Helaas geen extra ruimte kunnen laten voor de trein, waardoor ik hem op deze manier moest uitsnijden. Nou ja, ze staan in ieder geval als uniek trio op de foto.

Gisteren waren deze twee locs al even in Putten te zien met hun zusje Monique. Ergens in de nacht zijn Nicole en Demi weer terug gereden om deze sleep RailPro ballastwagens op te halen. Na een stop op het zijspoor staan ze hier op het punt om Putten te verlaten via de overweg aan de Volenbekerweg.
Vanmorgen zou de Euro9000 lok weer door Putten komen, dus ik stond op tijd klaar voor een foto. Groot was echter mijn verbazing toen zich dit trio aankondigde. Een V100 van RRF, een BR189 van MRCE en de Stadler Euro9000. Onder treinnummer 51390 kwamen ze om 10:33 uur binnen op het zijspoor, waar ze om 10:51 weer mochten vertrekken. Deze 18 minuten overstand maakte dat ik dit treintje drie keer in Putten kon fotograferen. Dit was de eerste foto, daarna ben ik nog naar het zijspoor gereden voor een tweede, en uiteindelijk heb ik het vertrek vanaf de kleine Beekweg gefotografeerd (zie andere foto).
Het is zondagmorgen als trein 5622 rond acht uur stopt langs spoor 2 in Putten. De sneeuw op het perron is nog onaangeroerd, want wie gaat er nou met dít weer op dit tijdstip op pad? In de trein zitten maar een stuk of tien mensen. Ik gok dat het vooral mensen zijn die vanuit hun nachtdienst weer op weg zijn naar huis.
SNG 2739 heeft de eer deze rit te mogen uitvoeren. Het allereerste ochtendlicht wordt nél een beetje zichtbaar in de blauwe lucht. De echte zonsopkomst is pas om 08:46 uur. Ik ben blij dat de dagen nu weer langer gaan worden.

Dispatcher Twelve put on a master class at Daggett on how to get trains onto the Santa Fe in a timely manner. Facetiously of course although this move did eliminate any route for eastbound trains and it did keep a Trona, California to West Elk, Colorado empty coal train on the BNSF's Mojave Subdivision for longer than I'm sure they would have wanted it to be there for.
With track and time in effect on the BNSF side (working on the pads on the grade crossing with A Street) Union Pacific stacked up four trains between Daggett and Yermo and with no other eastbounds other than the previous one mention left on both the Cajon Subdivision and Mojave, this did seem to be quiet the move. As Union Pacific's Manifest from Ogden, Utah to West Colton, California (left) rumbles up on the number one with a six pack of various General Electric locomotives on the head end, alongside them on the number two is the ISCLB (Intermodal Salt Lake City, Utah to Long Beach ICTF, California) as they wait for the go ahead from the BNSF to proceed westward. Once the track and time is released the Ogden Manifest will head out first with all twelve thousand feet of mixed manifest for the LA Basin, after which the Salt Lake will have it's moment in the sun with it's crappy SD70M leader then the other two trains will come through, after the BNSF slams a half dozen or so Intermodal trains through.
Vandaag was ik weer even in een alternatieve bui, toen er diverse bijzondere treinen door Putten kwamen. De losse G1206 van Strukton was daarbij eigenlijk maar gewoon een reguliere verschijning, maar de manier waarop ik hem fotografeerde maakte me toch wel weer blij. Hollandse koeien liggen op de voorgrond terwijl de loc onder het portaal door kart.

Dankzij een fijne heads-up (dank daarvoor), werd ik erop atteent gemaakt dat de klassieke 2225 verstopt zat in de Dolime naar het noorden. Ik had tijd, dus ging even kijken. Ik kon twee foto's maken. Eentje bij aankomst in Putten, en eentje bij vertrek vanaf het zijspoor. De eerste foto was eigenlijk mooier, maar op deze foto was de 2225 juist weer duidelijker te zien. Keuzes, keuzes, keuzes

Vandaag reed de 2308 zijn rondjes in de 5600-serie over de Veluwelijn. Hier staat hij naast de 2702.
Vandaag waren er nog maar 13 blauwe SNG's op de baan. Vanavond gaat er eentje de schuur in om vergeeld te worden, en morgen staat er nog eentje gepland om zijn laatste blauwe rit te maken.
Het is nu echt een uitstervend ras.
Zit ik rustig te ontbijten, krijg ik een berichtje van een lokale hobbyist dat er over drie minuten een blauwe SNG voorbij zal rijden. Met nog maar zeven blauwe SNG's op de baan in Nederland laat ik mijn ontbijtje even staan en pak mijn camera voor (alweer) een laatste foto van een blauwe SNG in Putten.
Op de foto draait de SNG 3012 het zijspoor op en de machinist zwaait vriendelijk naar me.
