Eén van de testen die een nieuwe ICNG moet ondergaan is een heftige remtest. En bij een nieuwe trein gaat dat dan soms gepaard met veel stof en vonken.
Vanmorgen stond ik met een grote telelens klaar voor een foto van ICNG 3119. Het doel was om een doorkijkje door de portalen richting het station te maken, met daarin de ICNG. Maar plotseling zag ik een enorme stofwolk onder de trein vandaan komen, en begon ik gelijk te schieten.
Thuis werd duidelijk dat ik naar een remtest van de ICNG had zitten kijken, helemaal toen op enkele foto's duidelijk de vonken onder de trein zichtbaar waren. Wat een geweldige verrassing, en wat een uniek beeld!

A couple months ago, I bought and scanned a slide of MARC GP39H-2 #73 taken as it was being delivered to MARC in early 1988. I thought it was the earliest, cleanest picture of the #73 until I laid eyes on this slide. Taken at MK Rail in Boisie on October 27th 1987, the #73 is so fresh, not all of the stenciling and lettering is complete! What a fresh picture of my favorite MARC unit.
This slide also took a bit of work, since it was mounted in the frame so that the rear of the engine was sliced off. I had to open the mount carefully, reposition the positive, and seal the mount back up It was worth it since now you can see the whole engine.

Remarkable Rocks

This view is probably one of the more commonly photographed compositions of this rock. On the morning we were there, there was a pink hue on the horizon opposite the sunset and very fast moving cloud. I put this picture up on aus photography forum and its strange, there seems to be haloing around the rocks which was pointed out to me but when I went back to the original to fix it up - no halo! Perhaps something to do with resize and sharpening ?
I mean, you would never have "just enough" sponsor decals on a racecar, would you? Or, say, trackside ads... :))

I got ahead of L563 with just enough time to set up at Spencer. The trio of SD60s sounded great as they curved onto what was once known as the "Owen cut-off". The track at left heads up the old Medford Sub, now mothballed by Watco. A shortcut to the then-new line to Superior as well as the Minneapolis line was built in 1910. June 22, 2025.

Leiden .....The Netherlands 2018
This is Molen de Put in Leiden. It is a wooden corn mill replica only 30 years of age.
The original mill dates back to 1619 and was owned by Jan Janszoon Put. The first mill burnt down in 1640, rebuilt in 1729 and destroyed again 1817. The octagonal mill foundation was later discovered in 1982 and reconstructed again in 1986 made possible through fundraising campaign among the population of Leiden.
So um yeah a loooooooooooooong time ago I requested to be put on the waiting list to receive THE socks, HOPING I would get them prior to my Day 365 back in December.
Prior to my Day 365 I was actually into sp's.
CRAZY I KNOW.
Well it didn't quite work out that way.
BUT the oh SO lovely Sarah was kind enough to send them my way recently.
The only problem is that now that 365 is no longer a part of my daily life (THANK GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I am SOOOO not into sp's anymore.
Like AT ALL.
Sooooo this is as good as it gets.
Sometimes that happens and I am okay with that.

Coming home from a trout fishing expedition in the foothills and took a turn I don't usually take and found an old chapel and bone orchard in the middle of nowhere...

In recent times the incidents reported on ivory poaching in various games parks through out Africa have increased alot and this has put the gentle giants,the Elephants,coming very close to be classified as an endangered species.Although poaching of elephants is a very serious menace to the survival of the species, lets hope that the new Wildlife Act which has just been enacted by the Kenyan Parliament acts as a deterrent to the poachers. .
Lets pray and hope that our future generations get to see and enjoy the lovely sights we get to see in our National Parks.
This head shot was captured during my recent visit to Masai Mara,Sept 2017, driving away from Keekorok Lodge saw this young elephant peacefully grazing.....what a pleasing sight to see the beautiful tusks on the animal instead of some shops in the Far East......

Folks i wasn't gone. But how should I put it, the weather is nice and the covid incidences are significantly low for Berlin. I'm on tour with the camera. Hey it's party time in town. We see the Warschauer Strasse S-Bahn station here. Berlin's most party-rich but also the most dangerous area. I wanted photographs from another bridge. See markings in the photo. It should be the “Modersohn Bridge”. But now I got there and was not alone. 😉 A lot of people have non-stop parties there. They dance in the sunset. Accordingly, I cannot take long exposures because the bridge vibrates and wobbles too much with these masses. That's funny because the next day at another time the people were gone. But the road traffic with too many big cars was much worse. Again no long exposures possible;)

The Transfiguration by Tiziano Vecellio lighted when a coin is put into a light box. I ran out of coins and had to find a bank for more.
Slechts een enkele keer per jaar is zo'n opvallende graantrein met knal oranje Wascosa wagens in Putten te zien. Dankzij een tip (bedankt!) was ik in staat om deze foto te maken. De Vectron van ELL was enkele uren eerder solo door Putten gekomen, op weg naar Coevorden. Hier sleept de 193737 trein 41322 namens LTE van Coevorden naar Europoort en kruist hier de overweg aan de Nijkerkerstraat in Putten.
Put the Lensbaby Scout on the camera and dropped in the double glass optic with the f4 aperture ring and a +4 macro filter on the optic.

I have chosen a ballpoint spring for this weeks #MacroMondays theme: #Spiral. I've put it on display on my phone (for being a mirror), put a burning candle with some yellow and red light effects behind. In this picture I also held my hand above the candle to create the orange foreground (nearly burned my hand in the long exposure of the picture :) )
I used a 70-300mm with 68mm macro extension tubes (are they called this way?).
