Each and every person puts off positive energy. Some more than others. I know I find much of my inspiration as an artist to create and share from other people. It doesn't matter if they're an artist or not. Through sharing ideas, be it in words, images or music, my friends shine in their own way, which in turn helps me guide myself along my own creative path. Sometimes you have to venture down paths alone and have faith in yourself that you can do it, that you're creative light is just as important as another. That it's OK to make mistakes and go down the wrong path every once and a while. It is there we sometimes learn valuable life lessons that help us in the future to not make these kinds of decisions again.

I've come to realize that it will always be easier to copy, criticize or destroy something, than it is to create something. And sometimes we don't know which is the best way to go. But I think that if we stay positive and understand that there are people out there that can help you get where you want to go, then it's a lot easier to follow light of your heart. The light that you've had your whole life. The light that helps you make your own decisions and gives you the strength to keep creating.

Note to all you out there who actually read --- normally I write these things and later delete them. I've always thought that pictures can have a higher meaning if the person looking at them can look a little deeper into the images through the words of the person that created it.

Put out to pasture so to speak but still appears functional. A bit like the photographer. 🤔

Ghost Villano

A high voltage transmission tower adjacent to the Batman Bridge north of Launceston, Tasmania.

I was trying to get a good angle on of the bridge, but there are these trees in the way of all the shots I had in my head. Then I noticed this transmission tower right next to it, and you can just walk right beneath it! Perfect!

I think it is interesting how power gets put together on a big old railroad. Somehow, a pair of leasor units have been paired together for the Cedar River Local for the past 2 weeks out of Waterloo. It's pretty neat to see a couple of old ex-Soo Line SD60's paired back together again. Here, the girls sit at the roundhouse at Waterloo over the weekend. The Cedar River doesn't work over the weekend much, so the power will sit for a day or so unless needed on M338 for a kicker unit.

These Soo SD60's were in the 1st 21 units order (6000-6020), which were delivered between between August and October 1987. This bunch was returned leased, and some spent time on the INRD. Now, power short CN has them.

I thought that my little secret was safe…After all, who could possibly find out about my little misadventure this early morning….It all started as I forgot to put my clocks forward to British summer time, making me late riser this morning…….…..Having gulped a cup of tea down, and picked up my guitar and raced to the garage……And slid down the side of the car in my tight garage having placed the guitar in a safe out of harms way place first……It was at that time my phone rang with someone asking where I was as I was late……Thus putting me under more pressure to make up time, as I struggled into the car and fired up the engine slammed it into reverse and reversed straight into my safe place…..And despite my revving engine You could plainly hear the strings pinging as they snapped as the guitar was crushed……I quickly gathered up the remains and put them in the boot of the car and rushed off to my meeting, in the secure knowledge that things could have been worse…For considering that all of the CraZyGang were still very much into British winter time and had no intentions of moving into British summer time this cold morning thank goodness, and would not have been awake to see or hear a thing…..Meaning…… I would not have to face any awkward happy questions about the demise of the guitar when I got home……Or so I had thought….For it would seem that Millie has a story to tell!!!!...And tell it she did…...But at least I can console myself in the knowledge that at least Maysie-May and Halo look suitably unhappy to think that they might never hear me play again !!!!!!!!! I mean just look that face of Halo to prove my point...!!!!!!

It's silly o'clock and I slither out from under the bed clothes, lit only by the LED on the clock. Its cold, the heating hasn't fired up yet. I quickly put on my clothes, specially laid out for speed. I hurry downstairs (we don't live in a bungalow you know!!) Gathering up all my gear I have placed by the door, I call upstairs.... Byeeeee, see you later. I'm off to the car. I have to scrape the frost from the windscreen; I think this is a good sign. I set off into the darkness, looking over the hedge where ever I can for any sign of the mist. Suddenly I hit a pocket... my heart skips a beat... so, it's about!!!!!

I pull into the little gravel car park at the bottom of Martinsell Hill. By this time there is just a smidge of light in the sky, you can see outlines of trees and hedgerows shooting off into the darkness. Switching off the headlights, my eyes take a few seconds to adjust. I set off through the gate and now for the climb up the hill. I know there are cows in the field as every five or six footsteps it feels a little squelchy underfoot :o(.. It's OK, I have my walking boots on and spares in the car :o). I head up the hill, Pewsey Vale on my left and a small wood on my right. Sometimes there’s a Raven just beginning to croak good morning at me ( I love that sound ) but not this morning, but as always there’s a Tawny Owl telling me it's his wood, sometimes the female adds her support !! All of a sudden a cow stands up in front of me from its overnight sleeping place, I nearly wet myself. It's still too dark to clearly see, but I hate using a torch, it spoils the mood. I have a chuckle and press on. I round a corner on the hillside and cross a stone-age flint quarry, the only tell tale sign these days is when the sun finally rises and the light dances off the hillside, it looks like the surface of a giant golf ball. I wonder if thousands of years ago Stone Age people sat here knapping flint for arrow heads and watched the sun rise, as I will!! Must press on, the sun won’t wait, every minute there is more light. I reach my chosen spot, heart pounding, as much from the excitement of what could happen, as from the walk up the hill. Unpacking all the kit and setting it up all takes time, checking and re-checking the settings. By now the mist is really starting to form, lying in hollows and collecting around trees. A buzzard calls somewhere, I don’t even look up, I just love the fact it made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Within minutes the sun pops over the far side of the vale, and sprays its rays over the mist, clipping the tops of the trees.

It’s then that I know.... silly o’clock wasn’t so silly :o)

If you get this far, well done.... if not, sod ya..... lol ...

Het is nog maar net 7 uur 's morgens als lok 6411 terug komt uit het noorden na zijn nachtelijke klus met de Jules. Op weg naar huis rijdt de machinist met een prima gangetje door Putten zodat ik er een speed blur foto van kan maken. Het ochtendzonnetje is nog zacht. maar al krachtig genoeg voor een goede belichting.

With the loss of my cat this week, I've kept her toys and put them into storage along with a few other things. The blue mouse on an elastic string with handle, she used to run around after for hours (more so when she was younger) and it squeaks.

A local cat charity had some of the other things, food and cat litter and some unused scratching poles and toys she never played with.

Given an HDR treatment.

Leiden .....The Netherlands 2018

This is Molen de Put in Leiden. It is a wooden corn mill replica only 30 years of age.

The original mill dates back to 1619 and was owned by Jan Janszoon Put. The first mill burnt down in 1640, rebuilt in 1729 and destroyed again 1817. The octagonal mill foundation was later discovered in 1982 and reconstructed again in 1986 made possible through fundraising campaign among the population of Leiden.

I put up my Christmas decoration. I love these lights and so I didn't put all of them down last year after Christmas ;)

In other news I joined my friend Stefan for watching the season game of Hertha BSC in the Berlin Olympic Stadium yesterday. Berlin won and so Stefan was happy. Later my team also won and so it was a good day for both of us :)

I got ahead of L563 with just enough time to set up at Spencer. The trio of SD60s sounded great as they curved onto what was once known as the "Owen cut-off". The track at left heads up the old Medford Sub, now mothballed by Watco. A shortcut to the then-new line to Superior as well as the Minneapolis line was built in 1910. June 22, 2025.

Slechts een enkele keer per jaar is zo'n opvallende graantrein met knal oranje Wascosa wagens in Putten te zien. Dankzij een tip (bedankt!) was ik in staat om deze foto te maken. De Vectron van ELL was enkele uren eerder solo door Putten gekomen, op weg naar Coevorden. Hier sleept de 193737 trein 41322 namens LTE van Coevorden naar Europoort en kruist hier de overweg aan de Nijkerkerstraat in Putten.
