She walked in as I had just put on my nightie. A lime green smock which wouldn’t look out of place in a residential home for the elderly. In fact, I had thought that it was a second-hand gift from my Ex following the death of one of her charges.
I had forgot that I had not locked the door. She ’coo-eed’ a hello. She asked for my Ex. I told her that she had decided to spend the night killing forgotten power ballads at the local karaoke meet at the other end of the street.
She had those red shoes on. The kind that said ‘I could be wearing a bin bag but you would only notice the shoes ... ‘
And boy did she have legs. Legs encased in cropped corduroy.
Slim.
I always envied her figure. She stood a few good inches taller than me. Her long blonde hair cascading down the pink Hello Kittys she wore a size too tight.
’Nina, can you call her? I need to speak to her ... ‘
I dialled my Ex’s cellphone.
Turned off.
I told her that my Ex was out of reach and chances are, she would be somewhere between ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘Take My Breath Away’.
She looked visibly upset. I asked her what was wrong.
Boy problems. It was almost always the case with her. Its not the first time she’s turned up her at the flat intending the comfort of my Ex’s sympathetic ear.
I turned down Stephen Fry on the TV. Got up to get a cup of mint chocolate for her. Instinct. Pure instinct. Mint chocolate always calms me down.
I told her to talk to me. Pulled out a pack of my Ex’s menthols and gave her a stick.
’Calm down and talk to me’.
She did.
Her Boy kicked her out. Could not take her mood swings. Typical. I believe he was bi-polar himself.
She was a ‘cutter’. I knew that much. It took a lot for her to stop being one. It must have taken a lot for her to seek my Ex out for solace. She hardly knew my Ex.
We talked. We talked through half a pack of menthols.
She kicked off those shoes and tucked her legs under her. I made us fresh cups.
Stephen Fry had given way to Steven Seagal.
She smiled and paused and asked me about myself. I didn’t tell her anything beyond the fact that I was my Ex’s best friend.
She said that she knew more. My Ex had told her about me in one very inebriated night.
She found me interesting. She held my hand and told me that its okay to be me.
I could never have forseen what happened next.
She leaned forward and kissed me full on the lips.
I just sat there . Didn’t have a clue what to do next. She smiled and did it again. This time it was more intense. I responded. I held her head in my hands and we kissed.
We kissed for a long time.
Steven was shooting someone in the head. I thought he was a chef in that movie? By the time he took out half the baddies, my nightie was on the floor. Along with that pink top.
It was amazing. She was amazing.
I didn’t think that what we were doing was wrong. It felt nice. It felt nice touching a woman again. The familiar smells that were so like my own. The softness of the skin and the wispy fluttering of that gorgeous blond mane. It didn’t feel wrong when we were naked on the sofa. It didn’t feel wrong when she showed me that she was just a physically similar to me. I felt waves of relief when she said that my own body felt so natural to her and that I moved and responded like ‘just any other woman’.
It didn’t feel wrong at all.
We were still cuddling when Steven saved civilisation yet again. I left her lying on the sofa while I retired to my Ex’s bed. I had to get up early for work the next morning.
Just before I left the next day, I spent a good part of the morning just sitting by her, watching her sleep. Got Frank out and took a sneaky picture of her. I don’t know why I did that.
I then left her in the flat knowing that my Ex would be back early that day after bunking with one of her mates the previous night.
I didn’t see her again. I asked my Ex several days later about her. I had been thinking about her and hoped that we could meet again.
Turned out that she jumped off the pier shortly after leaving the flat.

This was a year that started a change in me I think.. I had about 3 "world" trips lines up with various friends at the time, all of which were scaled back and then eventually canceled.. I can't explain why, but just on a feeling I decided to go where *I* would go (even if it meant doing it by myself). At the time, it was one of scariest things I'd done. Now, I think to myself "Why'd I wait so long? Just imagine if I'd pulled of the band-aids 20 years earlier".

I put pieces together to make the normal appearance of Olaf, who I will call the Winter Olaf. He has his happy face, long nose, and his hair without the hat. I decide to have one short arm and one long arm. He is in the standing pose.
In Mix Em Up Olaf's standing mode, he is 8'' H to the top of his head, or 9 1/2'' H to the top of his hair. He is about 7 1/2'' H in his sitting mode. Despite what the box says, there are actually 22 pieces in the play set, and not 14. The full list of pieces are: 2 heads, 2 noses, 1 hair piece, 1 hat, 1 upper body, 1 lower body, 4 arms, 2 feet/legs, 2 boots, 3 buttons, 1 drink, 1 pair of sunglasses, 1 ukulele. The heads, and body have one or more holes in insert pieces, and a peg to attach to each other. The hat has just one hole, through which another piece with a peg has to be inserted to secure it to a body part. All the other pieces have one or more pegs which can be inserted into any of the holes in the body. There are left and right arms that are shorter and bent. There is another pair of longer, straight arms. One head has his iconic wide eyed and open mouth smiling expression. The other head is closed mouth, with eyes looking up. The feet/legs can be put in front for a sitting position, or underneath for a standing position. The boots are Kristoff's. The drink can be put into the holes in the palms of his hands. He is the right scale to match up with the 17'' Anna and Elsa dolls. So it would really nice if Disney would make a 17'' - 18'' Kristoff doll.
Even though I already bought most of the Art of Aurora items online on release day (Monday July 28), I couldn't wait to received them through the mail. So I got some of those items at my Disney Store today (Thursday July 31). I also got some other items as well, in particular the Mix Em Up Olaf doll set. The Olaf and the Art of Aurora snow globe are my favorite items from this haul. I was surprised that they were already sold out of the Maleficent mugs, but had plenty of the Aurora mugs left. They haven't got the jewelry box yet. They just got the lithographs and the Olaf in today, so I was glad I stopped by today.

Wayne Newton put on Vegas-style concert at PNE 2010
Wayne Newton, Mr. Las Vegas came to PNE 2010 on Aug 26, 2010 to perform a concert and he put on a Vegas-style show complete with blues and gospel singers with himself showing the many musical talents that had earned him a deserved reputation as a premier showman over a 40+ years career. Newton sang his signature song Danke Schoen, Lionel Richie’s Lady and some old-time rock and roll tunes such as Chuck Berry’s Go Johnny Go and little bit of Jerry Lee Lewis’s classic Great Balls of Fire with himself on the piano too. He picked the guitar and banjo and played the violin like a bluegrass fiddler would. All under a cloudy sky that forecasted for rain which did came late into his concert. Not pouring down, but enough to get many in the audience wet and left the PNE fairgrounds a bit earlier than they would have liked.

Middlebury Girl Scouts Put Butterfly Houses in Park - 9-18-2020. Just the first step of revitalizing Hermance Park in Bristol, Indiana, the Middlebury Girl Scouts Troop 00377 chose to pursue their Bronze award project in the park. Bronze is the highest award a 4 or 5th grade girl can earn. 10 of these 13 girls have been together in scouts since 1st grade and have all grown into great friends and sisters. They finished the award by building butterfly houses and hanging them in Hermance Park on Friday evening, Sept. 18, 2020.Their Butterfly houses were painted in bright colors along with Images of flowers or simple designs in a combination of bright colors to attract the butterfly’s attention. Four houses each were mounted on a 3 different poles in the park. Butterfly houses provide a convenient area for butterflies to find shelter from the elements and to hide from hungry predators. Park Board member Linda Powell donated a bucket of milkweed seeds for the girls to scatter as as an attraction for the butterflies. With the guidance of adult volunteers, like Jill Swartz and the Duran Family, Girl Scouts earn badges, explore the outdoors, attend fun events and field trips, and participate in the Girl Scout cookie program.
