Pega no flagra! "Oh God! They found me!"

Huguette preferred the seclusion of our cabin veranda to spend much of her time at sea. She had a whole bunch of books on her Kindle and, when she ran out, she downloaded more using the convenient wireless Internet service available throughout the ship (for a fee, of course).

Put in some new seats in my Saab 99 -71.

Ways to stand sassy:

Jut one hip out and bend leg at knee

Hands on hips

Big smile--mouth open is key

Raised eyebrows (apparently)

Try it, you'll like it!

Put my clothes back on and then grabbed this panorama of the Bliss Beach at Paya Bay, Roatan, Honduras.

After the recent fires that spread over 600 Kms burning entire forests cities and villages, a group of voluntaries walks through the railroad besides the burnt Manquehua train station, helping country side villages recover basic services like water, shelter and essential provisions.

You would do that at home wouldn't you?

Winter has not arrived in Wisconsin yet, but I got the winter commuter bike up and running with brand new, shiny Wald fenders.

Jimmy Dickens

Hillbilly singers never will come any hillbilly-er than Little Jimmy Dickens. Indeed, as he put it himself on one early hit record, he’s “a plain old ... cornbread lovin’ country boy,” from the toes of his loudly colored cowboy boots to the top of his head, just 4’11” later.

The current generation of country fans will recognize Jimmy from his frequent guest spots in the videos of Brad Paisley, but the truth is that Jimmy first gained national exposure nearly half a century ago. None other than Roy Acuff first introduced him to the old Ryman Auditorium stage all the way back in 1948, and Dickens has been wowing Opry audiences pretty much ever since—longer than any other current cast member—with his flamboyant rhinestone-studded outfits, wild novelty hits, and country humor.

Jimmy was the oldest of 13 children born to a West Virginia farmer. He started singing on radio station WOLS in nearby Beckley while attending the University of West Virginia, opening his program “crowing like a rooster.” Even though Jimmy had to walk to and from the station, he set his sights on an entertainment career that would eventually find him spreading his brand of “Hillbilly Fever” all around the world.

Literally. Jimmy has made 13 trips to Europe, and he twice entertained the troops in Vietnam. In 1964, Jimmy became the first country artist to completely circle the globe on a world tour. That same year, he released “May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose.” The single topped the country charts, even went to No. 15 on the pop charts, and Jimmy found himself on several network shows, including The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

Of course, by then, Jimmy had been a beloved figure among the country faithful for years. He’d had a string of down-home novelty hits, including “A-Sleeping at the Foot of the Bed,” “Out Behind the Barn,” and “Take an Old Cold Tater (And Wait),” the song that prompted Hank Williams to dub his diminutive friend “Tater.” Jimmy is also a master of the recitation and a ballad singer so expert that it once prompted no less than George Jones to honor his friend with the tribute album Like the Dickens!

Jimmy joined the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1983, and in 1996 he and his wife Mona celebrated their 25th anniversary by renewing their marriage vows on the very Opry stage where Dickens still shows the world that “I may be little....but I’m loud!”

"...whitewash-brush to put it on with. The victim was then asked a question and if he answered it he got a good mouthfull of the mixture. He was then lathered and shaved with a razor made of an old saw blade after which they was thrown back into the tank and the hose played on him. This was finer amusement for the officers, who looked on, laughed at & enjoyed the whole performance. But we (the marines) made up our minds that they would not make laughing stocks of us. After shaving the sailors they waited on the orderly Sergt and asked if we would pay the fine or be shaved when he told them that we had made up our minds that we would do neither. They encouraged by some of the officers said they would shave us. We then rallied between two guns and told them that they should not take one of us, as several of them had clubs one or two of our boys drew their bayonets when but for the interference of the officers there would probably have been some blood spilt. They seeing that they could not take us on deck (although they mustered 200 or over to our 25) thought they would play the hose on us where we were. They then brought it down and when the water was let on they turned it on us thinking no doubt that we would stand and take it but in this they were mistaken for we pitched in and after a little "pushing out from the shoulders" we succeeding in taking the hose away from them..."

This Is a cap I made to submit to PropInsanity for a review, I love how sweet yet sassy the design is. Tracy Joy took the wonderfully sweet photo. I love it all!!

You can read about me and my hats in my profile.

I made my husband's Joker costume this year for Halloween. The pants are SuedeSays (Simplicity 1948) and the jacket & vest are Simplicity 4083. The bowtie is from a free pattern from Sis Boom.

The pants pattern was so fabulous. Easy directions. The pockets were the first successful pockets I have ever done in a pair of pants. My husband actually wants a regular pair of pants in the pattern.

The jacket was fun to do. I altered the back and the front to resemble the Joker's jacket from the Arkham City game. The vest pattern was not as easy to assemble as the other two. I don't like how it was put together and would do it differently next time but the overall effect is what my husband wanted, and that's the important thing.

I used some curtain fabric from Joann's. It has the 'lines / stripes' in the suit that the Joker needed (according to my husband).

Put together a new product model of this super innovative audio recorder, Teenage Engineering TP-7 Field Recorder. It is a nice blend of old school analogue combined with new age digital design. The main feature being the motorized tape reel, designed with high quality brush motors with ball bearings that receives inputs with Hall effect sensors so you can scrub your audio files that gives a direct input interface. Combined with a side rocker, allows for intuitive control over fast forward and rewind actions. Just hit the Memo button and start recording!

I modeled this using Blender and used Keyshot at a render engine, modeled to perfectly match the physical product 1:1.

Base,

I put in an underground parking entrance in the back, as well as a loading garage door. I have a Fed Ex truck coming for the back alleyway! Lots of aging needs to be done to the back alley way and sidewalks :)

Bell on Put-In-Bay

Put-In-Bay, South Bass Island, Ottawa County, Ohio

June 4th, 2019

Today I spent several hours on South Bass Island and did something different this time. I paid to go on an hour long tour of the island on the tour train. Along the way the guide will point out different spots and landmarks telling a little bit about each one. The thing that stood out to me most was this right here. This bell is part of a tower with three other bells like it. They stand there because back in December 1989 a team was responding to an emergency medical call on Kelly's Island. On the way there they crash-landed and all four of them lost their lives. Today the tower stands and rings every day in their memory. As I sat on the bench in DeRivera park I could hear their sound as it was carried by the wind over the island. Faint, but still audible.

Yes, that is the same garland that was used a few days ago for "Window Shopping" and then again for "Family"/"Sign of the Season".

For 6 weeks, the mobile radar truck NOXP was stationed at this location on Chambers Mountain that sat high above the Pigeon River basin in the Smokies of North Carolina. The radar truck was supporting the Integrated Precipitation and Hydrology Experiment (IPHEx), a joint experiment between NASA and several other research organizations.

I'm glad I was only involved with the operations and not the actual driving of this behemoth onto and off of the mountain. At the end of the experiment, I traveled back to Norman a few days before this truck was to be moved off the mountain. Conditions at the end of the experiment were very wet, which made the ground extremely soft. After 3 hours of digging it out, the post-doc involved with removing the radar said that the truck had to be backed down to the cattle pen shown in the photo before it could be turned around. Good thing that road isn't heavily traveled!
