Put this on because this year there seems to be lots more of these in several areas around the site they are spreading well.I didn't see a single large dragonfly today but had a couple of butterfly sightings, also a cattle egret fly by.

I'll be honest & say that the 'Splat' top was really unusable to me at first and this outfit made no sense. But once I removed it - turning the odd bunching into a lovely tunic - and then switched the skirt that the outfit uses to over it instead of under I was left with something I really loved.
Put on your 3-D glasses and feel the Green Heron poke your eye out!
This Heron had trouble catching fish and started poking and grabbing on all sorts of things, including that stick. He didn't eat any of the sticks and rocks though.
For the record, I was not playing with the Heron. He was down in the canal and I was up on the bridge. This is a very tight crop.
I put the sigma 150-500 f5-6.3 on the Canon 5D Mark II and went out back yesterday. We are still sticking close to home even though the province is now in Phase 3 - hubby has day surgery on his back on Monday and they asked that we limit who we see just our household or if we have others here that they mask up even though we have had both shots each. I forget how heavy this lens is at times but, I love it nonetheless.
Hand held aperture priority at f6.3 ISO was 320 and I focused on the one cattail. I know, it's in the middle a no-no for the composition but I am a photography rule breaker. Edited in ON1 Photo Raw 2021 by adding the Kodachrome preset - it is one of my favourite ones as it reminds me of the colours one would get with Kodachrome film.

Main story
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One, to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other, to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days, staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

Disease was a major cause of death for early settlers - but there is an interesting "back story" -
Yellow fever is characterised by severe fever, nausea, pain, and liver damage, the last of which produces the yellow hue from which the disease takes its name.
Luke Pryor Blackburn was born into a politically well-connected family, but after spending an undistinguished term in the Kentucky General Assembly in 1843, he left politics for a career in medicine. When the Civil War broke out in 1861, Blackburn sided with the Confederacy. But at age 44 the doctor was too old to enlist in the army. Instead, his political connections and professional expertise were put to use as an envoy and a doctor to the Confederacy.
In Toronto, Blackburn met Colonel Jacob Thompson, a Confederate spy and former member of President James Buchanan’s cabinet, and Godfrey Joseph Hyams, an impoverished English shoemaker displaced by Northern troops from his Arkansas home. In 1864 the South was in retreat, and the Confederates were desperate for a way to turn the tide. Blackburn, who knew first-hand how yellow fever could ravage a population, hatched a plan: infect Northern cities and Northern-occupied cities in the South by unleashing the fever on Union troops using the vomit- and blood-soaked clothes of ill and dying yellow-fever sufferers.
As it turned out his attempts were to fail (yellow fever is a viral infection spread mainly my mosquitoes and not by contact with victims or their clothing) - Blackburn was arrested by Canadian police in May 1865 for plotting an act of war against the United States while living in Canada (violating the nations’ neutrality agreement) but was acquitted when the court found only circumstantial evidence.
Eventually Blackburn’s prestige from fighting yellow fever eclipsed his infamy. He ran for governor of Kentucky in 1879, leaving the campaign for a time to battle against another outbreak of yellow fever. Despite a resurgence of bad press, Blackburn won the election. Once in office he worked to improve conditions in Kentucky’s prisons.
Put new light seals in my dad's Minolta SRT 101 (my first film camera). I picked up a new lens, a rangefinder-style 21mm that requires the mirror to be locked up. It's zone-focus only, and framing is done with an external finder.

Iedere 24 uur dienen alle sporen in Nederland bereden te worden door minimaal 20 assen. Dat geldt dus ook voor alle wissels.
Putten heeft acht wissels, en deze worden in de reguliere dienst bijna niet gebruikt. Ze liggen dan in de "voorkeursstand", wat in de volksmond niet zelden "rechtdoor" wordt genoemd. Het is aan de treindienstleider om ieder etmaal 20 assen over de nog niet gebruikte sporen en wissels te sturen, om roestvorming te voorkomen. Deze roestvorming veroorzaakt namelijk signaleringsproblemen, waardoor seinen en wissels niet goed meer werken.
Bijna iedereen kent de vier wissels die zorgen dat het emplacement van Putten van twee- naar viersporig gaat, en ook weer terug. Maar aan de Nijkerkse kant van het perron en voorbij de Beekweg aan de Ermelose kant liggen ook nog wissels. Deze wissels maken het mogelijk om bij een versperring op een slimme manier te kunnen keren. Niet alle stations hebben zulke wissels, en dat is waarom Putten regelmatig het keerstation is in geval van een stremming.
Op de foto worden de wissels aan de Nijkerkse kant bereden door een lange grindtrein. De trein wisselt vlak voor het perron naar "linkerspoor", en rijdt een stukje tegen de gangbare richting in over spoor 2. Na de overweg van de Stationsstraat wisselt de trein nog verder door naar links en parkeer daar op het zijspoor. Als de intercities zijn gepasseerd vervolgt de trein zijn weg door van het zijspoor naar het hoofdspoor terug te keren, en een klein stukje verder wisselt hij door van het linker- naar het rechterspoor. Op die manier heeft de treindienstleider zes van de acht Puttense wissels laten berijden.
Deze manier van roestrijden veroorzaakt weinig hinder voor de reizigers. Maar omdat er niet iedere dag goederentreinen beschikbaar zijn voor dit klusje worden rond middernacht geregeld ook reizigerstreinen over de wissels gestuurd. En omdat de maximum snelheid over de wissels slechts 40 km/h is treden er hierdoor bij de gebruikte reizigerstreinen nog wel eens wat vertragingen op.
Deze foto is om 21:05 uur gemaakt vanaf de laatste tegel van spoor 2, kijkend richting Nijkerk. Mocht je ooit eens op het perron staan te wachten dan zijn deze overloopwissels duidelijk zichtbaar.
More emulsion photography. Several months ago, the Poly Photo club in San Diego put on a workshop that included a presentation by one of our members about how to create emulsion art using whole milk, food coloring and dish washing detergent. Lighting stuff: I used a bare YN560-III, in manual mode, to put some light to to the emulsion. The flash was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N. I've also posted a picture of the setup that I used, because sometimes people find that to be helpful. Check the first comment down below to see the setup.

Regen is vloeibare zonneschijn, daar kun je ook gewoon mee fotograferen. En bijkomend voordeel is dat je ook geen last hebt van tegenlicht of fotowolken. Kijk maar.......
Ik werd vandaag wakker met op mijn telefoon enkele appjes van twee fotografen van de Veluwelijn. Beide wisten ze me te melden dat er een graantrein aan zat te komen. Omdat ik een gat in de dag had geslapen (13:00 uur) vreesde ik dat ik hem al had gemist, maar ik had mazzel. De doorkomst van deze trein stond gepland om 13:37 uur, en dat matchte precies met de vertrektijd naar mijn werk. En dus stond ik op tijd klaar met mijn camera.
De meeste graantreinen hebben van die mooie oranje Wascosa wagens, maar vandaag doemde er een zo mogelijk nóg mooiere trein op. Wellicht is bekend dat ik van homogene treinen hou, zoals de Dolime en de RailPro steenslagtreinen. Mooie strakke slepen van allemaal dezelfde wagens. Nou, deze graantrein was ook een pareltje uit deze categorie. Want alle wagens waren volledig zwart, en omdat ze als nieuw leken hadden ze ook nog eens geen enkele graffiti. De strakke lichte LTE Traxx misstond ook niet voor deze trein, en dat leverde dus een fijne foto op.
Iets te enthousiast uitte ik mijn blijdschap over de wagens, terwijl één van de lokale spottertjes nog stond te filmen. En dus riep ik ondoordacht terwijl zijn camera nog liep. Excuses daarvoor! Kun je zien dat ik filmende hobbyisten echt nog niet gewend ben na 40+ jaar alleen maar met fotografen te hebben gewerkt.
Voor de nummertjesfetisjisten kan ik melden dat het treinnummer 41322 was, met Traxx LTE 286 940. De rit ging Coeta - Zl - Pt - Amf - Ut - Ah - Em.

Really charming hilltop town, rather steep slopes though.
Put my Nikon gear to good use, in particular my Nikon lenses 24-70mm f2.8 G and 70-200mm f4.0 G which I did not bother to replicate on my Sony system due to weight and bulk.
Recently put together two photos of the Markarian Chain of galaxies in Virgo. Will add to it when Virgo comes around again!

Scooter and Nemo whined at the front door, their tails wagging wildly. I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and sighed. It was time to walk my two best buds. After hopping out of the shower, I put on my Cold Ash Chinos and black Ascend shirt. I threw on my black and white Yunov Versov sneakers. The whining reached a fever pitch so I knew they wouldn't wait long. I looked over at them and grinned "I'm coming, I'm coming. Just hold it a little longer" I said to them. They both tilted their heads as if they understood me but I knew they didn't. I quickly reached for my brush and comb and picked out my hair that I just got cut by Vladdy. I marveled at the clean part in my hair and thought to myself, "Ya boy clean as hell!" To complete my look, I carefully opened the black and gold Moncada box and put on my Notorious shades. I was good to go! I grabbed an energy drink to wake me up a little more and my phone and Hive leather wallet and headed out the door with Scooter and Nemo right at my heels. The sun was shining and there wasn't too many people out on the strip. Today was going to be a great day.

For it they sing in a continuous way the distinctive " chak-a-chak-a-chak " and make movements synchronized around the various protagonists of the history(story) who intervene in the center, surrounded by the chorus(choir). The peak of the support(accompaniment) which goes crescendo coincides with the victory during the fight

Bird ringing generates information on the survival, productivity and movements of birds, helping us to understand why populations are changing.
Ringing data make a major contribution to the study of population changes and to our understanding of species declines. Bird populations are determined by the number of fledglings raised and the survival of both juveniles and adults. Whilst ringers collect data on survival, volunteers for the Nest Record Scheme collect information on productivity. The results can be analysed in combination with population trend data, such as that collected through the BTO/JNCC/RSPB Breeding Bird Survey, to determine at which stage of a bird’s life cycle there might be a problem. This enables scientists and conservationists to target appropriate mitigation measures.
It usually takes a year or more, ringing regularly with qualified ringers, to obtain a ringing permit.
Basic bird identification skills and reasonable dexterity are required.

Although intended for high-speed passenger service, and capable of speeds over 100 mph, Norfolk & Western's 14 J-Class steamers had relatively short careers, ranging from 10-20 years, depending on how early they were built. At the end of their service lives, some of these engines were relegated to freight service, as depicted in this 2019 re-creation at Pennsylvania's Strasburg Railroad. Here, we see the sole survivor of the class, #611 hauling a vintage freight through farm fields not unlike what she would have seen in Virginia. This image was captured as the train climbed the grade out of Paradise, PA on the sweeping curve named for the late Henry K. Long, a former Chairman of the Board of the Strasburg Railroad.

Nathan, Leon and I were in the studio this afternoon bouncing ideas off eachother and trying all kinds of lighting and posing variations. This concept came from Nathans creative little brain and was brought to life by the three of us. We hope you enjoy.
I'm thinking of getting a new tattoo, so I'm really into this now.
I might be boring soon, but drawing tattoos is so much fun. I've already started working on another one.
I put off my picture again until the last minute and tried to shoot a water droplet illuminated by an off-camera flash with a purple gel. Working with speed lights has always been a frustrating experience for me as I have not mastered how to set them up or control them properly. This is the best of the bunch and it is not sharp or clear, but sometimes we have to fail to figure out the areas that need improvement. I might have to keep working on this type of image until I master it.
Arriva put the first HT’s in service yesterday, on their newly won 202.
I had a quick ride on HT7 today and although it wasn’t on the other side of this stand at Blackheath Standard as I’d hoped I still grabbed this picture. HT1-17 are for the 202 at Norwood Garage, the balance of HT18-28 will be delivered shortly for the 405 at Croydon.
