On January 28, 2024, about 3 inches of wet snow fell in Troy, New York, USA, blanketing the trees. When I went to get my mail at about 4:30 PM the next night, I found a lovely reflection in a puddle. Beauty everywhere! This photo was requested for a print by a friend.

Zwolle, Burg Van Roijensingel / Van Nagellstraat.
I lived here for a few years after my student days.
As the sun was going down the sky was turning a beautiful pink. As I walked past this puddle in the road I could see the clouds reflected in the water.

Good morning everyone and I hope you had a nice weekend. I always wanted to do a series about butterflies "puddling" and finally took the time to put together the above collage to lead things off. I also included in the comment section a few additional photos of some of the above butterflies along with an explanation of the "puddling" behavior.
As for the above collage, the one common thread of the photos is all the butterflies are "puddling" on aquatic plants at Lacey Pond. The plant material was brought on land after being snagged in fishermen's lures and then deposited on the shore along the water's edge. It must be chock full of nutrients because I never fail to see butterflies "puddling" on it when available.
I hope you enjoy the this series and find the text in the comment section about the "puddling" behavior informative.
Thank you for stooping by...and I hope you have a truly great day and week.
Lacey
PS...for any of the collages I post you need to ignore the date taken and camera data info as it does not apply.

Some beautiful frozen shapes in a puddle this morning in the Peak District. I wish I'd taken more care with this as the top portion is out of focus. You live and learn though.
We actually wanted to go to a pond, but access was blocked. A puddle was the only body of water I photographed that afternoon.

big thanks to everyone who came by to relax, nap, and drink cold beer on tap with us at the Relax-o-matic Plushitorium (except for the guy who burned the couch, although he did teach us a valuable lesson), we are happy to serve you up with everything plushtastically nap-related!

We had lunch out today, followed by a thrilling visit to the OH's favourite store ... I didn't go in.
This was another rare shot I’d always longed for in the Seattle area down in the back alleys of South Seattle. Switchers that trim the south end of the Union Pacific’s Argo Yard in Seattle use a stretch of street/back alley running to pull long cuts. The yard engine has paused for a moment in a puddle after pulling south down the 8th Ave alley in the funky little neighborhood of Georgetown. Momentarily they will start shoving back north as a resident dodges his way through. Amazingly the multi track BNSF/UP Seattle Sub mainline is only two blocks to the right.

Foglie in una pozzanghera in un giardino publico, mi veniva voglia di saltare d'entra come si faceva un tempo molto lontanoooooo. Speravo di vedere il sole arrivare per dare un po di vita a questo scatto, niente che fare.
Leaves where floating in puddle, had almost the feeling of jumping right in just as we used to do a veryyyyyyyyy long time ago. Waited a while to see if the sun would come out to give a little more life to this shot.
Grazie e buona giornata a tutti, Have a great day everyone.
