Margate hosts 'The Mile Beach Race' each year, and I decided to go down and capture some reflections. Initially, I looked into bike mirrors, biking goggles, and the wet sand as the sea receded. The race was fun and exciting, offering many opportunities for unique reflections. One shot stood out to me: a motorbike perfectly reflected in a sea puddle, with two bikes visible in the distance. I edited this image with a vintage feel, emphasizing the reflective quality. I kept the right side of the image open, allowing space for the bike to ride into, enhancing the composition.
CSX multilevel train Q216 passes a puddle at mile 79 on the Indiana Subdivision as it climbs out of the Storm Creek valley. The single lead unit and a single DPU have the 142 car train of over 13,000 ft in length on a roll up the grade.
Slightly edited shot of a biker in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Sony HX1. No editing besides some fiddling with contrast and saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop :)
This Summer could have been a Paradise for wicked Reflectahs, with the daily rain, the unbelievable amounts of water pouring down on the best city in the world and the giant wet spots all over the place, but unfortunately it takes a lot more than water in the streets to shoot wicked reflections. The most important thing besides the proper light, shadow and angle, is to make sure that there are plenty of the talented tiny puddle people present, who draw those awesome images onto the surface of the water with the light of speed and really tinytiny brushes. Or did you really think that water reflections can look as exciting as they appear on my Flickr stream without the help of little wicked wizards and their magic powers? And all they ask in return for their services is a pack of these little cocktail-umbrellas, that always try to poke your eye out when you leave them in the glass while drinking, seems that they don't like getting wet either, lol :)
Have a wicked weekend :)
I've made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle too, check it out on my YouTube channel, thank you :)
Here is the necklace for the Pullip fullset outfit, featuring super tiny carnelians. Three of these sets will be available at Puddle next month.
So busy lately. Finishing up the details on many dresses, and I finally finished the space Galaxy dresses! I hope I can get a few more things done on time, but I need to start BlytheCon items soon. I'm starting an Isul fullset today, and I want to make some sci-fi teal/silver dresses for puddle that will be my "budget" item, so they will be simplistic and hopefully quicker to make.
Reflection of a ride in a puddle of water...
I was kinda standing beneath this ride for this shot. Thank God nobody hurled on me! LOL.
Puddle Pedal
A parked bike shows off its silhouetted echo in rain soaked concrete. Circles duplicate and a bold vertical line anchors. Blue and gold hued concrete serves as negative space. Lines scramble a bit adding visual pathways and interest.

The rainy day
The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains,and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the mouldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.
My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains,and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.
Be still, sad heart, and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.
(Henry Wadsworth Longfellow)
From the test roll with one of the cameras given to me by my grandfather – a folding Baldax 6×4.5cm camera that he bought for his 21st birthday in 1936. I misunderstood the two red window system and only took half the shots I should have. There are also signs of a lightleak from one of the red windows.
I think I may have overcorrected the colour on this one - it came out of the scan looking very blue, and I've made it too yellow.
Took my Thursday Walk after the 2nd storm rolled through. Confined my photos to reflectons in the puddles. Feeling like it should have been purple rain:(
