This is the industrial design model that's the precursor to the clear case mechanical prototypes.
This came from a GUI designer for the eMate who said it was shown to developers at the 1996 MacWorld. Apparently it was the first time Apple used "stereo lithography" to prototype a product. Jonathan Ives saw it in use in Amsterdam and was inspired to try it. Three pieces were made; the top, bottom and pen.
From the CAD program, the pieces were carved out to hold a standard keyboard which you can see. Then they added rubber stops for the pen wells, the Apple logo, and space was carved to hold the screen.
Caught this BYD prototype car again, this time parked on a suburban street in Brighton.
I'm assuming this is their new Dolphin hatchback based on what I have seen in the news from the automotive world.
It doesn't seem to be on any Australian registration. What is in the place of number plates, are a pair of photos of a Chinese number plate reading "B6601" placed on what looks to be a table or some sort of flat surface.
A larger and better cut photo of that same number plate can be seen affixed to the rear window.
As you may be able to tell, I don't photograph cars from China and that is because I do not have an interest in them. As for this one, I never see a prototype out on the road so, I definitely wanted to take it's photo no matter where it's coming from.

This is the basis of most modern day buses.
Leyland stumbled upon a real winner when they came up with this one.
The tiny engine is tucked away, hardly noticeable, at the back, yet, surprisingly, this is a traditional 1950's half cab design, with the usual space for the engine at the front.
The lower deck ceiling has a pronounced curve and an innovative, sliding door takes you into the drivers cab.
So futuristic, yet, in some ways, old hat, this vehicle proved the success of rear engine and drivetrain technology, leading the way for the Volvo's, Scania's, Enviro's etc, being manufactured today, over 50 years later.
Be weary, you all, for this is a prototype of the Halo 4 Scorpion tank. Of course, it needs an M274T LMG turret, sliding cockpit, treads, etc.

This one-off prototype sports car was built by AC Cars Ltd. (Thames-Ditton) in 1962-63 as an eventual replacement for the Ace and Cobra. The AC Experimental Coupe, as it was called (despite being a convertible), used a unique space-frame chassis, coil-spring suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, inboard rear brakes and aluminum body panels. It was powered by a Ford 289 race engine left over from the 1963 LeMans 24 Hours. The prototype was regularly driven by Derek Hurlock until 1968 when it was sold to a private owner. This unique piece of AC Cars history is now for sale at Speedart Motorsports in Miami FL at an asking price of $950,000 USD.
...with one big happy kid in the driver's seat.
One of two early-model cars that will be part of the forthcoming Walt Disney Family Museum to open this October in San Francisco.
When Disneyland was in development, this deluxe prototype was tested around the Disney Studio lot in Burbank, though it never made it into the park itself. Until just recently it has been in the Disney family, and used by Walt's grandkids. Ain't she a little beauty?

A little build. The Front is based of a model by Legolize it man! It turned out nice, in my opinion.
Making a transition from invisible AFOL to wannabe toy designer, here's one of the things I've been working on. It's a "pod", similar to the ones found in official sets, but are intended to hous portable models.
Originally they were designed to house a 6x6 area, but there are also prototypes for 8x8 and 10x10.
I'm thinking of producing a small limited run, whether though crowdfunding or some other means. Either way, there's more testing to do.
