Some days, I'm really not to keen on the way things operate round about these parts. Especially on the other side of the freeway. It's as timeless a story as any. Wait until the last minute to drop everything one us.

...Go ahead. We're ready...

This day was great! You know those days when you wake up knowing your going to have a great day? I had one of those, I got up early in the morning and decided to walk to work today. I was so trigger happy with my camera, taking photos left and right. I got so many photos and so many that I wanted to put up today! So going through them, editing was so hard. I got down to about ten photos then knocked that down to about four then final choose this image.

So how did this photo come into being? Well this photo was taken late at night, I was in a great mood so I stayed around town till the sun went down. As I was walking around High street in Auckland I was passing a food stall. I noticed two people ordering food from it. I loved how the stall light up the subjects ordering food, while there surroundings are darkened but the night, the only thing that light up the street was artificial light.

New project - Derelict Numbers!

The set already has two in -- apart from those two, I'm going to try and post consecutively. This could take a very long time to fill up, and may not appeal to everyone. I may need to rethink my consecutive thing at some point in the future. I've got a 339 and 567 waiting to go in!

This is number 0. Is that even a number? Who cares. It's on some Budenberg gauge at an abandonded sugar factory near where I live.

The 1 and 2 totally don't count in this because they're not the main focus :)

The doctor's waiting room. More accurately, the waiting room at the medical centre. It is very different from the waiting room at the doctor's when I was a child in London in the 1960s. That had cracked lino on the floor; dark wood, mismatched, pre-war chairs and dirty cream coloured gloss paint on the walls. The last time I was in a doctor's waiting room in the UK it was definitely better than that, but not as nice as this. The other big difference is that I didn not have to pay anything to see the doctor in the UK. My visit today cost $53. However, the prescriptions are cheaper here.

Did nothing today. Forgot to take this yesterday, so I'm making up for lost time here.

Went to the zoo today. there is nothing like taking pictures of people in a aquarium. I think this would be one of the best places to take photos. That’s because people let their guards down, and everyone around them are taking pictures.

Some of my magazine clippings. I have a ton more, but I took just a handful out for this picture.

The Crisis Project was named after the interpretation of the definitions of the word Crisis:

“A stage in a sequence of events at which the trend of all future events, esp. for better or for worse, is determined; turning point “

“A condition of instability, or danger, as in a social, economic, political, or international affairs, leading to decisive change.”

“A dramatic emotional or circumstantial upheaval in a person’s or people’s existence.”

The goal of The Crisis Project is to alter people’s perception of ‘the suburbs’, while both encouraging artists to use the public space as their canvass, and to create a sense of fear within the affected communities for those who don’t understand.

The Suburbs have the undeniable connotation of: “white picket fences, and safe community living for all.” Those who live here by choice do so to: either escape the negative aspects of city dwelling, or to move out of the country in search of a more connected lifestyle. Those who are born here, who grow up in ‘Suburbia’ don’t see their surroundings as an escape, but as a prison of town parks and strip malls.

Excluding illuminated store signs and the odd billboard, the suburbs are devoid of any visual stimulation, exactly what property owners want, and expect. But this existence, compounded with the many destructive aspects of the suburban youth lifestyle, only intensifies the angst against the powers that be, by starving creativity.

The Crisis Project is the initial attack on the habituated suburban lifestyle, which hopes to both bring together suburban youth to inspire art and creativity, and to initiate the waves of change against the clean walls, and municipal supremacy.
