Cheddar's still here~

 

She hasn't made tons of progress, but she does have the beginnings of a headcap now...I'm having a hard time picturing what I'd do with a finished Cheddar though. 8<

We visited right after a blizzard and the polar bears were so happy. This one was doing backflips and backstrokes in the pool.

All of the over-wintered plants (begonias and coleus) are outside and putting up new growth. The petunias and verebena in the front boxes are coming along, and last year's caladium tubers are putting up leaves in the corner round planter. In the lower-left corner, the very last of the pansies are sharing a pot with the very last daffodil (which never bloomed). It's just about time to pull it up (along with the very last of the muscari), dry it out, and stick it in a bag for next year.

Singer, composer, musician, curator, activist, producer, and storyteller Toshi Reagon presented a special first glimpse into her creative process during a work-in-progress showing of "You're Having Too Much Fun So We're Gonna Have to Kill You" on Friday, October 7, 2022 in the Center for the Arts Theater. Reagon concluded her year-long artist residency at Wesleyan University’s Center for the Arts developing the new production. She was joined by vocalists Be Steadwell, Josette Newsam, and Carla Duren, keyboard player Kim Jordan, bassist Fred Cash Jr., drummer Matt Graff, and multi-instrumentalist Adam Widoff on guitar. The work-in-progress showing was followed by an outdoor disco party with artist manager, producer, remixer, music supervisor, performer, recording artist, writer, and DJ Bill Coleman. Collaborating disco choreographers and performers included Madrone Cochran '23, Mika Foguel '25, Sabine Geary '23, Amaal Ladha '23, Charissa Lee '23, Halle Newman '23, and Rebeca Trevino '24; with guidance from Assistant Professor of the Practice in Dance and African American Studies Joya Powell. The Pride and Progress mural is located at 1315 Spruce Street. This is another mural by Ann Northrup and it was completed in 2003. It was sponsored by the William Way Community Center and individual donors.
