A VERY old kit of mine, I guess it is the first kit I ever bought OOB in order to build a (fantasy) conversion from it.
The idea was a land-based, martime patrol bomber and submarine hunter like the P-2 Neptune or P-3 Orion, with a vintage feel and look but modern features.
The basis is/was a B-26 Martin Marauder kit from Matchbox, which is not hard to recognize. But many details were changed/added, like...
● Twin fins from a Matchbox A-10 (they fit perfectly on the clipped horizontal stabilizers)
● The bid radome is the nose from the transport version of Matchbox' Privateer kit
● The MAD tail was cut from wood, primed and then painted.
● Engines come from a Matchbox A-20 Havoc, the propellers are B-26, but with added spinners.
● Weapon bay opened and with interios
● Many additional antenna blisters and the like
● Scratch-built AGMs, actually modifies Phoenix AAMs from an Italeri F-14
● Modified landing gear; the twin front wheel, for instance, is the main landing wheel from a 1:144 scale DC-9 airliner from Revell...
● The in-flight refuelling probe is a modified ACMI pod.
● Air brakes/chaff dispensers are parts from a Revell F-16.
● Sonobuoys compartment behind the weapon bay, plus a camera station.
● Wing tip tanks come from an ESCI A-7
As a modern contrast, the machine was painted in a low-viz paint scheme which was all the rage in the 90ies - inspired by US Navy planes, in FS 36375 below, FS 36320 for the sides and upper surfaces and FS 35237 for anti-glare areas.
As a colorful contrast, and inspired by the Academy Lockheed Ventura kit, a hand-painted squid (kind of) was added around the turret, plus the nose art title "The Kraken", partly obscured by gun soot.
Certainly not a masterpiece of whiffery, but a nice souvenir.
Charity Auctions at the KCC (Oct. 2010)
PRESENT FROM THE PAST:
The 60th Commemoration of the Korean War
On the 8th and 11th October 2010, the Korean Cultural Centre with the kind support of Sotheby’s and the Royal British Legion held two Charity Auctions to raise funds for the Relief Fund of The British Korean Veterans Association.

The Silent Auction on the 8th was kindly hosted by the BBC’s Mishal Husain and the auctioneer for the Live Auction was the Deputy Chairman of Sotheby’s, Lord Harry Dalmeny.
The two auctions raised a wonderful £20,180 for the British Veterans, with the highest bid being £1,700 for ‘Bird’ donated to the BKVA by Yong Jin CHOI.
Both Auctions were complimented by delicious cuisine prepared by Paul Schenk and his team. Paul Schenk is the Director of Food and Beverages at Korea’s Intercontinental Grand hotel in Seoul. He also prepared the same menu for the World Leaders at the G20 Summit in Seoul.
An emotional and touching video documenting the reasons for the exhibition and auction was prepared for the guests by participating artist, Je Baak. Ms Jeongmin Kim, from London’s Philharmonic Orchestra performed Biber’s Passacalia AND Choi Hong Seo performed two songs for the Audience.

Practice piece using techniques from "Letter Love 101" and "Artful Alphabets" with Joanne Sharpe
What do do with all those little practice pieces from the classes? Being a collagist, I just had to incorporate them into other works.
This one has been added to an altered book I was already working on, along with an altered art doll figure I had created some time ago. It measures about 5X5.

Present cake made for a darling little girls 1st birthday. The cream dollop on the top is for the candle!
I made Roast Apple Jam for the night owls and Claudia, my "neighbour" at dialysis.
Ingredients for 4 jars (à ca. 250 ml contents):
100 g almonds
500 g apples
400 ml apple juice
100 g raisins
500 g gelling sugar 2:1 (jam sugar, preserving sugar, jelly sugar - whatever you call it)
1 vanilla pod
Preparation:
1. Roast almonds in a pan without fat, remove. Peel apples, quarter, remove core and dice pulp. Bring apple juice, apple dices, raisins and gelling sugar to the boil and let simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
2. Roughly chop almonds. Cut vanilla pod open lengthwise and scratch out the vanilla pulp. Cut pod into four pieces. Add almonds, vanilla pod and pulp to the jam and cook shortly.
3. Spoon jam into twist-off glasses that had been rinsed with hot water and cap tightly. Be sure that a piece of vanilla pod goes in every glass. Turn glasses upside down and allow to stand on the lids for 5 minutes.
Some remarks:
- I used readily chopped almonds and roasted them with a pinch of cinnamon.
- I weight the apples after peeling and removing the core.
- The 2:1 means that you need two portions of ingredients (apples, juice, raisins) and one portion of sugar. I took a 3:1 gelling sugar (three portions of ingredients and one portion of sugar) and found the jam still a little bit sweet. I'd add some lemon juice if I made it again.

Ein Weihnachtsgeschenk aus meiner Küche
Ich habe für die Nachteulen und Claudia, meine Nachbarin in der Dialyse, Bratapfelkonfitüre gemacht.
Zutaten für 4 Gläser (à ca. 250 ml Inhalt):
100 g Mandeln
500 g Äpfel
400 ml Apfelsaft
100 g Sultaninen
500 g Gelierzucker 2:1
1 Vanilleschote
Zubereitung:
1. Mandeln in einer Pfanne ohne Fett rösten, herausnehmen. Äpfel schälen, vierteln, Kerngehäuse herausschneiden und Fruchtfleisch würfeln. Apfelsaft, Apfelwürfel, Sultaninen und Gelierzucker aufkochen und 5–10 Minuten köcheln.
2. Mandeln grob hacken. Vanilleschote der Länge nach aufschneiden und Mark herauskratzen. Schote vierteln. Mandeln, Vanillemark und -schote zur Konfitüre geben und kurz mitkochen.
3. Konfitüre sofort in heiß ausgespülte Twist-off-Gläser füllen und diese fest verschließen. Dabei darauf achten, dass in jedes Glas ein Stück Vanilleschote kommt. Gläser umdrehen und ca. 5 Minuten auf den Deckeln stehen lassen.
Einige Anmerkungen:
- Ich habe fertig gehackte Mandeln genommen und sie noch mit einer Prise Zimt angeröstet.
- Die Äpfel habe ich nach dem Schälen und Entfernen des Kerngehäuses gewogen.
- Ich habe 3:1-Zucker genommen (drei Teile Zutaten und ein Teil Zucker), fand die Konfitüre aber immer noch ziemlich süß. Falls ich sie noch mal mache, werde ich etwas Zitronensaft zugeben.
