"Finally, brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you." 2 Thessalonians 3:1

Paul frequently enlisted prayer support from the churches for his ministry.

Cross Reference to verses...

Romans 15:30-32 (NASB)

"Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me, that I may be rescued from those who are disobedient in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may prove acceptable to the saints; so that I may come to you in joy by the will of God and find refreshing rest in your company."

Ephesians 6:18,19 (ESV)

"praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel."

Colossians 4:2,3 (NASB)

"Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned."

1 Thessalonians 5:25 (ESV)

"Brothers, pray for us."

Philemon 1:22 (NASB)

"At the same time also prepare me a lodging, for I hope that through your prayers I will be given to you."

In particular, he asked them to pray that the word of God would continue to spread rapidly as it had been already and be received with the honor it deserved.

cross reference

Acts 6:7 (ESV)

"And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith."

Acts 12:24 (NASB)

"But the word of the Lord continued to grow and to be multiplied."

Acts 13:44-49 (ESV)

"The next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord. But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began to contradict what was spoken by Paul, reviling him. And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles. For so the Lord has commanded us, saying,

“‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles,

that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region.’”

I've always loved Islamic prayer rugs, both the individual ones and the wall-to-wall rugs seen in mosques. Their colors and designs give me a sense of peace and well-being.

I carved the Lord's Prayer in this oak faced pallet which I found washed up on a beach in Ibiza, Spain. It took me a week, a line a day roughly, using just a stanley knife to carve the lettering. It was a joy to do it. I started it on the beach and then moved up into a forest overlooking a beautiful bay. A very tranquil week's work!

Muslim ladies contemplate after prayer

a moment like no other...

This is bronze prayer wheel with religious inscriptions. Tibetan Buddhist believe that the action of turning the wheel is similar to reading the Buddhist sutras.

A prayer flag is a colorful rectangular cloth, often found strung along mountain, valleys, ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas. Buddhism believes that Prayer flags are simple devices that, coupled with the natural energy of the wind, quietly

harmonize the environment, impartially increasing happiness and good fortune

among all living beings

Flags contain pretty pieces of colored cloth with including the ancient Buddhist prayers, mantras and powerful symbols. Buddhism believes that prayer flags produce a spiritual vibration that is activated and carried by the wind across the countryside.

The Tibetan word for prayer flag is Dar Cho. “Dar” means to increase life,

fortune, health and wealth. “Cho” means all sentient beings.

The silent prayers are blessings spoken on the breath of nature. Just as

a drop of water can permeate the ocean, prayers dissolved in the wind extend to fill all of space.

The prayer flag tradition has a long continuous history dating back to ancient

Tibet, China, Persia and India. The tradition has now reached the West and is

rapidly gaining popularity.

No cameras allowed inside, though photographing the prayer circle is okay. It is meant for meditation & reflection, not photo-ops.

Stones assembled near the start of the wall, resembling faces, eyes - a haunting image. Soon as I saw them a chill passed over me. Very powerful.

The wall is a tribute to Tom Hendrix's great-great-grandmother, a Yuchi who was born in what is now NW Alabama. She was removed int what became known as the Trail of Tears, but eventually walked back all the way from the Oklahoma territories. His wall was built one stone at a time, just as her journey was made one step at a time. And just like her journey, it winds, has high spots & low spots.

He has rocks from 127 States, countries & islands, including stones from the Arctic & Antarctic, the top of Everest, & the bottom of the ocean. I'm planning to send him some mahogany obsidian from Northeast California, maybe several others from my collection.

It has received recognition as a significant piece of environmental art. The wife of Alabama's Governor Bob Riley wanted to turn it into a tourist destination, but Mr Hendrix refused. That's not what the wall is about.
