Anant Chaturdashi 2010 or the last day Ganesh Chaturthi 2010 will be celebrated all over Maharashtra and the whole of India. This day is a very important day for the Hindu community in India and specially in Maharashtra where Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in a totally different valor. It is during this day when the Ganesh Idols placed in people homes and communities leave for immersion.
Anant Chaturdashi also marks the end of Ganesh Chaturthi which lasts for 10 or 12 days according to the Hindu calender. People take out processions from their homes or the communities where they reside, along with the Ganesh Idol, as they proceed to immense the idol into the sea, lake or river.
People observe this day with prayer and preparation of the immersion of the Ganesh idol that was with them for 10 days. During the processions, people dance with on the tunes of the drummers behind them, as they move along to immerse the idol. This also one of the most important festivals in India, and is now days celebrated by every Hindu.

The last pages are used to write down the offerings made to the church after her death: "Offerings for mamma's soul." The list was kept by Evelina, her daughter.

The site of the Tower is sacred to several Native American tribes, and even to this day, they bring prayer bundles and place them near the Tower. I didn't manage to find any, so I wasn't able to photograph one, let alone disturb it...

We've had such a hard week. Pinkie is in need of some prayers. I have been so sick with worry over her. She is coming out of a second surgery from complications with an obstruction. It has been hard these past few days watching this lively little girl fight so valiantly. She's had two surgeries now, patching up 5 holes in her intestines the first time and now removing a portion in her second surgery. She is no where near out of the woods but she is a fighter and I know she will pull through.
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is located in Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the United Arab Emirates. The largest mosque in the country, it is the key place of worship for Friday gathering and Eid prayers. The project was launched by the late president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who wanted to establish a structure that would unite the cultural diversity of the Islamic world with the historical and modern values of architecture and art. The Grand Mosque was constructed between 1996 and 2007. It was designed by Syrian architect Yousef Abdelky.

Lumbinī is a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the Rupandehi district of Nepal. It is the place where Queen Mayadevi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama. Siddhartha Gautama lived roughly between 623 and 543 BCE and he founded Buddhism as Gautama Buddha. Lumbini is one of four magnets for pilgrimage that sprang up in places pivotal to the life of the Buddha, the others being at Kushinagar, Bodh Gaya and Sarnath.
Lumbini, where the Buddha lived until the age of 29, has a number of temples, including the Mayadevi temple, and others under construction. Also located here is the Puskarini or Holy Pond where the Buddha's mother took the ritual dip prior to his birth and where he, too, had his first bath, as well as the remains of Kapilavastu palace. At other sites near Lumbini, earlier Buddhas were, according to tradition, born, achieved ultimate awakening and finally relinquished earthly form.
Visited my friend's church, and after the service, I joined their prayer walk.

Postures like this sister were easily sighted. I was impressed by the earnestness of the Korean's prayer. I don't think it was just external: what is inside will certainly be shown visibly too in some way, and at the conference you could sense the passion of the brothers and sisters for God.

It was getting dark as we arrived at our last Mandalay temple-stop of the day, but fortunately the rains held off. We positioned ourselves on the upper balcony of a modest monastery - who's name I don't know - and waited as a young monk struck a metal bong repeatedly with a heavy wooden striker. Quietly, walking barefoot, maroon-robed monks emerged from all directions, and lined up to enter the prayer hall, where they sat for meditation, chanting and prayers.

Its been one year since my father passed away. we went to church today for a memorial mass in his honor. Rhianna was looking at the statues. The Virgin Mary with Baby Jesus has always been my favorite statue since I was about Rhianna's age. I used to have a small white plastic statue of them when I was a child that I used to sleep with at night and I used to carry it with me when I went to mass. One Saturday evening when I was about 5 years old I left the statue behind in the pew at Church and when I went to bed that night I was so upset that I had lost my little statue. My mother took me back to Church the following day to see if we could find it in the pew, but it wasn't there. As we were leaving the Church my mother had looked up at the statue of the Virgin Mary and there was my little white statue at her feet! I was so overjoyed that we had found it. Sadly I do not have my little statue anymore, it somehow got misplaced over the years. I would have loved to have passed it down to Rhianna. I have many fond memories of it, it was my comfort item. I never had a blanket or something of that nature so I guess in a way the little statue filled that gap for me.
I believe the box was intended to hold playing cards, but it was perfect for setting intentions in four different areas. Acrylic paint, magazine clippings, cardstock, scrapbook paper, stamps/distress ink, Buddha pendant from Michael's, wood and metal embellishments, painted stones from an old mojo bag, tiny handmade book (top right compartment, bottom corner), small mirror.
