Prayers and offerings are made at the Tianhou Palace that was first built in 1326 and one of only 3 Mazu Temples in the world. Mazu according to Wikipedia literally means Goddess of the Sea "who is said to protect fishermen and sailors". Tianjin's Mazu Temple is located right at the center of the Ancient Culture Street (October 2010).
I have a flat in old Georgian house, Pipes Place. At one time it was an old peoples home run by Carmelite nuns.On the back of the building is a modern wing (1960's) containing a room that was used as a chapel. It is now pretty neglected and was threatened with demolition at one time/ It is now used for storage. There are two stained glass windows. One says "Pray for Charles and Charlotte Wintercorn"

In the final room there is a giant rotating fork with a cherry on it. Next show I'm doing a gigantic rotating coelacanth and then everyone will notice my piece.

A prayer flag is a colorful panel of rectangular cloth, often found strung along mountain ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas. They are used to bless the surrounding countryside and for other purposes. Prayer flags are believed to have originated with Bon, which predated Buddhism in Tibet. In Bon, shamanistic Bonpo used primary-colored plain flags in healing ceremonies. They are unknown in other branches of Buddhism. Traditionally they are woodblock-printed with texts and images.

In accordance with Buddhist beliefs, Prayer Flag is prayer or mantra and many religious symbols written on the clothes of five colors, i.e. white, blue, green, yellow and red; which reflects the main elements in life, i.e. air (wind), sky, water, soil, and fire and is considered to give happiness, longevity, and a blessing. Prayer flag is tied in a long rope and faced at places that are considered important. When the wind blows, the prayer flags look beautifully flying, and it is believed that prayers and mantras written on the flags soared into the sky to reach nirvana.
