Messengers to the 2022 Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting June 14-15, Joel and Carrie Young, pray together June 12 during a designated prayer time with Robby Gallaty, pastor of Long Hollow Church in Hendersonville, Tenn., and Bill Elliff, directional pastor of The Summit church in North Little Rock, Ark. The prayer time took place prior to the start of the 2022 SBC Pastors’ Conference.

A prayer bead necklace left behind by a child at the gate to the ancient church of St. Mary & St. Lawrence in Great Waltham village; a touching reminder of how a simple gesture can become a powerful symbol of faith, especially when coming from a child. It may have been merely lost and placed there by a passerby so the owner could find and retrieve it, or perhaps it was left as a votive offering as many such tokens are in spiritual places. Either way it was a small striking detail noticed when entering the passage to the old churchyard.
"John's disciples said to Jesus, "Are you 'He who is to come' or do we look for another?" In reply, Jesus said: "Tell John what you hear and see: the blind recover their sight, cripples walk, lepers are cured, and the poor have good news preached to them..." Lk. 3:10 Third Week of Advent
O Jesus, I rejoice at the signs that say you are near. Your power is everywhere if I could see it.
Yet my eyes often see only darkness and what has yet to be done. I believe in you, yet when I look around evil seems so strong and goodness so weak. If you have come, why is there still so much suffering and why do the poor still despair? Where are your miracles today?
Your grace, O Lord, is more fruitful in my world than I imagine. I know your power is everywhere around me, if I could only see it. Show me today where the blind see and cripples walk.
Make my vision sharper than it is."

My very first Prayer Flag after reading about Prayer Flags in Jenny Doh's Art Saves Book. It was so much fun, and I can't wait to create more.

3/20/08 I just added a storyboard I made for this family here.
This photo is from a maternity session I did a few weeks ago for a friend. Little Miss Maggie was born on February 22. She weighed in at a healthy 8lbs 8oz, however, she developed Pneumonia and now they believe she may have something wrong with her heart, possibly a hole. They are in the process of running more tests and she's been moved to a children's hospital.
She is absolutely beautiful but I've only been able to see her from a distance as she is isolated in the NICU.
This family needs all the prayers they can get at this point. If you're the praying type, please pray for healing and comfort for all of them. They are Lynn, Angel, Raven and Maggie.
Update 2/26/08 @ 3pm
At this point, they have determined there is some heart condition - I don't know the name but Maggie is being transferred again - this time to Duke. They said Duke is the only hospital on this side of the country that handles whatever this condition is. The plan at this point is immediate surgery and it's likely that Maggie will have more surgeries to follow. Please, please keep them in your prayers!
Update 2/27/08 @ 8:40am
Just got a call from Maggie's grandma, Gail. Maggie's left ventricle did not form right and is unable to pump as it should. Right now, Maggie is on a breathing machine and they are trying to stabilize her for surgery. She will have surgery either tomorrow or Friday. The surgery will be to try and rework the right ventricle so that it can pump for both the right and left. Maggie will need another surgery around 4 months old and another around 3 years old. Gail said right now, Maggie is a fighter and just asked that everyone keep praying that she will make it through this. If the first surgery is successful, they give her a 90% chance of surviving so that's what they're praying for. Mom and dad are understandably worried and upset and need prayers for comfort and peace during this time of struggles. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers!
Update 2/27/08 @ 9:30pm
No more real news updates yet. I just got off the phone with Gail and they still don't know if Maggie's surgery will be in the morning or if they will wait until Friday. They are letting Lynn and Angel spend as much time with Maggie as they want. I did find out the actual name of the condition and it is Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. It does sound very serious so again, please just all the thoughts and prayers we can get are much appreciated right now!
Update 2/29/08 @ 9:30am
I talked to Angel a short while ago. There's still no change with Maggie but she is being a real trooper. The doctors have scheduled the surgery for Monday. Maggie is stable so they are trying to give her enough time to build strength before the surgery. Of course Lynn and Angel are still concerned and worried and honestly, feeling like all of this is just an impossible nightmare but they are holding together for the sake of Maggie and Raven. Please continue to keep them in your prayers!
Update 3/3/08:
Yesterday we visited Lynn and Angel at the hospital. Their spirits were up and the doctors were hopeful that all would go well with the surgery today. I got a call from Angel earlier this afternoon. Maggie is out of surgery and it went well!!! Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers and please continue to pray for them as they battle this long road of recovery, healing and more surgeries. Right now, all is well though as she has made it through this first hump! She is definitely a miracle baby!
A prayer flag is a colorful rectangular cloth, often found strung along mountain, valleys, ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas. Buddhism believes that Prayer flags are simple devices that, coupled with the natural energy of the wind, quietly
harmonize the environment, impartially increasing happiness and good fortune
among all living beings
Flags contain pretty pieces of colored cloth with including the ancient Buddhist prayers, mantras and powerful symbols. Buddhism believes that prayer flags produce a spiritual vibration that is activated and carried by the wind across the countryside.
The Tibetan word for prayer flag is Dar Cho. “Dar” means to increase life,
fortune, health and wealth. “Cho” means all sentient beings.
The silent prayers are blessings spoken on the breath of nature. Just as
a drop of water can permeate the ocean, prayers dissolved in the wind extend to fill all of space.
The prayer flag tradition has a long continuous history dating back to ancient
Tibet, China, Persia and India. The tradition has now reached the West and is
rapidly gaining popularity.
The Masjid-i Jahān-Numā ('World-reflecting Mosque'), commonly known as the Jama Masjid of Delhi, is the principal mosque of Old Delhi in India. Commissioned by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, builder of the Taj Mahal, and completed in the year 1628 AD, it is the largest and best-known mosque in India. It lies at the origin of a very busy central street of Old Delhi, the Chawri Bazar Road.
The later name, Jama Masjid, is a reference to the weekly Friday noon congregation prayers of Muslims, Jummah, which are usually done at a mosque, the "congregational mosque" or "jāmi' masjid". The courtyard of the mosque can hold up to twenty-five thousand worshippers. The mosque also houses several relics in a closet in the north gate, including an antique copy of the Qur'an written on deer skin.

Thaipusam in Malaysia is a festival of 3 days for most but for the Kavadi bearers the journey starts 1 month earlier. Following a strict vegetarian fast, constant prayers, sleeping on floors and abstaining from any entertainment the journey ends at their destined temple.
The Silver chariot leaves the Maha Mariamman temple at Jalan Bandar, Kuala Lumpur in the wee hours of the eve of Thaipusam and travels 15 km with thousands of devotees to the centre of the festival at Batu Caves. The festival begins at the temple as soon as the festival flag is hoisted in the evening of the eve. Nearly a million people turn up for the festival in the next 36 hours together with the hundreds of kavadis and thousands of milk bearers who throng the cave temples accompanied by the sounds of drums.
The next day the Chariot makes its way back into the city to mark the end of Thaipusam.

Going through and uploading all the photos from yesterday and couldnt help but stop and edit this shot. Tyler and Roxanne decided to keep things traditional and not see each other until the ceremony. Since we weren't able to get any shots of a pre-ceremony first look, we got something even better. This is a shot of Tyler and Rox holding hands praying before their ceremony, staying true to their promise of not seeing each other, each on opposites sides of the door...holding hands.
While Tyler says a short prayer thanking God for their special day...Roxanne fought off tears of happiness. Such an awesome moment to witness and capture.
